Bored Upgrade - discussion (1 Viewer)

Why are there only two options for gender?  This seems very restrictive in the progressive world we live in today.  Please add the following.

Per Invision, the issue people are having with the boards saving their old posts/quotes is a feature rather than a bug. With new software, the replies you start posting are saved automatically so you can come back to them later. You should be able to delete the contents of the editor if you don't need them anymore. Each topic will save it's own draft and they are saved in your browser, so they are never sent to the server. Just remember to delete the post before backing out I guess.

Also, index rebuild appears to be complete and search function should be working. Hopefully better than before.

 
I don't have many issues with the new board. I guess I don't take my internetting seriously enough. But props to Greg, Rude and MT for providing at least some transparency during the process. :thumbup:

Still was not able to delete the old post (delete and backspace could not get rid of the quote box when it was selected). However, I was able to cut the box out. Messy but it did get rid of it. Not sure why it's so difficult on mobile now.

 
Also with the search indexing now active, is that the reason why the pages are loading a lot slower the last few days? On mobile my screen will turn off before the "show threads I posted in" query runs. Used to be bang bang.

So italics or bold inside a spoiler box cause any normal font text after it to show up before the spoiler is opened.  Maybe colors, fonts too, didn't check them.

If I did the italics manually with i in brackets and /i in brackets, it didn't have a problem.  Also, if I just posted everything in normal font, then edited my post to add the italics or bold through the normal menu, it was fine.  So the latter is probably the easiest work around.

The "loading" pop up.  Please remove it.  Occasionally freezes brand new computer.  Always freezes my Galaxy S5.   I know I've clicked on "next page" or made a "reply":, I don't need a reminder that my page will be advancing soon, which now doesn't advance at all on phone.

 
The notification ribbon. Can we have that sync to the notifications page so that when I click the ribbon and it takes me to the post, I don't still see a red notification up top?

When you click on the search box, one of the first options to the left, under "All content" is "This forum only". If that doesn't get you what you want, you could click on "titles only" under the search box on the results page, or click more options which gives plenty of tweaking options.

Guys they didnt get rid of sigs, they just moved it to the Interest field of your profile.  Put your fantasy teams there.

It takes three searches to get to the right options, and you have to wait between each one because if you click the button too fast, you get the error page for not waiting long enough between searches. Then you have to start over and wait again.

The "Advanced Search" page should show all the options by default. It shouldn't take multiple searches to unlock the feature to limit the search, which is the point of the delay in the first place. I'm lightening the server load by limiting the search to one forum and titles only at the same time, I shouldn't have to wait 15 seconds to make the query three times to get the same result.

This Walking Boot guy really has a lot invested in #####ing about things that take a half second of intuition. One search for "Gordon" in "This forum" didn't bring up any Shark Pool threads.

try changing it from "All Content" to "This Forum" first.

Then you can click on more options to limit the scope.

I'm on desktop.  Went to the Shark Pool. 

I click in the search bar under my name (not the very top right one which would be searching the FF content).  The moment I click in the box, it extends to the left and says All Content.  I type in Gordon, and I click on All Content and changed it to This Forum.   I typed in Gordon and hit the search icon and it pulled up threads with Gordon in them.  Up top after the search there was an option to only show content with Gordon in the titles, though it wasn't really necessary unless I wanted to find a really old thread since I could see most of them already.

The only issue I have hit with it was after I did a couple of searches, one time it extended to show the All Content, but it flickered and disappeared and didn't let me change it anymore.  I refreshed the page and it worked fine again.

Invision confirmed that there's no way to filter posts by forum directly on the Advanced Search screen. You have to search "This Forum", then filter the results with the + More Search Options button. They made the change to make searching faster and less likely to bog down the system under load.

 
Can we please have all the Donald Trump threads merged.  I want to make America great again as much as everyone else, but one thread is enough for this.

There's currently 2 ******OFFICIAL******** threads constantly on the first page and a couple others that get bumped to the first page occasionally.

 
So when I use the custom thingy to only show posts I replied in, it only gives me one page, with no option to click on other pages....so basically, that custom function is useless. Nice "upgrade", Invision. Time to branch out and find a forum that has software that makes sense.
