Brady takes 49 of 50 votes in MVP voting (1 Viewer)

As they say To the victors goes the spoils. Brady not getting the award would have upset much precedent. He was the record setting signal caller on a notoriously good offense and his team went 16 and 0.That said his statistical excellence was not that far above Romo, Favre, Manning, and others. Many of those others battled through greater adversity to put up their numbers. Manning was without his top W.R. for most of the year. Romo was under a new system and without his #2 W.R. the entire year. Favre saw significant injuries to his #2 W.R., his #1 and #2 T.E. He saw both his tackles play hurt and injured. He had rotating guards all year due to injury. He saw injury and ineffective play remove their first two R.B.'s and he had to cover for a defense that was often down to its last D.B. and saw its defensive line rotation decimated by injury. I'm not saying Favre should get the award, nor Manning, nor Romo. If the top Q.B. is on the top offense of the top team I do believe it goes there. I just note that others had extraordinary seasons as well, and under more difficult circumstances than Brady had. Brady homers tell us we need to appreciate his greatness. Perhaps. Perhaps they could take a few minutes away from their attention to Brady and look at the other magnificent performances out there. If Alesandra Ambrosio is struting down one side of the street I'd gawk too. I would, however, turn away to watch the rest of the Victoria Secret models on the other side of the street.
I dont think any of us reasonable fans are discounting the other great seasons by the other great QBs. But with all due respect, the other QBs like Romo were nowhere near Brady. Brady threw for 50 and ran in 2. Romo threw for 36 and ran in 2. So a 14 TD difference from the #2 QB statistically is not that far above? Cmon. 4 or 5 TDs difference isnt far above. 14 TDs? That's crushing everyone statistically. But I understand your point that other guys had great seasons and props to them. But we're talking about MVPs here, so no need to really speak about anyone in this discussion but that particular guy. This adversity you mention that the other great Qs dealt with should be recognized. But how about the adversity of being targeted for about your last 7 or 8 games of the year as if its every other team's Superbowl and without a doubt getting their best game? Dealing with the pressure of chasing the '72 team and every team wanting to be the David that takes down Goliath? They werent just playing ordinary regular season games. They were playing for history, and every other team was as well. Look at Baltimore for example. They take on New England as if there lives were at stake, then turn around and lose to Miami 2 weeks later? That sums it up. The Pats and Brady have dealt with that bullseye for quite some time, and they managed to survive every test. So now doubt you give full respect to what all the other MVP candidates for having great seasons regardless of team and position. But when the award is decided, you tend to not worry about those other players for atleast a day or 2 so you can savor the accomplishment a little for the top guy.
Not to mention Brady leads in EVERY category for a passer, save for attempts and completions, which is led by Brees. While being #1 in TD's with 50, and playing every game, being second in pass attempts, he threw only 8 INT's all season. Favre had 15, on less attempts, and only 28 TD's. That's a huge discrepancy. He completed almost 70% of his passes, adn led the league with a 117+ rating. Favre was over 20 points behind. Take the rating for what it's worth, but the reality is it's the only cumulative QB stat we have. All that together, adn people can honestly say that Favre deserved a vote for MVP? It's laughable. He had a good season. Brady's was historic in the achievement.

I don't think Brady deserved it....if it goes to a Patriot, it should have gone to Moss... take away Moss & Welker and Brady does exactly what he did last year and the Pats win 10 games, maybe 11...However, I really think Favre should have gotten it... Take Favre off the Packers and they win 4 games tops... with him they won 13...
Let me know this weekend after the Seahawks beat the Pack if you still think Favre deserves the MVP.As far as Brady vs Moss, I have to side with the Brady camp here. You can say all you want about how Brady wouldn't have done any of this without Moss but it is clear that Moss CAN NOT do what he did without Brady.Brady with average WR's= goes to playoffs and wins superbowls.Moss with average QB= #####es his way out of Oakland.Tom Brady made Moss better, not the other way around. Don't get me wrong, Moss has talent but he has shown that his work ethic is lacking at times where as Brady is the consummate professional making everyone around him better. There is a reason for not only Moss's stats, but Welkers as well.
