: Poor Randy Moss, gets dealt out of the AFC East and his first game is against Darrelle Revis(notes) and the Jets. Tough break. Oh well, it makes the decision to sit Moss pretty easy for his owners

Is anyone really sitting Randy if they have him Monday Night? No Way Jose

Hell no. I ain't sitting Moss unless Moss ain't playing that game any week in 2010. I am in the camp that says he shows up to every game with a chip on his shoulder the size of the state of Minnesota the rest of the way.Funston is one of the biggest has-beens that took Yahoo's money and ran. He's terrible - whether this dart he's throwing hits or not.

Revis on his first week back from injury isn't very scary.

Unless someone is super stacked at wr sitting an extremely motivated moss is not a bright move.

My concern would be Revis so much as what, if any, chemistry will he and Farve have. Or, with two all time greats, does that matter as much? Chuck and run under it.

I think Moss will be pumped for this game as well as Favre .. but the rapport won't be the best (between them) with a minimal account of practice time...but still you start that dude.

All Moss needs to know is go deep.

I figured I was lucky and gonna face Moss on a bye, im very disappointed to now have to face him on monday night. He has all the motivation in the world after that stinker he put up this monday.

I tend to agree with the comments made. But that does not mean that the position Funston takes is entirely without foundation. I would feel better about Moss if he'd had a couple of weeks of practice with Favre, and if he wasn't facing the Jets.

People starting Moss will be sad come Tuesday morning. While the combo may be great going forward, no way they fire on all cylinders against the Jets and Revis with a couple days practice.

Revis is the one who isn't getting practice time with that hammy.

Favre is going to air that ball out ala Monday night vs Denver a couple years ago (Greg Jennings).

What is the line on this game? Get your bets in early.

Moss has always liked Monday nights. He like to have big games on national TV.
He just put up a doughnut two days ago on Monday Night.
He was traded two days later, and I'm sure he was enthusiastic about it. It's clear the zero didn't sit well with him. I think it's a poor matchup. The Vikings haven't looked good, the Jets are running the ball very well, they're on the road and Revis is back. Not saying you bench him (depends on what you have, obviously) but there are a number of reasons why this isn't the ideal debut for him.

I wouldn't sit him, but those of you that are thinking 100 yards and a couple scores are crazy. Let's not forget the quality of the Vikings OL, and the Jets do have an above average defense. Throw in the fact it's a road game, and a quarterback with a bum wheel, it just doesn't add up to a big night for Moss imo. I think it's going to be a big night for the Jets D and especially the Jets passing game.

I'm benching Moss this week, but not because of Revis.

I'm benching Moss because he's old, he's slow, and he doesn't know the playbook. He's going to be a glorified decoy out there on Monday night.

Favre and Moss is a match made in heaven. I think they instantly gel and Jaws and Grood fawn over them all game.

Moss will torch Revis in the first half. Revis will act like his hammy is hurting him to try to save face and not come back out for the second.

He's slow? Vikings will have a couple plays for Moss ready to go, even though ADP is still the biggest part of the offense. Also, you overestimate the importance of the playbook because Favre is a gunslinger! He wanted Moss in Green Bay, he will look to get him the ball. They are a great fit together.

If you think this poorly of Moss you should look to offload him, he's worth more to other owners than he is to you.

I expect to see little more than jump balls for Randy, not enough time to learn the playbook or routes.

But, with Randy, that's enough to make him a decent start. Just don't expect more than a few receptions and a TD or two.

In two leagues, my options are one of Dez, Moss, or Witten and in the other I need 3 of Moss, EBennett, Chambers and Shockey. Pretty easy decision to start Moss in the 2nd league, while in the first it's more difficult but we'll probably roll Moss there too.

Just NE preserving their trade bait.
Moss was bait vs Dolphins. Deal was done...Patriots Knew it, Vikings knew it, Moss knew it, Brady knew it, etc...Brady never looked his way (except for trick play at goaline, for old time sake IMO)...Game plan was, "Randy don't get hurt, Tom don't even look his way" or the Deal won't go through.

