In the interview...he said if he came back he would be committed...he used alot of ifs and maybes and so on. And the fact that he has yet to file for reinstatement and now there are rumors that he will stay retired are confirming my belief that he was not totally committed to playing.If he wanted to play so bad...why not apply for reinstatement and force Thompson's hand?

Somebody help me understand this because I am thoroughly confused. Favre hasn't filed his retirement papers so he isn't retired, but he hasn't filed his reinstatement papers so he isn't a player either. So what is he?I guess I don't understand it. Not that it is a big deal to me or anything, but it has always bothered me that this was the case - seemed kind of weird.

He is retired as far as the Packers and the NFL are concerned when they put him on the reserved/retired list.Filing retirement papers is pretty much irrelevant except maybe to like pensions and such.
