Black Mirror (1 Viewer)

I just remember her saying "you know my number" ad nauseum.

But did you guys have an option to enter a number somewhere?

Yes and I don’t know why anyone had any trouble and I know why the dumb girlfriend ;)  got it. You had to enter five digits but they repeat them as you type them so you really didn’t have to remember. I never tried random numbers.

What part was this?  I didn't get to it in my "adventure".

But she didn't say the last digit... right? I heard everything except the last number. :(
I'll make my wife watch/play this and see what happens.

Not sure who said which number but it was in order and pretty easy to follow. You may have just missed it because they were difference sources of sound for each number.

Is there some sort of "recommended option" available where I can just sit and watch an episode uninterupted?
You don't have to choose, each question defaults to an answer.

I'm not sure why this episode is getting so much hate.  Everyone I've ever known loved the Choose Your Own Adventure books as kids.

I did that the first time through but don't remember getting to somewhere that I had to enter digits.
Sorry, I messed up and conflates two things in my description. You enter the code if you pick the “P.A.C.S.” option regarding who is watching Stefan (as opposed to the Netflix or decision symbol choices).

So I can just hit play and sit back?  Just have to deal with a bunch of temporary pauses?

Sorry, but choose your own adventure as an adult just seems unappealing and tedious.  It was cool as a kid cause it was new and there was nothing else to do.

I enjoyed the novelty of the format. I think one way to improve it would be to immediate continue with the story once a choice is made instead of waiting for the 10 seconds to run out. I'm watching on a PS4 so I'm not sure if it's the same on all formats.

Just don't waste your time and watch something else.

One thing that is notable about the decision making is that some of them lead to completely different realities. So this is not really a choose your own adventure where the outcomes are the consequences of your decisions, but more like a maze where one choice reveals a reality that is completely different than the revealed reality of some other choice (e.g., fight vs. jump out the window).  While entertaining, I find the latter approach taken to be less thought provoking and ultimately less satisfying.

I feel compelled to watch.  Black mirror has proven themselves to the point that I feel like even with a concept I don't like they can still make it enjoyable.
Well then give them the benefit of the doubt and participate in their game.  It's not meant to be watched passively.

Yes.  When I first watched it I hit a lot of dead ends and had to watch parts over and I kind of lost interest and shut it off.   When I watched with my gf I just let her make all the picks and she did a great job of avoiding any dead-ends and we got straight through it to an ending.  Not sure if I'll ever go back and try other stuff after seeing the flow chart, but maybe someday if I'm with someone who hasn't seen it that wants to.

Just tried to watch, 5 minutes in, the stream has apparently crashed, and I can't watch.  Reloaded several times, logged in and out, closed page, restarted computer..........

Sweet.

I was never a huge fan of the show to begin with but thought this sounded interesting. Had people been posting about how amazing it was, I would have checked it out but it seems like fans of the show are even underwhelmed by it. That's enough for me to not bother.

After some computer issues I got about halfway through last night.  I must say, I think it is quite good so far, and I don't even like the idea of the choosing your path method.

It wasn’t the best episode they’ve had but I was entertained. My son and I tried to go as dark as possible and pretty much got all of the endings. I think maybe a couple fewer choices and ending a little quicker would have been better. At the end we just tried to see everything and I think that kind of lost the story a bit. Maybe that was the point but after going through 5 endings, you didn’t care as much about the characters. I enjoyed it, but maybe 3 different endings with the same paths (converge a few into the same result) would have kept it entertaining and a better story (or at least not lose you as much).

What happens when you chose the "correct" phone number for the shrink? We had an input error and entered one of the digits incorrectly and couldn't get back to that choice to view the other path.

ETA - The flow chart posted above answers the question!

Entering it incorrectly lead to a busy signal. And if I have the different endings/timelines correct, the show ending with him in jail, watching a review of his game.

I image a healthy number of the 100,000 possibilities end that way...but there have to be more 'numbered entries' that have yet to be discovered.

Just watched Crocodile. I did enjoy it up until the end. The ending was really lame.

I did like the tie in back to Fifteen million merits

So does Bandersnatch ever end?

Weird, I just repeated one of the parts and the show ended.  The one where he fights the therapist.  I did the same sequence just for kicks, and it ended the show rather than continuing like it did the first time.

Weird.

Either way, I think this show was excellent.   Very cool concept overall.  Well done

It’s only when you make different choices earlier in your path, I think. I didn’t get the shrink phone number bit every time.

I like Trek but I just found that episode to be really derivative of previous ones. The whole "consciousness within a computer" thing is played out.

But I'm not very consistent I guess because (and this really is a spoiler, so beware)

I liked Hang The DJ.

i liked that the girl lost her ##### and then went loco

Really enjoyed the first episode. Interesting and fairly original take on a well-worn topic. And the acting of the three leads was some of the best of the series.

I thought this was a pretty terrible batch of episodes.  The first one was okay in the sense that it least gave you something to think about, but the other two were very poor.

Side note: I thought that the third episode sucked, but casting Miley Cyrus in that role was brilliant, like Brad Pitt in Fight Club.

Haven’t watched the second two, but I really liked the first. I think it’s because my favorite episodes are those that depict how technology can affect interpersonal relationships.
