Brady seen wearing walking boot (1 Viewer)

Brady, the boot & WEEI

by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff January 21, 2008 10:00 PM

The New York Post published a picture today in which Patriots QB Tom Brady looked to be wearing a boot over his right foot.

Earlier in the day, Brady was asked if he had sustained a leg injury during his weekly appearance on sports radio WEEI.

"There are always kind of bumps and bruises," Brady told the Dennis & Callahan Show. "I'll be ready for the Super Bowl. I'm not missing this one. I'd have to be on a stretcher to miss this one. There will just be some treatment this week and like I said, games like this you get a little nicked up."

The stalkers better leave Brady alone!

We know where this is going... some Giants fan at TMZ says something mean about the GF :lmao: , a fight breaks out  , and next thing we see is Brady's throwing arm in a brace. :hot:

I wonder if his shoulder will still be questionable.
haha, Tom's shoulder will be on the injury report 20years after he's done playing. He'll have like a full week to rest, i don't think there is much to worry about his foot. Same thing Rivers(i'll run a 5.4 40 instead of a 5.1 now) said will apply to Brady for the super bowl.

I'm not buying this. I could totally see this as some sort of Gamesmanship engineered the Emperor. But then again, we are free to dream!

One more time, We Want Brady!

Brady had the same look in his eyes last week as he did in the Titans game in 2002, when he played the whole game with 2nd-degree separation in his shoulder.

I doubt that we are going to get a breakdown and explanation of this at this stage of the game. Even my guy is getting shut out of the loop on this one. If I hear anything I wil let people know, but I suspect all we will get is whatever statement the team is going to make (which likely will not say much of anything).

If he's limping, in two weeks he'll be fine or injected with something to manage the pain. He doesn't have to move in the pocket that much anyways. They can probably just put a recliner back there for him so he doesn't strain the ankle while Moss takes his 3-4 seconds to get down the field.

This a ploy, nothing more.

What does Tatum have to do with this?

I'm not buying that it is a ploy as Brady was limping some as he headed off the field after the Chargers game. I don't believe it is serious and I doubt it will have any impact on the SB, but I do not think this is fabricated. At this point I would chalk it up to what Brady said . . . normal bumps and bruises after playing a tough game.

An orthopedic expert tells the New York Post that the "cam walker" Tom Brady wore on Monday was the result of trauma to Brady's foot.

"This is not just a simple strain or a sprain," Dr. Rick Positano says. Positano speculates that Brady may have an Achilles' injury, though it's worth noting that the NY Post column is extremely biased against anything Patriots. Patriots spokesman Stacey James had no comment on Brady's injury.

BLOOD in the water for Osi & Strahan.

I did not see much of a limp in that video..he made it up the stairs carrying flowers. If something was broken he would have been more hobbled.

They are very quiet couple...

I've worn the same type of aircast/boot for foot, lower leg, and ankle injuries and at no time was it considered anything serious. IMO, this could be anything at this point and most doctors would not want to be guessing about someone's condition especially when they haven't even treated the patient.I'm not saying it is or it isn't anything in particular, only that someone seeing a picture of something IMO is being extremely speculative not knowing any of the particulars, even if that person is a doctor.

The NY Post = The National Inquirer or NY newspapers. With that said, the Giant DE's will no doubt go after that leg.

Teams have been going after both of Brady's legs all season, so I doubt this changes anything in terms of defensive strategy. It's not like Jesse Ventura is going to put Brady in a figure four leg lock or anything.

I don't think there's a better sports section in NY though.....Newsday is a close 2nd and that's pretty much it.

Hopeful thinking. Dan Marino could stand in that pocket TODAY and be ok.J

Here's what the Boston Globe is writing on this at this point . . .

Brady favoring right foot

Charger hits apparently 'nicked up' quarterback

Patriots QB Tom Brady is spotted wearing what appeared to be a walking boot on his right foot Monday in New Yor

Christopher L. Gasper, Globe Staff / January 22, 2008

FOXBOROUGH - Tom Brady may have an actual reason to be on the injury report for Super Bowl XLII.

