Branch (1 Viewer)

I picked him up on Tuesday and put him in one of my lineups (we play double headers every other week) and he got me 16 points. I think him and Brady have some nice chemistry and as I don't think he will put up Moss numbers in terms of TD, Branch always had good hands and runs clean routes. I think he is aolready Brady go to guy and could be a lower end WR1...

Trying to decide myself. Is he a Sell or Hold or Keep? It looks like he is going to start and with Welker to draw attention and Brady throwing the ball, he should get his share of looks. In PPR in particular it seems like he should be a steady producer.

Should be a nice start in ppr or even non-ppr because he's going to get a number of targets and even a redzone look like we saw yesterday.

A look at the snaps played by Patriots skill-position players on offense in the team’s 23-20 overtime win over the Ravens (as charted in press box, small margin for error):

TE Aaron Hernandez – 63 of 76

WR Wes Welker – 62 of 76

WR Deion Branch – 54 of 76

RB Danny Woodhead – 51 of 76

TE Rob Gronkowski – 45 of 76

TE Alge Crumpler – 35 of 76

WR Brandon Tate – 35 of 76

RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis – 24 of 76

WR Julian Edelman – 8 of 76

FB Sammy Morris – 2 of 76

FB Dan Connolly – 1 of 76

(Penalties included, except for delay of game.)

ANALYSIS: It turned out Deion Branch was the primary replacement for Randy Moss. After just four days of practice, Branch played in two- and three-receiver packages and it was as if he never left the team. … The improbable story of Danny Woodhead took another surprising turn as he was the team’s workhorse in this game. He was utilized in two-receiver packages for the first time this season. … Wes Welker took Moss’s place in most one-receiver sets. … The Patriots paired Branch and Welker in one two-receiver grouping and also had a Brandon Tate/Julian Edelman grouping. … The 76 snaps were a season high, with 53 coming in the second half and overtime.

I had him down last week as getting 45 of 60 (75%) projected snaps and being an integral part of the offense moving forward. He was in on 71%, so I was pretty close.

I was wondering if Yudkin could comment on Brandon Tate's role going forward - it seemed as if he played less snaps in this game than he did in the Miami game.

You have to figure that Branch already knew a good chunk of the playbook (or could easily pick it back up) and that the Patriots probably game-planned to have him pretty much once the Moss deal went down and focused on the bread-and-butter plays they used when he was there. Not the biggest surprise - I mean they valued him as being only 30 draft-positions lower than Moss.

The more I think about it, the more I might be tempted to look at him if I can carve out a spot for him.
