Big Ten Basketball 2022/2023 - Return to Power (1 Viewer)

Big upset coming for the big ten, U of M upset by South Dakota State, they (state) have a kid who scored 53 points in one game this year

What does Izzo say to them in the locker room? Sparty has no answer for Valpo in the 1st half. They'll really need to turn it on against Valpo in the 2nd half to eek out a victory.

Well if they have a kid that scored over 50 in a game then I'm not sure what hope Michigan has. They're powerless against a team that has a kid who scored 50 in one game.

It always seems to me that Wisconsin either really overachieves and makes an E8 or F4 run when you dont expect it, or they underachieve when they should make a run (the Taylor and Leuer teams for example).
Saw this one coming. Picked Ole Miss in 1 bracket and Wisconsin only winning 1 game in the other. :lmao: at people thinking they were knocking off the Zags and going to the Elite 8. Hell, they were even the popular pick to beat K-State in Kansas City.

Let's not pencil in the Zags to the elite 8 yet...they didn't exactly look like world beaters yesterday.

I thought Southern looked good more than Zags struggled. Olynyk couldnt buy a foul call either.

Good riddance Wisconsin. Sure, I root for the Big 10- during the regular season. Wisconsin looking good in the regular season makes Michigan and MSU look better. However, now that it is tourney time, all that is out the window. It doesn't matter what the conference does, Michigan and MSU will be judged on their own performances.

I'm sure this makes me an ###hole by the prevailing standards these days, but as a Wisconsin grad and fan, I have no desire to see any Big 10 rival have any success at all. I don't really care that much, but definitely don't enjoy seeing other teams succeed, and often feel happy when they fail. Same for Marquette - what kind of Wisconsin fan is happy to see Marquette, Michigan, Ohio St., etc. celebrating a big win? I don't get that, its counter-intuitive, makes no sense. I suppose if Northwestern were making an improbable run through the NIT or something I might get behind them, but even that's hard to imagine right now.

I get the not wanting the Michigans etc to advance, I'm with you there. But why do you root for an in state team to lose? I'm a huge Marquette fan, but I was rooting for Wisconsin today and would have loved to see them keep moving on...... until they would have run into Marquette. Then I'm truly a Marquette fan.My nephew is like you and I just don't understand it. I root for all state teams, until they play Marquette.

Not being a grad I dont hate Marquette...and had family that went there. I pull for them a bit as a Wisconsin team.

And OSU has a nice road ahead....them and Gonzaga with the 3, 4, and 5 seed gone.

6-1 in first round, but now is when the real tests begin. I like to see other B1G teams perform well. I like both Michigan and IU as the two teams I really follow. Born in Michigan, but lived mostly in Indiana.

Nice half, Michigan is the worst possible matchup for VCU. UM playing ok and up 15. Also, my god Mitch McGary has stepped up. It's like there are 2 of him on the court. And those picks? Look like football hits.

Went to the games today.

Both teams played great. Michigan wins vs VCU 95% of the time. They just couldn't rebound and made Mitch look like an All American.

Was interesting I was expecting a hostile crowd form both sides for the other team but that was not the case at all, there were a few cheers here and there but for the most part the other teams fans did not cheer against msu or michigan, and a few times both fans actually got excited when the michigan teams were doing well. I saw witht eh biggest Michigan guy I know and got a high five from him after the Payne dunk. Maybe it was because everyone was sitting next to each other and was cordial but I wasnt really expecting that. May have helped that neither team was ever in danger of losing.

Went to both games today as well and totally agree. It was pretty cool seeing the unity of the two fan bases for the State of Michigan on the big stage. I went with my two UM buds and we both loved watching both teams hammer their opponents today. Really fun time. :suds:

:coffee:
I remember when MSU was playing OSU in the Big Ten tourney semifinal, me and most of my Spartan fan friends weren't too concerned if they lost because it'd be nice to get an extra day of rest anyway. But man, if MSU won that, it could've been them as the 2 seed out west ready to take advantage of the crumbling bracket instead of trying to figure out how the hell you beat Duke and Louisville 2 days apart.

Yeah, Ohio State definitely has an easy road to Final Four now...highest seed remaining is #6, then #9 after that. Having now said that, odds are we will lose as well.

Hoosiers are on the ropes big time. Playing so flat, no flow on offense, not running at all. Pretty much standing around on offense. The most tentative they have played all year long.

Oladipo is going to be on the highlight reel with that last shot, but Jordan Hulls just saved Indiana's season.
I'd put the Watford block right up there. The guy has a 3 inch vertical jump and comes up with that play, loved it.Super ugly game that IU slept walked through until the last 2 minutes. Take the win, but don't play like that against Cuse!
