I'm leaning towards Farve over Vick this week. Heavy TD scoring system.. We have our double header week so the stakes are high. Vick has been so inconsistent..

I'm with you here. As much as I hate to, I'm going to bench Palmer in favor of Favre. I think NE should be able to put points on the board against GB. Hopefully it turns into a shootout.

Jennings should be getting healthier and it looks like Driver is back.

I'm leaning towards Farve over River this week . It a hard call , because thay both have been playing well

ReTD - Receiving TD 6 points

Plus 1 point for a ReTD of 20 to 39 Yds

Plus 2 points for a ReTD of 40 to 99 Yds

ReYd - Receiving Yards 0+ ReYds = 1 point for every 20 ReYds

Plus a 3 point bonus @ 100+ ReYd

Plus a 3 point bonus @ 200+ ReYd

I'm going to bench Palmer in favor of Favre
I'm a Packers fan and i wouldnt bench Palmer for Favre. Palmer could blow up, just like this last weekend. He's lost Tauscher this week, but might get Morency and Miree back this week. (Which means expect them to run the ball alot.)

Broken record but I wouldn't either. The Siants will likely put up some points against Cinci so there is a possibility that Palmer will need to take it to the air a few times.

Favre will only throw if they can't run the ball or if they get behind. So he's a slight risk of 180 yds and a TD if they can move the ball on the ground.

No doubt Driver will be covered by at least 2 people the entire game leaving room to run.

Thats not to say he isn't still a top 5 QB and per Ron Jawarski one of the top 3 and better yet the only one who can make some very difficult throws.

But its a run first and often offense and the Vikings had one of the best run defenses in the NFL.

So do the Patriots.

Which could mean a shoot out!! :banned: What bites is the Brett has been better in the Dome than at home.

same here... I've been doing it most weeks... but i doubt Rivers has 2 games in a row w/ 3 TDs... though, he could be throwing more than usual vs Denver.

New England should come into GB wanting to prove something and they should be able to move the ball fairly well. Everything points to Brett being down by 7 or more (if we are lucky).

I am benching Romo's hot streak in favor of him this week.

As a lifelong Packer fan and Favre owner I have a bad feeling about this game. A pissed off New England team is going to eat him alive methinks.

I agree with Slum Lord. Losing Tauscher, means starting three rookie offensive linemen. After Tausher left last weeks game, the Packers had to put their tight end in motion to help protect Farve. The move worked against Minnesota, but New England will have an opportunity to study and gameplan for it. Alot will depend upon how well the rookies can handle New England's zone blitzes and how the Packer's coaches gameplan for New England.

Anyone who benched Palmer for Favre this weekend will live to regret it. NO has a horrible secondary (given up 2nd most passing TDs in league). Why would you bench Palmer when he has 3 stud WRs against that secondary and he no doubt knows he has to put up ton of points to win this game since NO will score on that Cincy D. Also game is in dome.....Palmer and his WRs will have a huge day. Do not make that stupid mistake.

I'm sort of stuck. Hasselbeck is my other QB, and he may not start this week. If he does, I'll have a tough choice between Hasselbeck against SF, or Favre.

I'll probably stick with Favre regardless. Untill Hass establishes himself, I think Favre is the better option. I'm thinking around 260 and a TD. The downside is I think at least 2 picks.

Not to nitpick here, but they've been using their tight ends and backs in protection all season long to cover up their rookies. That's not new. However, three rookie O lineman against New England? That gives me a very uneasy feeling.

A huge Packer fan here and Ive seen all their games this year. I have Favre and Rivers to choose from and Im gonna stick with Favre but Im nervous. The Packers offense is clicking but they really dont do anything fancy at all. I think their success is more on Favre and Driver having the mind of one person and that's about it. Billicheck will scheme and if he can stop the run and then shut down Driver.....ughhh. I dont think it'll take a lot to shut down the Packers O even though I wish it wasnt that way. With as many rookies as there are on that team starting it's hard to get really deep into a playbook.

And the Packers D is suprisingly (well, not to me, I thought they would be decent) this year. The only problem is communication gaffs where a wide receiver is wide open 30+ yards down the field. Seeing as they have been doing well against the run and if they dont let anyone wide open (those WR wont be able to do anything else), this game is gonna be low scoring. 10-7....Packers?

This will be interesting, since reports are saying that the OC at Cincy is supposedly going to be taking back some of the play-calling at the line from Palmer. Palmer could be a lot more limited than he would like to be.However, Levi Jones may play as well, and that could only help Palmer.

Palmer had fewer options at his disposal Sunday

By Kevin Goheen

Post staff reporter

The Bengals' biggest offensive output of the season came on a day when they pulled the decision-making reins in on quarterback Carson Palmer.

Head coach Marvin Lewis said Monday that Palmer had less leeway on the play calls offensive coordinator Bob Bratkowski sent in during the Bengals' 49-41 loss against San Diego at Paul Brown Stadium.

"We changed things up a little bit and put things back in Bob's hands a little bit more and took it out of the quarterback's hands," said Lewis. "The things the coaches spend a lot of time game-planning and so forth we're able to get through and attack with a little bit more. Those are things that throughout the football game and throughout the rest of the season we'll be able to adjust and move in and out of a little bit better."

Palmer completed 31 of 42 passes for a career-high 440 yards and three touchdowns, while the Bengals gained 545 yards of total offense. Wide receiver Chad Johnson caught 11 of Palmer's passes for a team-record 260 yards, including touchdowns of 51 and 74 yards.

"It doesn't change Carson's approach because he doesn't know when we're going to do what we're going to do," said Lewis. "It's just a matter of when we give him the freedom to be in charge, he is. So that doesn't change his approach at all. But what I want to do is just make sure that we're doing the things that give us an opportunity (to succeed.)"

