It's pretty impressive they've only lost 3 times with how bad they've shot.  Iggy and Poole need to find their touch before tournament time.  Beilein always seems to find a way to have his teams playing better at the end of the year.  These last four games could give them some good momentum.

 
Edwards needs to play within the game or Purdue's a risky bet in any big game where he's putting up 20+ shots.  

And that game last night was one of the worst offensive performances from two teams I've ever seen.

Indiana was 12-2 with wins over Marquette, Louisville, and Butler.

What happened to them?

 
On another note, at one point it looked like the Big Ten may get 7, 8, 9 teams in the tournament. How about now? 6?

MN and OSU probably need to finish strong.

Six and no more. I don’t think osu or Minnesota get in. osu has zero wins vs. top 25 teams. Minnesota really just isn’t that good. Illinois could have made it in had they strung together a couple more early wins.

Pretty crazy about Illinois. You are right, though. Nobody is going to want to see them in the Big Ten Tournament.

Teams figured out that nobody could shoot and focused on stopping Morgan and Langford.  They've also dealt with a bunch of injuries to other guys, but that's a lot of it.

OSU is pretty solidly in, but with some tough games left.  Minnesota is going to need a strong finish.

 
Nice win by the Terps over Ohio today. They damned near blew it and turnovers are going to kill them in the postseason, but they showed some grit. The Buckeyes played their butts off.

Maryland's 21-7 (12-5). They've got @PSU, then home against Michigan & Minnesota. They have to win two (& maybe all three) of those to get a double-bye in the B1G tournament.

Anyway, I don't have a rooting interest today (other than I wish both could lose 😉 ). If Michigan's PG (blanking on his name - dude with the cornrows) has a big game, I think they win.

 
Good win on the road by the Good Guys in A2. Surprised me with the big win today, but these guys have been playing tough and with guts all year.

Should be fun in EL in 2 weeks

Jack and I all decked out in green and white today at Mott in AA!  

Someone came into his room the other day and said “We’re coming around with several UM athletes.  Would you like to meet them?”

Michigan played soft today. With 8 minutes to go Sparty was in foul trouble. Michigan should have driven to the hole on every possession but instead sat out on the perimeter on most trips.

 
Great win by MSU. They are a really good team. Winston played great.

I said previously - M is a poor shooting team. And it limits their ceiling. Sucks, but that's the facts. Can't have a 10 minute scoring drought against a team as good as MSU. And can't allow MSU to shoot 65% from 2. 

Hats off to the Spartans. Great win.

 
Thoughts on yesterday's game:

Michigan is more than likely out of the race for the B1G title. I don't see Michigan winning both @ Maryland and @ MSU. I don't see Purdue dropping more than 1 game at most the rest of the regular season.

The stat flashed at the end of the game yesterday of MSU's first road win against a top 10 Michigan since 1986 was misleading. Yesterday was the 2nd time in 25 years Michigan was ranked top 10 when they hosted MSU. The other Michigan top 10 teams in that span were 2 of the Fab Five years and the 89 national title team.

Purdue is still the favorite to win the B1G title. It's more likely that MSU drops one of @ Indiana or vs Michigan than Purdue loses any of their remaining games.

MSU holds the tie breaker for the 1 seed in the B1G tourney as Purdue is 0-1 against Michigan and MSU will at worst be 1-1 against Michigan in record against highest opponent in the standings. 

Michigan is still in play for the 2nd seed in the B1G tourney. They own the HTH tiebreaker against Purdue and would against MSU with a win in East Lansing as Michigan is 1-0 vs Purdue while MSU is 1-1.

Yesterday's game didn't do much to affect national seeding. Both remain as 2 seeds but flip spots in the pecking order. Either team would likely need to win out and win the B1G to get a 1 seed. Both can afford 2 more losses (B1G tourney included) and hold onto a 2 seed. Purdue is probably a 3 seed currently but can get up to a 2 seed by winning out including B1G tourney.

