Breaking Bad on AMC (13 Viewers)

Couple questions:

1) How did Walt get Brock to take the poison?

2) How could Mike possibly get out of the park when the cops surrounded it?

I love when modern shows draw from ancient mythology. Naming episodes "Kafkaesque" and "Ozymandias" and making allusions to Sisyphus, for example, were awesome.
Bump. Would like to see an answer to these questions as I have the same ones.... the poison was always a mystery.
On 1, we don't have a "real" answer. Gilligan at one point said in an interview that Walt likely got it to Brock by poisoning his juice box in school off-screen, or something like that. It was just something we had to accept as a leap of faith.

I don't remember the situation surrounding your 2nd question...been a while.

We didn't see how he poisoned Brock, so there is no answer to that one.

Did they ever say for sure if those cops at the park were there for Mike? I remember there being two cop cars. The assumption being that the lawyer who flipped told the feds where Mike was (since he called Mike to find out where he was right before Walt called him to tell him that the cops were after him), but could the cops have gotten to that location in less than a minute, even if the lawyer's phone was tapped and the feds were listening? Hard to know. I thought the idea behind the two cops cars was to show Mike's feeling of the cops closing in on him, and him not having time to say goodbye to his granddaughter, rather than those actual cops being after him.

I really enjoyed Breaking Bad, but it's hard for me to consider it a better show than ALF.
You're equating Lost with ALF?Now who's being silly?
Willie: You can't vote, ALF, you're not a citizen.

ALF: I'll apply for a green card.

Willie: That's only if you want a job.

ALF: Pass.

[pause]

ALF: I know, I'll marry Lynn. Become a citizen, vote, then drop her like a hot potato.

Willie: ALF...

ALF: Sure it will be hard on her first. She'll cry, drink a little too much. Join with a bongo player named Waquine.

Willie: ALF.

ALF: You'd like Waquine, he doesn't like beets.

Willie: Neither you or Waquine may marry my daughter and you may not vote.

ALF: Fine. I have no voice in government, Waquine will get deported, and they'll make him eat beets.

Willie: How many cups of coffee have you had?

ALF: Forty. Why?

I probably liked Lost's first season more than any season of Breaking Bad, but Lost only went downhill from there while BB got better and better every year.

The cops at the park were watching Kaley, waiting for mike. They didn't look like they were surrounding the park so much as surrounding the girl.

This the same Mike that had hundreds of rounds shot at him only to lose a piece of an ear? If the cops had him surrounded he would just get up and walk away...they would want nothing to do with him.

One major flaw I didn't like was that Jesse would have known that if he tried to escape the compound and got caught, Jack and crew would retaliate against Andrea and Brock, and he never would have taken a chance that that would happen. The threat of that was very explicit with the picture they gave him of Andrea and Brock.

But it can be explained by Jesse being beaten down mentally and not thinking clearly, so it's not an error - just an unlikely scenario imo.
He had no hope...had to try anything

ALF is criminally underrated, seriously

He wasn't surrounded. One patrol car had just showed up.

Exactly, and Mike was a former cop - he knew their typical protocol for a situation like that, so he'd have little trouble slipping out the other side of the park.

I agree he had no hope, but I think Jesse would have rather stayed in his situation than place Andrea and Brock in danger.

I chalk the best explanation in my mind up to Jesse being so beaten down that he was no longer thinking clearly and was just acting on animal instinct at that point: escape.

This is wrong. There were cars both in front of and behind Mike.

At the beginning of Season 3, what was all the Mexicans crawling along the ground on their hands and knees going to that shrine about?

It's not unheard of for some Mexicans to crawl toward a statue of a saint in supplication, and that's what they're doing in the Breaking Bad episode. They're going to a shrine of Santa Muerte, the Mexican "Saint of Death", who is worshipped by drug traffickers because she does not differentiate between requests that are good or evil. The cousins are seeking Santa Muerte's help in killing Walt, (they leave a crude drawing of "Heisenberg" amongst the other tokens on the altar) and the other worshippers are probably looking for help to alleviate them from their poverty, protection from them from the cartels or any number of other requests.

Started watching Under the Dome on amazon prime based on Dean Norris. His acting is so much better than everybody else on the show. In 4 episodes in and I'm ready to quit because they are all so bad and it seems a bit cheesy right now. Stick to it?

Nope. Not even Hank Schrader can save that show. Sucks for Dean because he deserves better.

BTW, I bought the complete Breaking Bad series and Under The Dome prevented Dean from doing any commentary during the last season. Pisses me off even more because he was such a focal point of the last season.

Honestly, the most important thing was probably that he cash in on a nice payday. Then he go do better quality stuff.

So I just finished a multiple week marathon. Hadn't seen one full episode 3 weeks ago, and now I'm done with the series. I thought it was the best seriesI've ever seen, with incredible character development. Exceptionally well written. Very well acted.

There's nothing wrong with saying you love Lost as much as or more than Breaking Bad. Both are great shows.

Here are a list of the completed series that I loved the most, in no particular order:

Lost

Breaking Bad

Battlestar Galactica

24

The West Wing

Friday Night Lights

Firefly
