Brent Celek Owners, are you concerned? (1 Viewer)

Kevin Kolb has not looked good and Celek has not been targeted much in the preseason. Are there any Celek owners out there that are concerned?

I would be worried.. KK has looked just plain which is really going to hurt those that drafted Celek and DJax to high

New QBs are always concerning with TEs, but in most drafts I figure Celek is going at about the right time.

Kolb won't have much success if he doesn't use the middle of the field and Reid and Co. will make sure Celek is part of that.

The biggest detractor to TE success that often catches FF folks off guard is injuries to Tackles

Nope. I have him in 2 leagues, and I'm not concerned.

1. Young QBs look for TEs for checkdowns.

2. Celek went over 100 yards both games KK started last year.

So, like the stagnant Cowboy offense, there is nothing to worry here.

Anyone with an Eagle TE/WR should be a little worried, especially if they expected a step up from last year. Kolb and the OL have not looked good. TE is probably the least impacted, but it is rarely good for a players fantasy stats (year over year) when the offense they play in declines (year over year)

I think Celek will still be solid even if Kolb struggles, which I think he will, as I am not sold on him, but I think people are overrating him because of the games he had with Kolb last year. Okay, he had 8 catches and over 100 yards in both games with Kolb, but one was a blowout vs. the Saints where they were throwing the ball a lot to play catchup (a position the Eagles rarely find themselves in), and the other was against the hapless Chiefs. That kind of production with a green QB won't be easy to pull off against the big boys in the NFC East.

Watching Kolb (and that OL), I see a guy who'll be getting rid of it quickly, and that often calls for someone getting open in the middle of the field. Celek will do that early and often.

Or does Celek need to stay in and block because of that O-Line, and therefore is not in the middle to catch the ball?

Depends on what you expected from Celek.
I suppose I expected him to have a ceiling around that of the upper tight ends, ie: Jason Witten, Vernon Davis, maybe not Finley, Clark or Gates and a floor higher than tight ends such as Zach Miller or Heath Miller.