Unless Kentucky slips up down the stretch the 1 seeds look to be the top 2 ACC teams, Gonzaga and Kentucky. 2 seeds being the 3rd place ACC team, MSU, Michigan, Tennessee. Whoever finishes higher at end of season between MSU/Michigan goes to the Midwest with the other being slotted wherever. Probably something like East - 1) ACC, 2) Tennessee or lower of MSU/UM; South - 1) ACC, 2) Tennessee or lower of MSU/UM; Midwest - 1) Kentucky, 2) higher of MSU/UM; West - 1) Gonzaga, 2) 3rd place ACC. The 3rd place ACC team won't go to the East or South with the 1 seeds already being ACC and I think the highest B1G team gets rewarded with the Midwest which forces the 3rd place ACC out to the West.

All of the stuff written above on national seeding is probably worthless. Lots of games to be played still!

 
Michigan State is not going to lose at Indiana.  Feel free to schedule a you're wrong bump for this post.

I'll be surprised if Michigan loses at Maryland.  Cold spells will probably be this team's undoing at some point in March, but those happen less frequently against teams with turnover problems.  Anything is possible in any one given game, but at this point I think it's safe to assume the Terps are gonna turn the ball over too much.

If all that happens then Purdue @ Minnesota decides whether the last game of the year in East Lansing means anything for Michigan or not. And what Minnesota team shows up probably depends on what happens Thursday night.  A loss and they may mail it in.  A win and I think we'll see their best effort against Purdue - extra rest and desperation is a lethal combination, especially when playing at home.  But if Purdue wins then I can't imagine they drop the finale.

Also, with a loss tomorrow the path is clear for Ohio to play their way out of the bracket  :thumbup:   Just don't find your offense against a quality opponent now.  Please.

It's not just the free throws. An inside-outside game only works if the outside portion can hit a shot (Happ also missed like 5 in a row at the rim but that doesn't help my current narrative). At one point late in the 4th, Trice/Davison/Ruevers were like 5/27. Not to mention Pritzl who hasn't taken a wide open shot since the Obama administration. There's a little time to correct things but this isn't the same team that beat Michigan. 3 weeks ago they might have been a solid 4/5 seed with a pretty good shot at the 2nd weekend. Today I feel like they're 1 and done as an 8/9 seed. Struggling against NW, IU, MN (all due respect) and not very competitive vs UM, MSU are bad signs going into March.

Big win for IU. Much needed.

Forget the free throws, the rest of the game was weird.  There were period of really good ball movement by the badgers but then plenty of time for Trice to dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, jack up bad shot.  I understand everything goes through Happ and am fine with that.  Guys just need to hit shots and as a badger fan there has been years of not hitting shots.  It was nice to see some other offense besides Happ.  Kobe King has gotten an average of 1 drive to the basket the last 4-5 games which is nice.  Iverson did really good doing his Happ impersonation, just never know if he can make a free throw.

The last layup given up in not on Iverson, that is on the coaching and rest of the players.  You don't let that guy beat you with a layup.  You help on everything and make him give up the ball.  Instead they just let everybody clear out.

I am good with Dakich, he seemed to favor the badgers last night.  It was very interesting his viewpoint of the reffing.  What he could see versus the camera view.

Man, I don't know what to make of Indiana. They have beaten MSU twice and Wisconsin. And then lost to everyone else.

Really spotty shooting, but the defense has really picked up since the debacle @Minny. If they keep defending like they did today, they'll have a chance to beat almost anybody, but their lack of shooting will probably not let them put anybody away easily.

Now they need to not step on their **** @ILL

State's down 2 of there 3 starters. They've been willing themselves wins with nothing but gutsy play. I guess I didn't see it as that big of a win for a program like Indiana, even with their current record. Which I think they are definitely better than. :shrug:

Really nice win for them though, and I meant no ill will,  just didn't see it as a huge win by any stretch, and the court storm I though was a little much for a program like Indy.  They are a good team that's much better than their record indicates.

Kids just having fun I guess...no problem with me.
