Without being privy to all their conversations and to what the doctors told Marshall it is hard to know how to judge this, but generally, the NFL does not have a good track record of showing concern for the long term health of their players. Marshall may be thinking--I have no long term contract and I am injured and I could make the injury worse which would totally deplete my free agent value.
