Unless they are transplanting Quinn's hands onto Edwards, then it won't help. Edward thrives on the deep stuff, but drops a lot of them. I don't think it will change much overall.

I think Edwards stock drops, he might have a good or even great game tonight because they are at home against the worst defense in football. But Quinn didn't exactly look great in preseason and will struggle for the rest of the year, especially with their tough schedule. The only plus Quinn has is that he has the ability to scramble and make a big play happen. Anderson was playing better and in turn Edwards was improving as well, and Edwards certainly didn't help Anderson by dropping a lot of passes including a TD last week. If Edwards continues having the dropsies it will not help the inexperienced Quinn at all. With all that said, I hope I'm wrong because I just traded for Edwards last week.
I think braylon's targets will stay the same, its a matter of him catching the damn ball. With that said, I'll still play him this week because this should be a good matchup regardless of QB. If Quinn does bad against Denver, I wouldn't start Braylon anytime soon after that.

Are you kidding? It could get a lot worse. In his last 4 games he has 362 yards and 2 TDS. That's pretty solid compared to what his previous 4 games were before that. Under 100 total yards and 1 TD. So it can easily get worse, especially with Quinn in.How can it get any worse?

Hurts. New QBs tend to go to the guys they've developed a rapport with on the 2nd string and TEs. They also check the ball down to the RBs more often. I don't see Quinn and Edwards hooking up for big numbers for a few weeks.

I'm not going to argue Braylon's drops. DA made some beautiful throws that flat out should have been caught, including that bomb last week. That being said, people are forgetting just how horribly inconsistent DA had been all year. For every pass he put on Edward's hands, he threw 3 that weren't even close, or were not timed correctly, or not thrown at all because his progressions were horrid. DA's getting off way to easy on this because Braylon had some drops. He's looked like a good QB one time all year - vs the Giants.JPeso said:

A case could be made in either direction. DA has problems throwing the short an intermediate routes with consistency. If Quinn can do this it opens up the offense in a lot of ways. More first downs, more time of possession and more TDs can only help Braylon (mind you that Braylon is averaging 8 targets a game with essentially no real #2 WR and KW2 as the only other player getting more than 3 t/g there is plenty of room for him to increase in looks).
On the other hand Quinn could be jumpy and look to his checkdowns to much.

Someone mentioned any opinions on Quinn would just be a guess, no one knows. I dunno, I think preseason and coaches opinions give us some pretty strong clues.I think he will check down a lot. That is not always a bad thing. He won't hold onto the ball too long and take a sack. He won't force a ball into coverage. He won't be a gunslinger and might not take too many shots downfield (not great news for BE owners), but of Lewis runs effectively - and he should be able to v. the Broncos - then they should be successful.That's been the early/unknown book on Quinn. We'll see if it holds true, or if he develops a more vertical pasing game. Given the short week for his first start, I think he won't try to be a playmaker this week. Might be a good week for Winslow and Harrison/Wright, perhaps not so for Edwards and Stallworth (assuming the latter doesn't pull something warming up tonight).

Perhaps I'm overthinking this...but it seems to me that the Browns are giving Quinn a fairly gentle introduction to the NFL here. Defense doesn't come much worse than the Denver's right now. While they are ranked 27th against the pss, which may excite Edwards owners (like myself), they are also 26th against the Run. Is this not a game where Lewis runs 30 times and Quinn simply manages the game with hand-offs and a few short passes?
I don't know. If I'm Denver and I'm facing a QB making his first NFL start, a WR that's been dropping passes all year I'm completely selling out to stop the run. Let Quinn prove he can throw accurately and efficiently in a real game situation. Make Edwards prove that he can catch the ball consistently. Denver still has a poweful offense and Cleveland isn't exactly a top defense either. A rough start for Quinn and the Browns and they could find themselves down early, forcing to go away from the run completely.

Maybe if Cleveland could stop anyone. But they couldn't even stop Flacco. Browns are going to have to pass.

He's locked in on Winslow FWIW. Edwards I think has had 2 targets so far.
Threads like these always amuse me. Out of 100 replies, you will usually get an even 50/50 split in opinions with a 3.8 % margin for error. With very little empirical data to analyze, its all a guessing game. So from the looks of a half, his looks/numbers will deminish. However, the reason being given by many is not necessarily the case. FUrthermore, he can turn around and score twice in the 2nd half. Or he can go for 3 next game. Whatever the case may be, quinn is looking more than half decent in there, albeit against a really crap D. I think braylon will be find, though I have nothing substantial to back that up with...

This was a fairly predictable outcome, at least for this game. Most expected Cleveland to run quite a bit and Brady to dump off to the RB's and TE's. 17 of 23 completions went to RB's/TE's and they had 29 rushes.
Cleveland lost, but Quinn got some real game experience and looked surprisingly good (at least in my opinion.) The real question is going forward are we going to see more of the same, or are we going to see Quinn and the Browns open it up a bit.
My opinion is that Quinn opens it up some more as he gets more comfortable. But, Braylon Edwards continues to underachieve, a combination of drops and fewer targets makes Edwards a WR3 the rest of the way.
