BJGE toe injury? (1 Viewer)

BJGE was limited in practice yesterday and totally missed practice today. What concerns me about this is that I was on a Patriots fanboard where someone claimed he had a turf toe injury which are killers for rb's.

I totally understand that one should not put anything into fan run internet forums, but Rotoworld also mentioned that he has a "toe" injury.

Are there any Patriot homers out there who know if BJGE has a turf toe injury or more importantly if he is likely to play (I know nobody here would know that) on Sunday?

The problem is we may not know until after the game starts on Sunday since BB doesn't give any news regarding injuries. The reports are from Patriots beat writers who observe practice. This is bad for BJGE owners because he will most likely listed as questionable on the injury report but who knows if he's going to play and how much?

I was wondering the same thing about turf toe when I saw that rotoworld story. This could be bad. I would think that the Patriots would do everything in their power to have him on the field Sunday vs Dallas and D.Ware. Ridley looked a little confused picking up blitzes.

The Pats also have a bye week after this Sunday so don't be shocked to see the Patriots rest him and give him a couple of weeks off if he is truly hurt.

is ridley even worthy of a start if bjge is out? dallas is 3rd vs the run in my league. it may just mean more brady passing. where would you rank ridley?

Probably won't know anything till about 3:30 on Sunday. One thing for sure, The guy in the Hoodie ain't gonna tell us anything. My choices for RB 2 for this week are Ridley or my 3rd round blunder Ingram. If the Law firm is sitting, I'll go with Ridley.......

paging Dr. Yudkin... :blackdot:
I was told that Green Ellis had the injury BEFORE last game, he played through it, and it got worse. Also told he was not even around at all today, and he has not been available for the media to either see or talk to. That's live intel from the locker room. That's normally not a good sign and would probably be indicative of someone not playing that week. If BJGE does not practice tomorrow, my guess is that he won't play. This part is speculation on my part (although an educated assessment but still a guess).

Great info thx. If ellis does not play, would this mean gronkowski has to block more?

Great stuff.

So Law Firm might have serious turf toe. Hmmmmm.....

And what happened to Danny Woodhead?

The Riddler is rostered but I'm guessing Vereen is available in most leagues. Is he worth grabbing now?

This is the week that Vereen is active and goes for 2 scores and 90 yards

They mentioned a toe issue on Sirius but not specifically turf toe. In any case, It sounds like it could be a toe sprain of some type. We will never know is its something very minor or something worse. I'm sure BB will announce its a minor lower extremity issue soon. :lmao: It did sound like it was worse today vs yesterday. Whether he plays or not could be based on whether Woodhead is available. Brady need BJGE or Woodhead to block on passing downs as it takes rookie a lot longer to learn how and when to block and solidly chip. The defensive plan is to apply extreme pressure middle by random blitzers and there better be a knowledgeable back between the rusher and Brady!

seriously. how long can it take to learn to pass block...granted, i've never played a down of football but it cant be THAT hard...

awaits the inevitable annihilation I will receive for the above...

Green Ellis was in the locker room before practice today, so at a minimum he is around (unlike yesterday). Not limping or in a walking boot or anything. Still trying to find out if he suited up and is participating in practice . . .

Thank you so much... please do keep us posted!

Per Rotoworld

BenJarvus Green-Ellis (toe) returned to practice on Friday. His return lends credence to the belief that the Pats were simply exercising caution in holding Green-Ellis out of a full-pads practice on Thursday. Check back late Friday afternoon for an official update, but it now looks like Lawfirm will be good to go against the Cowboys this week. Source: Shalise Manza-Young on Twitter Oct 14 - 12:06 PM

Is Woodhead practicing, or will he miss another week? He's sitting on the waiver wire in two of my leagues, & might pick him up if BGE is out.

Not to hijack but KFFL had this on Woodhead

New England Patriots RB Danny Woodhead (ankle) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 13.Fantasy Impact: Woodhead has a chance to return this week.

The bigger news to Pats fans is that Mayo is also practicing.

I would tend to think that both BJGE and Woodhead will be listed as questionable and both will probably suit up this week. We should know more by the end of the afternoon.

Would you consider Woodhead a better FLEX play then say Tampa Mike Williams? :D

Did BB know about this or did BJGE bamboozle BB using BB's tactics? He rushed 27 times. Isn't that like his career high? His bamboozling BB might have backfired on him...

Sadly, BB has stopped returning my emails, calls, and texts or else I would ask him.

Relieved that BJGE is back on the field.
Don't be just yet. BB doesn't like to play guys who don't practice on Friday. With the bye coming up this could be a valiant but dangerous attempt to gut out a potentially problematic injury by a guy who is nervous about losing his job. Ideally, if this is turf toe, BJGE would sit the next game with the bye coming to let it rest and heal. But that's not how it works when you're fighting tooth and nail to justify your position with the Hoodie. Aggravation risk seems high if this is anything more than just a very minor injury. Turf toe has derailed a lot better RBs than LawFirm.

Not sure if this was your point as well, but "turf toe" is a toe sprain. Sorry if that was your implication, just wanted to make that clear./Non Doctor. :)

Local radio said it's not turf toe, but that he jammed his toe. To be honest I don't know what the technical definition of turf toe is, but according to the radio he doesn't have it.

Turf toe is just slang for a sprain of the ligaments around the big toe.

You should tell him how discreetly and quickly you can analyze game tape... :shark:

Jammed is definately a grade lower than sprained. Honestly as comfortable with the offense as BJGE is I'd rather have him rest and get a workload.

It would be par for the course for Ridley to be the one to go big this week wouldn't it. Everyone was itching to finally deploy him last week with a nice matchup, coming off a great game the week before-taking over....BOOM, 2 points while The Firm mops up on everyone's bench. No one can trust Ridley this week now...BAM 100/2 with 4 catches for 25 yards in a home shootout vs. Dallas.

I hope so, I'm starting him this week in one league. It's that or Jacquizz Rodgers

espn says

Green-Ellis (toe) has been listed as questionable on the Patriots' official injury report, according to Ian Rapoport of the Boston Herald.

Spin:

Green-Ellis did return to practice Friday and participated fully. The toe injury doesn't appear to be major enough to keep him out of Sunday's game.

Probably won't know definitively until pregame warm-ups. But I would guess, yes he will be playing.