Considering I had to start Johnny Knox when Moss had a bye with NE, I will gladly start Moss in his place now.

His new Qb IS A HUGE ISSUE TO CONSIDER HERE GUYS.. bf WILL THROW IT UP FOR Moss EVEN IF HE IS TRIPLED COVERED..

Revis is the one who isn't getting practice time with that hammy.
Revis was quoted saying if the game was today, he wouldn't be able to play.
He practiced yesterday and said he was close to 100%. I'm starting Moss, but I'm not expecting a whole lot. Revis is legit.

you think favre cares about Revis? Favre would throw into double coverage if it was a young Deon Sanders and Champ Bailey covering David terrell or Dwayne Jarrett. Moss may not catch all of them , but you have to be kidding yourself if you dont think #4 isnt going to chuck the deep ball to Moss a few times Monday Night. His lack of concern for the result of an errand pass and his slightly inflated ego will make him take numerous shots down field.

I've read that the Jets may switch coverage up a good bit and put Cromartie on Moss. Cromartie is 6'2" and will better defend those Favre jump balls. Cromartie covered Moss in the 2nd half of the Pats/Jets game after Revis left and Moss was shut down.

That said, I think one of the biggest reasons to be excited about Moss is the change of scenery. I don't believe he was giving his best effort on the field every play in NE, and the "chip on the shoulder" factor is going to be huge. Whether it's enough to torch the Jets D is another story, but I can't see sitting him unless my options were really really good otherwise in Week 5.

In leagues that give WRs points for tackles, Moss is a money play.

That's a plus for Moss IMO... he is at his best when he is allowed to go make plays.Heck , I dont care if Favre trhows 4 INTs on 60 yard jump balls into triple coverage......as long as Moss hauls in 1 for a TD.

Playbook my foot! I have a street football picture in my mind when Brett is calling the plays in the huddle: he calls the play then at the end says "...and Randy you go long".

One thing is for sure. Brett aint afraid to let it go. And he's been known to be pretty good on MNF too. The comment about Jaws and Grudden fawning over the pair is right on.

first of all, you don't sit Moss.

Secondly, word out of Jets camp is that they won't be having Revis cover Moss on MNF. they dont want him running the long extended routes that Moss likely will. Cromartie will be covering Moss.

Moss owner here. I'm not concerned about Revis. I'm concerned that Moss hasn't had time to get used to catching passes thrown by Favre's laser rocket arm.
brady has a stronger arm than favre in 2010.

I am not going to bench Moss this week, only because you never know what might happen. I think you have to have a pretty stacked roster to get by with sitting him unless of course you were planning on him having a bye this week.

Moss had a couple catches and a TD against Revis and was shut down once Revis was out of there. Not sure this is a good start....

I'm not really a Moss fan (or Favre for that matter) but for the "he doesn't know the playbook/hasn't practiced with the QB" crowd...as a point of reference, Braylon Edwards last year put up 5 for 64 and a TD in his first game as a Jet following the in-season trade. He scored on his first catch and almost had another TD later if I remember correctly. And if Braylon can do it...

Just like last week?
Why do people keep posting this as if Randy Moss had anything to do with last Monday's goose egg?He had 1 poorly thrown target, wtf is he supposed to do about that? -and has anyone considered they avoided him because they knew he was being dealt and wanted to avoid a last minute injury?I think people are also forgetting Cromartie did an outstanding job on Moss in his previous match up with the Jets when Revis went out with his hammy strain. I AM starting Moss but im tempering my expectations. I'll be psyched to get double digits of any kind out of him, even 5 for 56 will do. I was going to start Amendola with Moss on the bye, and im still tempted to do so, but i'm going to have some faith that Moss DOES have a chip on his shoulder and Favre will do his typical audible out of run plays to chuck a few his way and see what happens.
