Breaking Bad on AMC (2 Viewers)

A few things..

Enjoyed the episode, it did not let me down. Even though it was a little predictable who Gus was gonna kill, and I even called out what Gus was gonna say verbatim at the top of the stairs before he got there. Still, enjoyed it.

I think Jesse is gonna start being a bad ###, as he now seems dead inside.

Skyler's sister is now hotter than Skyler. Did not see that coming.

Skyler was Maura on Seinfeld, George's gf who would not let George breakup with her.

Saul is comedy! :lmao:

First time I have ever seen Mike look scared.

You predicted he would kill Victor? I thought that came out of left field. I thought the dropped the whole "did anyone see you " angle for a plot line later in the season.

The thought crossed my mind when Mike said that to Victor. But I was almost convinced when Victor started to cook. From what we know of Gus, Victor completely lost his mind to try and cook. He became a liability on multiple fronts.

That was Alex Kapp HornerAnna Gunn was Amy, a girl Jerry was dating. George thought he saw her making out with Jerry's cousin Jeffery when he was missing his glasses. That was the episode where the air conditioner fell out of Jerry's window.
Good call. Was gonna say that she absolutely must have had some work done on her face since then.

i forgot, how did walt find out that pollo guy was going to take him out?
It's been awhile. Didn't Jesse kill Gus's dealers or something?
oh yeah, but wasn't it walt that ran them over with his car?
Yes, it was Walt (it was very helpful to watch the last 2 eps of last season prior to the season premiere). Gus was certainly not happy about Walt's seeming power play against him and thought Walt was too ambitious or reckless or both. The killing brought unnecessary attention to their affairs (or potentially should/could have) and Gus makes his severe displeasure known in their meeting in the desert.Walt realized how many questions Gale was asking about the cooking process and that as soon as Gale had the method down, that Gus wouldn't need him any more. Then of course Victor comes to pick him up out of nowhere and Mike is there at the lab.

Various thoughts

1) I initially was thinking that Gus thought Victor might work for for his rivals in the Cartel.

2) Bob Odenkirk always kills. I can't wait for him to be on screen.

3) I am really sick of the Hank story line and can't wait for him to get off the screen. I realize that it is important because it is all Walt's fault, but the actual scenes are boring.

4) Regarding some of the so-called coincidences, you have to remember that the story should be interesting. Perhaps it seems far-fetched at times, but if there weren't interesting intersections, would you really want to watch? Interesting and strange things actually do happen in real life and that is where drama comes from. Good fiction should be telling a story that is more interesting than the random, humdrum happenings of "regular" life.

Couldn't agree more, they to do something with that to make it interesting or just ignore it and have him come back healthy in two weeks TV time (which is like 6 months real time) waiving a badge and getting all bad ### on someone.

I knew it when Victor was acting all smug like he knew that Walt and Jesse were going to get it. It was out of character for him so that's why I knew. I guess bad directing or acting gave it away to me. They should have just kept him with a blank look on his face and it would have been more surprising.

I dissagree. I thought it all meant more Victor this season and I was looking forward to it. Totally got me.

The last "two weeks" of the show spaced about 24hrs.

You got a passport right?
I actually would have preferred that they cut some of the Skyler and Saul stuff to show just two straight minutes of Walt and Mike staring at each other. Awesome stuff. When you can show two guys staring at each other and allowing what has transpired over the past 2.5 episodes to ruminate and have you rivetted that is great acting and storytelling.

It goes both ways, don't nitpick ;)

In retrospect you have to think that Victor felt his life was in danger for being seen at the crime, he decided to cook to "prove his worth" and show he provided value, but it back-fired.

I hope that passport stuff doesn't mean Saul is going to be out of the picture.

Totally agree that watching Marie getting Hank equipped with a bedpan was not must-see TV. Watching Hank suffer might help set up the inevitable show down between Hank and Walt, but it is boring.

Does anyone who watches this show like Hank?
I've always liked Hank in the past. He had some great lines. Post-shooting, not so much.

I love HankI think that scene was necessary to show what a world of #### (no pun intended) Hank and Marie's lives have become.

I do like Hank and his bravado (first couple seasons). Then it was interesting to see him shell-shocked after the turtle explosion and try to put on a big act. At this point, though, I don't really care about him enough to continue watching his trials and tribulations.

OK maybe I need to reconsider my feeling toward Hank.

My gut tells me that whole "bidding on-line for minerals" will tie into something in the future.

I disagree. I laughed when he was pissed about his minerals. "I'm BIDDING on MINERALS." Cracked me right up.

Love Hank. He's about the only character on the show worth rooting for.

That's pretty accurate from a moral standpoint. Everyone else on the show except Flynn has "broke bad". Maybe Hank goes all Super Hero towards the end of the season after his recovery setting up the next one as the real showdown between Hank and Walt. What's the Over/Under on when Walt accidentally shows Hank or his ##### wife that he doesn't have a gambling system. 7 episodes?

Even though the rehab is boring, I like hank and hope he becomes the dea agent from weeds.

It's a testament to the shows brilliance that for all of the conflicts walt has and all ofthe enemies he's made, the early core of the show was about the dea/Hank vs Walt.

I agree that for it to cone full circle Hank and walt have to square off.

Never heard of this show until last week in Vegas. I was playing blackjack at the Venetian with a guy for about an hour that when he left the table everyone came up and started telling him they loved his work, etc. I had to ask who it was and it was Aaron Paul. He was directly on my right for about an hour, $200/hand or so average.

Part of me doesn't want to see Hank and Walt square off. Hank's going to be devastated when he finds out his brother-in-law is the guy he's been chasing for so long.

While watching Gus put on a lab suit, he is either gonna cook or kill somebody. And we know he cant cook. So, there are four other people there, two of which are main characters and Mike is Gus's main guy, it had to be Victor, there was no one else.

Oh.. How silly of me.

My favorite part of this season's premiere was how much of it had no talking in the scene. There were a lot of people doing things independently or secretly and a lot of scenes where tension and drama were built with no dialogue. Great episode.

I think The Wire might have to be moved out of my top spot as "best show ever" after this season of Breaking Bad.

At least I hope so.

I understand that Gus' character is of rational business motives only, but I think he could have justified teaching those guysthey can't completely get away with anything they want to. Cutting off a toe or something would have worked. Right now Walt and Jesse have gotten the better of Gus on multiple occasions. Gus could stand to dish out some discipline.

I don't see what that accomplishes at all. All three of them understand that they are there only because he needs them from a business standpoint and that he'd like to have them dead and that he'll kill them as soon as they are no longer needed, either because they no longer offer value or because someone else can offer similar value. I don't know what scaring them by torturing them accomplishes beyond that. Other than change their calculus about whether it's worthwhile to go to the authorities instead of work for him.
