Breaking Bad on AMC (5 Viewers)

Am i going to be disappointed watching season 5 live and edited having watched all the others in their full glory?
I'm wondering the same thing.
If you participate in some of the online speculation/discussions, that should help offset some of the incredibly painful waiting that will have to be endured.I'm thinking of rewatching the commentary versions of the first four seasons of the series. I only watched a couple of them for some favorite episodes, but they definitely gave some insight into things that were easy to have missed.
Like the big guy who seached Jesse at Saul's place pocketing the ricin cigarette in his pocket. I missed seeing it first time, but it's there when you know what to look for. Same thing about the Lily of the Valley, it was there at the beginning of the episode, foreshadowing the end of the episode.
What episodes are your spoilers?

I watched the first four seasons on torrents that were from AMC, not DVDs, and I don't remember anything being bleeped out. (I know they were from AMC because they occasionally had hurricane warnings or promos for other AMC shows scroll along the bottom).

finally caught up. While Walt was driving away in the last episode I thought it would be a good idea to show him working in the car wash and end the series there. The story's been told, don't weaken Breaking Bad by continuing on for the sake of continuing on. Then they showed the plant in Walt's back yard. Wow the story isn't finished, it's getting deeper and darker.

Poor Walt and Hank being married to those two miserable s. I couldn't have got through 4 seasons without a FF button.

:goodposting: Having multiple silences in the middle of a dramatic scene really takes away from it, in my opinion. That is why I was kind of disappointed with the pilot rerun I DVR'ed and am wondering if I should just buy the DVDs.
I agree the lack of continuous action does detract from the intensity. Watchling live is a definitely no-no, but DVRing and skipping the commercials is pretty much the same as continuous play DVD for me.

I am finally watching this show. Just finished the 9th episode of Season 2. And by looking at this thread, that is about page 4. Is the rest of the thread a mish-mosh of all the seasons and people catching up? I don't think I will read the rest of the thread until I get caught up

Its better that way IMO. You get to think about the show, flesh out questions/possibilities and really let it marinate. It's like a drug. Sure it's great to do it all at once and get high as f but probably better to take a little bit at a time.

I'm referring to the multiple silenced/censored curse words in the show. The pilot had about 15 instances. IS THE SHOW LIKE THIS ALL THE TIME?

I think the pilot episode was shown unedited and uninterrupted the first time. In subsequent showings it was edited. There are occasional edits throughout the series but it isn't that noticable or distracting imo.

the one instance that caused some confusion at the time was:

when Skylar said she F'd Ted. I remember people not being sure what she said because of the silence

That is a mega-spoiler, as I have no idea who Paul is.

One question regarding Gus and Hector.

When he tells Hector he has killed everyone including his grandson how is he so sure that Hector will not go to the DEA? Seems like a big risk for Gus to take or is this just a plot hole?

Good question. I suppose Gus assumes that he won't break the code of silence. One of the handful of times when Gus acts irrationally (most all of his dealings with Hector, for that matter). The shooting of his chemist buddy from years ago by Hector was a deep wound, apparently.

I only recalled about 5 blanked out F words in my version. They left all the S words in.

I think Hector lives by the OG rules: No snitching.

I'm going to wait until the series is definitely done before I buy the entire series on DVD.Hopefully I can hold out for the special box set where all of Flynn's scenes are edited out.

Shuke, I don't remember the censoring being an issue at all, but it's possible they changed things in these re-aired versions. I have no idea since I haven't watched any.

I watched all four seasons about three months ago. I followed along in the thread. It added a lot to it and was really fun. Totally worth it. Great commentary in here.

I'm sure this has been mentioned in this thread, but for those that didn't know, this is from wiki:

Season five

Breaking Bad was renewed for a final 16-episode season, which will be split into two eight-episode parts. The first part will premiere on July 15, 2012, with the second part premiering in summer 2013.

I'm going to be pissed if the Mayans were right and the world ends before I see the last 8 episodes.

Horrible idea. If they don't knock it out of the park this summer.....that combined with the amount of time between seasons and that few episodes will really slow down momentum on the show going into the final eight episodes. Why not just give us two seasons at ten episodes each or run it like Walking Dead....eight in the fall and eight starting in February?

It's a contract issue of some sort. They can't do two more seasons very easily because people are under contract for only one more year, or something like that. I don't know why they can't finish the last eight episodes sooner.

I watched the first 3 seasons several months ago but finally was just able to start and finish on Season 4 last night. So I've never once visited this thread until now so as to avoid knowing anything and so glad I did. Got to say I thought the last few episodes of season 4 were TV at it's finest. Just incredible and love how are they setting up season 5 with Walt's transformation.

I hope it shows ... how they got the cigs from Jessie.
Watch the episode more closely. It's there (see spoiler tag above)....
I think I know what you are saying but also the timeline is incredibly off as well. They had Walt in the desert in the daytime, he runs to saul, calls the cops then is sitting by the pool looking at you know what. Then somehow the kid gets sick in the presumably next couple of hours because Jessie is talking to Saul about "last night".I hope they show the sequence in a backstory because it doesnt add up at all. Maybe just a plot hole but somehow I think this will all come out at some point.

Yeah, I agree that the timeline didn't come across as plausible as it was shown.

Just finished season 3, episode 7, "One Minute", where Tuco's cousins try to kill Hank in the parking lot at the end of the episode.

HOLY ####### ####.

Best episode of the series thus far. Some great acting going on in this show. I tracked down the discussion of this episode way back on page 12 of this thead. Good stuff. Im gonna read all the commentary between episodes from here on out.

I just started this series last week, and have blazed through 3 and a half seasons pretty quickly. I wish I had been watching all along, its way more enjoyable when you have to wait a week between episodes and months in between seasons...but its impossible to not watch a bunch of episodes back to back when theyre available on demand, even though it takes away from the anticipation that you get with having to wait.

So i assume Gus made the warning call. He turned them onto him as an appeasement of sorts but was hoping hank would take them out correct?
