Boasting Thread (1 Viewer)

Another quality, insightful thread started by Butt Monkey. Joe & the staff should consider making your threads susbscriber-only.

5 hours into Sunday's NFL action and no one has anything to boast about? I'm shocked. Everybody can't be losing.

I'll go ahead and give myself a pat on the back for drafting Marques Colston in the final round of each of my two leagues and for starting him quite a few times this year, including in both leagues this week. I'm also glad that I wasn't dumb enough to trade him yet, since I can see no way that I'd get equal value for him. Most owners still think he's a fluke.

I must have missed the FBG memo on him; had NO IDEA who this guy was when he was drafted late in our 12 teamer this year.... :bag:

Atlanta's atop their division, tied with a team that has lost their completely unfair homefield advantage. Atlanta has just beaten two of their biggest threats of the season. Atlanta freaking rules.

Kay, I'm done boasting. ^_^

In one league I started the following players today:

Michael Vick

Reggie Wayne

Marques Colston

Joe Horn

Steven Jackson

Robbie Gould

...among others.

Needless to say I am up by a lot. :banned:

ETA: In another league I started:

Peyton Manning

Colston

Ahman Green

Chris Henry

Andre Johnson

And the Bears are 7-0!

In one league, I started LT and LJ, along with Wayne, Grossman, and Plax.

I'm already up to 160+ points, breaking the league record. Still have Steve Smith and Panthers D to go. Hoping to break 200.

(Keeper league, obviously.)

LOL...these losses would be much harder to take if the Steelers were actually playing well. Some years it's just not meant to be. This team will be back, maybe not this year, but they have the young talent to compete for a while.

Another worthless thread in the Shark Pool. No pissing in the Pool please.
:potkettle:
:goodposting: Stiller fans make enough boasting threads here, you even have your own "smilie"Roll with the punches when you lose.
Any team that has enjoyed the success of the Steelers for the past five seasons and most of the past 15 seasons will have their share of boastful comments from its fans. It's not disproportionate. I think the majority of the threads that include pro-Steelers posts start like this one -- simply baiting the Steeler fanbase with obvious sarcasm. As for the towel smiley... the towel has risen beyond a Pittsburgh novelty to become a symbol of the league as a whole. If another team has a similar "organic" symbol emerge simultaneous with a dynasty widely recognized as among the best teams in league history, you can be pretty sure a smiley will follow. It's interesting that it's not enough for you to enjoy the struggles of a team you clearly have no love for -- in fact, you want it both ways. Steeler fans should "roll with the punches" now that the Steelers are losing, but you also don't want to see the Steelers "boasts" when they win. So basically, I guess Steeler fans simply should not post at all.

Did I say the boasting was disproportionate? No.Did I say I didn't want to see the "boasts"?No.I know not all steeler fans fail at reading comprehension, but posts like yours make the rest of you look ignorant.

AAHHH the towels, we just got done burning 4 of them in the parking lot. The 4 steeler fans that tailgated next to us where cool enough to live up to their pre-game boasting/jibbing with us and let us burn their towels. Good times. :banned:

It's ironic that you mention reading comprehension in an effort to insult me. Read my post again and you just might find out that I in no way, shape or form are accusing you of suggestions that Steelers "boast" posts are disproportionate. I love posters who are so eager to be clever that they trip over their own words.

Happy my trade of getting Steven Jackson and Carson Palmer for Mcnabb and Leon Washington went through this morning

I am bold enough to say I am going to win mine. I just don't see who is going to beat me down the stretch. 10 team ppr league High performance scoring 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 Def

QB - Brady (Hasslebeck)

RB - Rudi Johnson (Willis McGahee

RB - Shaun Alexander

WR - Terrell Owens (Roy Williams)

WR - Reggie Wayne

WR - Andre Johnson

TE - Dez Clark

K - Robbie Gould

D - Rotates depending on match-ups and availability.

I just don't see myself losing unless I get unlucky which can always happen. Currently 6-2

You've been here long enough to know that no one cares about your team but you. Quit pissing in the pool.

Apparently, you haven't been watching your team 25% of the time.

I think so....TOTAL POINTS LEAGUE, TD HEAVY, 10 TEAMS

Start 1 QB, 3 RB, 3 WR, 1 K, 1 DEF

McNabb

Plummer

Pennington

Romo

Fred Taylor

LT

Westbrook

Turner

C. Houston

Chris Brown

T.O.

Driver

Ward

Berrian

Horn

Heap

Reggie Williams

Key Johnson

Vinatieri

Carney

Ravens

Denver

Oakland

New England

Those to losses were pre-trade and bye week issues and I am also pretty stupid

This is a league where we dont have backups. Everyone starts

Vick

Rudi

Westbrook

Droughns

Roy Williams

D. Mason

L. Coles

M. Colston

J. Wilkins

I'm leading in points and my scoring is very consistent week to week. I'm taking it all this year.

I bet you lose 2 out of the next 3...

I'd like to think i've got a nice shot,..but i don't see ANOTHER team in my league losing, he's won back to back.

My Roster and starting requirements in sig.

His roster.

McNabb

Larry Johnson

LaDanian Tomlinson

Carnell Williams

Reggie Bush

Torry Holt

Chad Johnson

Randy Moss

Larry Fitzgerald

Matt Jones

Antonio Gates

Jeff Wilkins

Chargers DST

thats his starting lineup and a few reserves, i'm always finishing 2nd,..until people stop making stupid trades with him like (charlie frye, tony gonzalez for Gates) he'll keep winning.

Wow...that is an all star team if I ever seen one. Is that dynasty or is he that crafty?I've been trying to mold my team for the playoffs and I think I have what I consider my final team. Looking at the future schedules I should be good to go unless I play a team that just has an awesome week.QB - Favre/Rivers (been playing the matchups and it's worked out excellent)RB- Chester Taylor (cake playoff schedule)RB- S.Alexander (traded away TJ and Walker for him and a WR, awesome playoff schedule)WR- HarrisonWR- C.JohnsonWR- Jennings (clayton, lelie, parker)TE - HeapK - LongwellDef- San Diego / NE

Most owners would quit a league that had a team with that monopoly on talent.

Those 2 man leagues are tough.
