Bill Parcells Press Conference (1 Viewer)

Just a few tidbits I heard from his press conference today.

He is not ruling Ownes out for Tennessee right now.

If Owens sits, neither Crayton nor Glenn would be used in that position. He would not say who exactly it would be.

He wants to get MBIII about 8 carries and also for him to be in on 3rd downs. (He never committed to anything specific on this.)

That's about all I remember right now.

Doing some math here -- Barber got 3 carries in Week 1 and 8 in Week 2. However, four of those eight came when he was trying to score from the 1 so I would equate those four carries with one essentially. Looking at it that way, Barber got 5 carries in Week 2. Jones, meanwhile, got 17 carries in Week 1 and 20 in Week 2. Parcells has said the 20 carries Jones got were too many. If he wants to get Barber at least 8 carries a game then using the math above it's possible Parcells feels comfortable with giving Jones 15-17 carries a game.Just some speculation but it would seem to fit based on how Parcells didn't talk about Jones having too heavy of a workload after his 17 carries in Week 1.

I HURD THAT!

Bill Parcells just said it's too early to rule out Terrell Owens for the Tennessee game Oct. 1. He said the initial prognosis of two to four weeks for Owens' hand injury "could be inaccurate."

"I wouldn't rule it out now," he said. "Maybe five days from now, but I wouldn't rule it out now."

Parcells said Owens was in a "little pain today" and that pain medication was making him ill.

Parcells did say that Patrick Crayton would not be the player to replace Owens in the starting lineup if he's unable to go. Crayton knows how to play Owens' position, but Parcells doesn't want Terry Glenn to stay on the field too much.

"I'm not going to screw up two positons," Parcells said.

That means that rookie Sam Hurd would probably fill in for Owens. Parcells once again said he doesn't think the "game's too big" for Hurd, but joked that the team might have to "stop by Walgreen's" on its way to Tennessee.

Parcells continued to talk about his kicking situation. He doesn't want to keep activating two kickers, but he said that Shaun Suisham is giving him 12 to 15 more yards on kickoffs than Vanderjagt would give him.

Sam Hurd-WR- Cowboys Sep. 20 - 2:55 pm et

Sam Hurd was working with the first team during a portion of Cowboys practice Wednesday.

Hurd and Patrick Crayton would pick up snaps in the even that Terrell Owens misses Dallas' next game, in Week 4.

The JJ comment is not in agreement with what I heard in the press conference yesterday. BP said he spoke with the RB coach about JJ's load. The RB coach said the 20 carries were about right for JJ. He was fresh, and strong and had no "give up" runs which happen when the RB is tired. So expect JJ to get 17-20 carries a game.
