Brady's Favorite Red-Zone Target? (1 Viewer)

In mini camp Brady continuously went to Jackson in the red-zone. With the receiving corps in flux, will this rookie parlay his camp success into the season? I'm not a big fan of drafting rookie receivers, but this kid may have landed in a perfect situation.

Excellent Camp For Some Rookies

Michael Felger, Boston Herald - [Full Article]

The rookie skill position players had an excellent camp, particularly third-round pick tight end Dave Thomas. The Texas tight end displayed excellent hands throughout the camp. Running back Laurence Maroney and wide receiver Chad Jackson also brought fresh legs and good skill. Brady went repeatedly to Jackson at the back of the end zone during red-zone drills. The one rookie who struggled noticeably was tight end/fullback Garrett Mills, who had several drops. LINK

NE spreads the ball around, so i don't know what kind of stats to expect... but in his physical traits, measurables, skill set, jackson reminds me of a young chad johnson & javon walker...

It sounds to me like they're grooming him to take Givens' spot. That was a common route for him. I don't think this means he'll put up better numbers than Givens did, but I am glad to hear he's doing well in the role, and I think it bodes well for Brady.

I agree.Pats have had alot of success with TEs in the red zone too over the last 20 years or so, BB's teams too for that matter. TEs might not have huge TD totals other than Coates but muscling a tough catch to the 3 or 4 yard line does some good too.

I totally expect them to send out both Graham and Watson in the red zone alot this year. I don't think many teams have 2 guys that can cover them well enough.

Hey R. White,I thought I read that Mills was "getting it together" and just struggled at first. You see anything like that? What's he struggling with? blocking?
