Agreed. See my edit.Eh - they are college kids. Likely drunk. Having fun.
Pulling for Indy to make the tourney to be honest. They have a good team.

Nice win for Rutgers...first road win over a ranked team since 2008.Luckily no Fran in Iowa today so no possible Franeurysms
Done (successfully)! Big road win.JBeilein is a GREAT coach but he HAS to put Simpson back in the game. Who cares if he has 3 fouls? He just has to play smart.
Gotta pack this one away until about 10 pm est tomorrow night. I'll be tuned in...and hoping the result leads to some drama Saturday night...You really have to give credit to Matt Painter. It certainly looks like they are going to win the Big Ten. That's a great coaching job.

okay they tied. hands down, COA.
keep hating.
Where was Purdue predicted to finish to begin the year? The second half of conference? Only Edwards returned from last year. Question marks were all over this team before the season began.I don't know about hands down. Whoever wins between MI and MSU - has Painter really done a better job of coaching than either Izzo or Beilein? If they had won the Big Ten outright, I could see the argument. But I think whoever ties with Purdue will have a good argument also.

Compared the upper tier of this conference where every team has at 3 to 4 highly rated/recruited players, Purdue has 1 and then the rest are role players.
It emanates from the West Lafayette, IN area.Preseason predictions -
ESPN had MSU, MI, Purdue 1-3 in the conference.
So did SI.
Andy Katz had MSU 1, Purdue 3, UM 5.
So ... not sure I get the Purdue came out of nowhere narrative.
That’s just the smell. It emanates from the West Lafayette, IN area.![]()
Gary Williams wanted the game to be a turnover-fest. That's fine when you're an underdog like he was the first 5 or 6 years at Maryland. when they got that stupid death penalty. He got too stubborn with it and it probably cost him a shot at an Elite 8 with the Francis/Profit/Ekezie team (not to mention the earlier Joe Smith teams). He finally learned to change with the group that won the NCAA title and did a good job thereafter adjusting to what he had. That post is spot on @Uruk-Hai. In truth, I don't watch as much or as carefully as I used to. Turgeon has turned me off to the point where watching Maryland basketball is no longer a passion, but rather just something I do while also surfing the web or working.
For the life of me, I can't understand why one wouldn't full-court press or play a 1-3-1 zone once in a while with a team this long and athletic. Similarly, I cannot figure out why a team that generally plays at a slow tempo, and has had point guards like Melo Trimble and Anthony Cowan pass through, consistently commits turnovers on such a high percentage of possessions. I read some statistics recently that showed Maryland actually had a slightly higher turnover percentage over the entire Gary Williams era than the Turgeon era, but I think once one considers the much faster pace of play Gary employed, it's clear that turnovers are a real problem attributable to Turgeon. I may have to see if similar turnover issues plagued his Texas A&M and Wichita State teams.
Perhaps the thing that frustrates me most is the fact that Turgeon's teams are just boring to watch. The slow tempo, lack of identity on offense, tendency to revert to weave-and-heave, and refusal to mix up the defense regardless of talent or depth is just boring. Boring might be acceptable if the results were better, but when the team consistently seems to underperform its talent, it's hard to get excited.
As for the rest of this year, I expect they'll win the 5/12 game in the B1G tourney, then get pasted by Wisconsin. In the NCAA tourney, they'll get a 5 or 6 seed, and maybe win one game, depending on the matchup. I see very little hope for a sweet sixteen berth, short of a situation where they don't have to face the 3/4 seed to get there.
Adidas owns the design and the cost $100 a pop for adult sizes. But that does bring my back to my previous point - why weren't all those kids wearing the candy striped pants? How can you be an Indiana fan and not wear candy striped pants to games?!?
the way it sounds they could lose 2 in B10 tourney somehow and still get inIf the Hoosiers get 2 wins in the Big10 championship are they in?
I think they play OSU or Minn then would play MSU again. If they win those 2 they should be in as crappy as they have been this year.the way it sounds they could lose 2 in B10 tourney somehow and still get in

If they didn't put a million teams in there I'd agree. They are being lumped in with teams like Alabama, Clemson, TCU, St. Mary's as the teams fighting for the last spots. Who really cares that much? They lost 12 games in the conference...no way they should get in.
What a disappointing season.Just following the box score online, but it looks like IU wants one more game at Assembly Hall for their seniors - 5 assists and 10TO at the half :X
Teams with bad coaches often lose earlier than they should in tournaments. This isn't a surprise.Down goes Maryland. Seems like this is a common refrain for them in the tournament. What does this do for their seed?
They're in a pile with several 500 and below major conference teams.Mad Cow said:Yeah they are.
did i hear last night that they're playing with 6 scholarship players??Johnny Rock said:If I’m Nebraska I keep Miles even before this win. He’s a good coach. Revolving door isn’t going to help and likely will hurt.
Don't keep reminding me.did i hear last night that they're playing with 6 scholarship players??
I don't get who is wanting to get Pitino out of MN. No, I don't think he's the greatest coach in the world, but if he keeps getting MN kids like Kalscheur and Oturu each year, that's as good as MN can hope for.Johnny Rock said:If I’m Nebraska I keep Miles even before this win. That’s my same view on Richard Pitino in MN. Gotta stick with it imo.
I turned it off sometime late in the 2nd half. He's bad. Hire Bob Wade back.Rich Conway said:Can we fire Turgeon yet? That was just pathetic. The technical he picked up as Maryland started a comeback, with Nebraska in foul trouble and tired, was absolutely inexcusable.
