Breaking News Willie Roaf Press Conference (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
KCSP 610 AM in KC is reporting that KC OL Willie Roaf has scheduled a press conference for Thursday in his Lawyers office.

Roaf in the past has said that he may retire or that he may just want to sit out this year to heal up his hamstrings, etc... but the location of this meeting not being at Arrowhead is a bit unusual and an uncontrolled environment compared to the press structure that is already in place at Arrowhead.

Does he feel like he needs to be there after watching Green go down and LJ struggle or is this the end?

(He wouldn't actually hold a press conference to say, "Yeah, I'm staying retired." Would he?)

I wouldn't think 148 total yards is really struggling.

It was indeed a career low for him though.

If Roaf feels the need for anything..it would be a paycheck!

That being said he is retiring.

Already been said here in KC its to set the media and everyone straight on his retirement. Anyone hoping this is a comeback speech is still in denial.

I don't disagree with your analysis and in fact I think that this is the most likely reason for the press conference. However, I haven't heard it said yet or reported that it's been said yet and the timing is odd immediately following a disappointing loss where the OL sucked, Green went down and LJ failed to get 100 yds on the ground. The radio media (Tim Grunhard) seems to think that where there's smoke there's fire and I'm certainly not closer to the action in Dallas so I'm gonna keep my ears open until this plays out. It sure looks like the fat lady is warming up though.

and BTW its not until Thirsday so listening live today may not help the frenzy that will ensue.
I don't mind a little frenzy as entertainment now and again and if I did, why would I be on this board? Talk radio or fantasy football forum are both potentially valid sources of quality information. Nevertheless, I think it will be impossible to eclipse the frenzy that I'm seeing down here in Dallas about T.O.

apparently people are interested in what Willie has to say.

So? You honestly belive that LJ will never post less than 148 total yards in a game?

Ok, now I'm confused.

he seems to think that LJ is struggling because he got 148 total yards on Sunday, because that is his career low as a starter.

LJ's results were subpar for him and nobody else. less than 100 on the ground and zero TD's. However, LJ only had 17 rushing attempts due to 3 KC turnovers, getting behind CIN and injury to Green.

Yes it was the worst out of his 10 starting jobs. But do LJ owners think they are going to get 200 yds out of him every week??

....I can't believe 610 had some actual news on the radio ----- it's usually just blah blah blah KU blah blah blah.

810 is much better for quality info, and you can listen free over the internet....no offense intended to the OP, just my opinion.

You kidding me? Didn't Roaf just get back from vacation? That guy's weight's probably over 5 bills now.

Think Trent Green has some possible endorsement opps lined up.

edit: this isn't roaf's annoucement to enter the world of competetive eating?

A big chunk of his yardage came in garbage time when the game was lost and they were dumping the ball off to him. With Trent Green out he will face nine man fronts.
That's a BS response.Makes him even more valuable. Being down sure didn't help LaMont last night did it. LJ will get his and the people who hate can eat crow later.

Meanwhile, both Herm Edwards and general manager Carl Peterson said they didn't know anything about a news conference retired left tackle Willie Roaf is planning to hold Thursday. Edwards shrugged, joking that perhaps the 11-time Pro Bowler who retired so abruptly was in town for some barbecue.

``Any time that an offensive lineman talks to the media, it's out of character. And for Willie, that's very out of character,'' Peterson said. ``But I'm not sure what his rationale is, what his reasoning is, or if there is going to be a press conference.''

Peterson said Roaf is still listed as reserved-did not report and that his status wouldn't change until the 10th regular-season game.
