Drew Brees, QB NO
News: WIST-AM out of New Orleans reports that Saints QB Drew Brees has a strained MCL in his left knee. Head coach Sean Payton wouldn't elaborate on Brees' injury, saying that his quarterback practiced in full and was sore but did well. He's not listed on the team's Wednesday practice report and he's expected to be fine for Week 4 vs. the Panthers. “There’s no situation. His knee is sore from the game," Payton explained. "There’s no specific injury other than that he has soreness. We didn’t put him on the report. He took all the reps. There’s not an injury to report. I was pleased with how he functioned. He functioned fine. It’s something that as the week goes on, I think he’ll have no problem with and he did a real good job in all the team stuff today.”
Analysis: This report is a little odd, as you can really only strain muscles and tendons, not ligaments. Still, Brees definitely had an MRI on his knee Sunday and is not likely to be 100 percent going into Sunday's home contest against the Panthers. That shouldn't stop you from starting Brees in Fantasy play though, as the chances of him putting solid numbers against the sorry Panthers (six passing TDs allowed) are good as long as he starts. Continue to view him as an elite No. 1 Fantasy QB, but keep a close eye on his status leading into Sunday's contest.