Tom Brady's right foot was under wraps yesterday in New York, but he promises he'll be in full uniform for the Super Bowl. The quarterback, who has played in 126 straight games despite being a staple of the injury ledger because of his right shoulder, was photographed in New York City yesterday with what appeared to be a walking boot on his right foot.

The gossip website TMZ.com posted a 1-minute-18-second video clip featuring Brady and his supermodel girlfriend Gisele Bundchen in New York. On the video, a hooded Brady, who is seen carrying a duffel bag and flowers, is noticeably favoring his right foot.

Last night, Patriots spokesman Stacey James said the team had no comment on the picture of Brady. The team is off until Thursday and the next injury report isn't due until Wednesday of next week.

Brady appeared to be limping Sunday as he left his news conference following the Patriots' 21-12 victory over the San Diego Chargers in the AFC Championship game.

Yesterday, Brady did not directly answer a question about being hurt during his regular appearance on WEEI's "Dennis and Callahan" show. When he was asked about having his leg looked at on the sideline early in the fourth quarter, he replied:

"There are always kind of bumps and bruises. I'll be ready for the Super Bowl. I'm not missing this one. I'd have to be on a stretcher to miss this one. There will just be some treatment this week and, like I said, games like this you get a little nicked up, but it's nothing serious."

Brady was sacked twice Sunday and appeared to be slightly hobbled after Igor Olshansky and Stephen Cooper tackled him for an 8-yard loss on the final drive of the game.

An injury might explain Brady's subpar - by his MVP standards - performance against the Chargers. He was 22 of 32 for 209 yards and two touchdowns, but was intercepted three times, including once in the end zone by Antonio Cromartie late in the third quarter, Brady's first red zone pick in two seasons.

However, it should be noted that a presumably healthy Brady threw three interceptions against the Chargers in the postseason last year as well.

Brady seemed subdued and frustrated after Sunday's game.

Just the week before, in a 31-20 playoff victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars at Gillette Stadium, Brady had been pinpoint accurate, completing his first 16 passes and setting an NFL record for highest completion percentage in a game by going 26 of 28 (92.9 percent) for 262 yards and three touchdowns with zero interceptions.

During the regular season, Brady threw an NFL-record 50 touchdown passes and just eight interceptions, authoring another mark with a plus-42 TD/interception differential.

The 18-0 Patriots will try to complete a perfect 19-0 season by defeating the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLII Feb. 3. If Brady were unable to play, the Patriots backups are third-year player Matt Cassel, who in six games this season has completed 4 of 7 passes for 38 yards and an interception that was returned for a touchdown, and undrafted rookie Matt Gutierrez.

And Tom Brady has the best footwork of anyone in the pocket since Dan Marino.

The books may get killed on a 13 or 14 point game.
i don't thing the pats win by 2 TDs unless eli has a monumental breakdown; he's and the giants are too much on a roll for that to happen. pats by 10 IMO
do you think someone like Belichick will be able to get in Eli's head? He's only known for causing headaches for some of the games best passers.

As expected, the Patriots have implemented the Cone of Silence on this one. From what I am hearing no one related to the team will touch the subject.

Apparantly he is ok. Was out clubbing until 3 or so last night, with a nice awkward moment sitting next to Leo DiCaprio's table... and he was not wearing the cast.

:goodposting:

FWIW, he was subsequently photographed without the boot.

I am loving this. When I am on TMZ my wife has no idea that I am reading about football.

EDIT: I am thinking that if this was serious BB wouldn't be letting Brady out of his sight, but that's just me.
"Shouldn't he be studying game film rather than carousing with his girlfriend" - T. Romo
"Get back to me when you win one bowl" - T. Brady

Tom Brady wins so much, he uses the word "win" even when it's not appropriate. THAT'S a winner.