ROUGH PANCAKES - The sting of Sunday's loss reverberated into Monday morning. Defensive tackle John Thornton had a tough time going out in public.

"I went out to eat breakfast with my dad (Monday) morning," said Thornton. "The waitress said: "Did you see the Bengals game?" I said: "Yeah, they sucked." She started going off on us, man. Then she found out who I was. She kind of got red-faced.

"I think the city's upset, and we're all upset, too. We've got to get it right."

CLEAR HEADED - San Diego safety Marlon McCree got the highlight-reel hit on Bengals wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh on Sunday but that wasn't the blow that knocked Houshmandzadeh out of the game. A San Diego linebacker, attempting to leap over Houshmandzadeh, accidentally kneed Houshmandzadeh in the head and knocked off his helmet.

Houshmandzadeh had his full faculties after the game and didn't report any ill effects Monday. He expects to play on Sunday at New Orleans.

"It's just football," said Houshmandzadeh. "He was just playing football. It was what any DB would do, really. He was just trying to make a play on the ball. He got there a little too soon."

JONES IMPROVED - Lewis said Monday that left tackle Levi Jones has improved enough that he is considered "questionable" to play at New Orleans. Jones has not played since injuring his right knee Oct. 15 at Tampa Bay. He had arthroscopic surgery three days later and has been rehabbing since.

Safety Kevin Kaesviharn and linebacker Brian Simmons were also given a better chance of playing at New Orleans. Neither has played the last two games - Kaesviharn because of a knee injury and Simmons due to a neck injury - but Lewis said Simmons would likely be listed as "questionable" with Kaesviharn "probable" for Sunday.

Lewis said center Rich Braham and Kelley Washington are closer to returning to the lineup but still won't play this week.

BIG BLUE HYPE - It didn't take much prodding to get running back Chris Perry to talk about his alma mater's big game this Saturday. Perry says his Michigan Wolverines will beat top-ranked Ohio State by two touchdowns in Columbus.

"Thirty-one to 17," said Perry, the Bengals' first-round pick from Michigan in 2004. Perry was part of the only Michigan team to beat Ohio State in Jim Tressel's first five seasons as the Buckeyes' coach, a 35-21 victory in 2003. Perry rushed for 154 yards and two touchdowns as a senior and caught five passes for 55 more yards.

"Ted Ginn will get off but he won't be able to win the game for them," said Perry of the Ohio State wide receiver. "It's a blowout. Ain't no ifs, ands or buts about it. It's a blowout. (Defensive tackle Alan) Branch is going to knock the stuffing out of - what's his name? - Troy Smith. You all set that (Heisman Trophy talk) up anyway. That's some B.S. to begin with. He shouldn't even win the Heisman. He's not going to win his league or the national championship. We all know what's going to happen. We're going to win it. It's been long overdue. So, hey, we're going to keep it real. There ain't nothing else to say."

The Bengals do not have any alumni of Ohio State on their roster.

They've been doing that all year, Tausch or no.

Comeon man. He wants to throw every down and go downtown. He gets bored with the run and dump off passes so he'll mix in some longer throws.

I think Favre will have an average (not horrible, just average) game. So maybe 225 yards/1 TD.

The truth is, the Patriots are looking shaky but they still got Brady and Bellichick. If the Packers D can rattle Brady like the Jets D managed to do, then I think the Pack has a shot.

this game (particular favre) has a high risk/reward

the pats could come in pissed and completely shut down favre or he could go wild. I don't see a "solid" game either way. It will either be very good or very poor.

Look at who you are playing, if you feel you have a better team, you might want to go with a more "solid" option. I do and I'm playing Kitna over Favre.

Any word on Jennings health? If Driver gets extra coverage after last week Jennings condition could be a key to Farve's stats.

I'm going with Favre over Vick as well!
Thats an easy call.

Nothing in the news, which i think means good news. He played half the downs last week on turf, and since they are home this week, Jennings will probably play most of the snaps.

i just came here to get some info on what others think the SD @ DEN game is gonna be like... i kept Favre in on Tuesday... but i think by Sunday i'll be rolling w/ Rivers... Denver has had lots of success shutting down LT2 (who my opponent has), so Rivers might get some extra chances to air it out.

Have you even watched the Packers this year? The Pack (and Favre) is more than willing to run when it's there. Favre (nor McCarthy) DOES NOT want to throw every down. Measure and controlled. You're living in the past with this throw every down and go downtown crap.

My options are Favre, A Smith, and Plummer... I have to take the risk and start Favre.

Like people are saying, I view this as high risk, high reward. If he goes off it will be for big points. But at this point in the season I have to take the chance.

upgraded to probable..Farve should have all of his weapons, but with Morency coming back it will definitely be a run first offense....

"Should" do well...i have been burned too many times by Favre this season...he can be the best and he can be the worst. I still have Driver so I hope he does well....

Burned?! Too many?! Did you only play him when he played Chicago and at Philly, both games that everyone knew he would most likely struggle in? Or did you play him against Stl and at Buffalo, where he should have had a good game (not great) but still had a respectable game.

Quicker reads. Quicker throws. More protection. More production. Ya' think they would have figured this out a couple years ago. I wonder what changed in the off-season to bring this about????
Everyone figured this out several years ago, except coach Sherman.

Is this one of those somewhat cleverly disguised WDIS threads? ;)

If Jennings is closer to 100% Favre should do well enough I would think, if one needed to make such a hypothetical decision for some reason, such as their football lineup.

:goodposting: While the man created an amazing rushing attack, he and Rossley were just silly with t he routes and protections in thier passing game. Thank God we've seen the end of 5 wides, empty backfield on 3rd and 2.
