Brandon Jackson - How'd he look? (1 Viewer)

I didn't get the Packer's game here, so I didn't get to see how Jackson ran. I watched the NFL.com highlight with his 1 big run, which he looked good on, but obviously it was just 1 run. Based on how high Jackson went in rookie drafts this year, I'm sure people are curious to know how he looked after getting to run behind a line that is finally starting to gel in the run game.

Not as good as Ryan Grant.
That's fine, but I was looking for more details. He may never take the job from Grant, but he could always end up with another team and get a shot. Did he dance a lot? Slow to make decisions? Bad in pass protection?

The Lions made Darren Sproles look like an all-pro.

I would not judge anyone base on their performance against a team that lost four games by 30 or more points.

Let me put that in perspective: the Miami Dolphins (1-15) worst loss was a 27 deficit.

He ran through a bunch of quitters, so I would take it with a grain of salt.

I thought he looked OK. Better than what he showed earlier this year, but anyone could have ran on Detroit today. He did show some burst on his longer runs, along with some nice balance while he ran through/by a few guys, but he is still making some dumb mistakes(onside kick). Grant is still much better at this point and I'd only view Jackson as a back-up.

B. Favre had a 21 yard run today.

Jackson can't control the quality of the D he plays against. Yeah, Detroit sucks - we all get it. But Jackson ran well today - showed good burst, maintained his balance despite getting popped a few times, fought for extra yards, and most importantly he didn't make any major mistakes. At this point, he doesn't have the vision of R Grant - but let's face it, he probably never will.

Bottom line: Jackson looked solid today.

He still looks indecisive. The thing that he seems to always do is stop moving forward and just chop his feet. It's like he's trying to see something and before it opens up, he's tackeled and he's down. Grant makes his decisions and his cuts while he's moving forward. Jackson, stops and just chops his feet.

He looked a lot better then he did in the beginning of the year. Ran through more tackles instead of falling down. He did stop and start on a few runs and when he did he went no where. Of course the line blocked a lot better for him which is interesting since several starting lineman were knocked out with leg injuries and Clifton went out when Favre went out. Rookie Babre played a lot at left guard.

Grant still is more decisive and runs through the tackles better but Jackson is learning. It will be interesting to see how Jackson does after a full year of body building. Anyone know if he lives in Green Bay and will attend the entire off season body building program? He's still pretty small, playing only 3 years in college, and I think he could put on 15 to 20 pounds in the off season if he stays around.

Well to be fair, Jackson is really more of a cutback runner and Grant is more of a one cut, downhill runner. So in the Packer offensive scheme, it's no surprise really that Grant looks better. If Jackson can get stronger and learn to be more decisive while still keeping his cutback abilities, he could outshine Grant in the future. Not sure if he'll ever get there though.

Jackson looked solid while he got playing time. This game might stop all the stupid posting around the net and in mock drafts that the Pack still needs to draft a RB in the early rounds. I swear some people have not watched Grant this season and think Packers biggest need is a RB in round one.

Jackson should be a solid backup to Grant next year with a year under his belt and another training camp.

Huh? Grant looks better because he is better than Jackson.

Just watch out....if you say something bad about Jackson....Furley will go nuts.
 :bye:Jackson looked good. the one thing i noticed was that he isn't nearly as decisive as Grant. but he has definitely improved. he ran hard, made good decisions and moved the pile. he looked fine. that said... the Lions are truly an awful awful football team. that was embarrassing.

I disagree depending on what you mean by "better". I think Jackson has more talent than Grant. But he's not an NFL back yet. He needs to learn more about the little things in playing RB. Grant has learned a lot of those already and his strengths are better suited to the system than Jackson's. But I think it's clearly a case of lower ceiling/higher floor with Grant compared to Jackson.

Still defending your boy, eh?Jackson still stinks. If it wasn't the Lions, it would've been more obvious just how bad of an RB he really is...
