Brett Favre: WEEK 14 OUTLOOK? (1 Viewer)

Rotowire: "Just to quote the medical staff, his (starting) streak is not in danger. He'll be OK," coach Mike McCarthy said Friday, the day after Favre was knocked out of the Packers' 37-27 loss at Dallas with elbow and shoulder injuries. His streak, which dates to 1992, stands at 249 games (269 including playoffs) and is a league record for quarterbacks.

Favre is having a great season and many of us has benefited from drafting him in the later rounds. But seeing this is about FF and not starting streaks or records, I'm interested in how Favre does this weekend against a tough Oakland secondary. Because OAK has a soft run D, I see Grant pounding away and giving Favre as much of rest as possible. Favre has some great weapons to throw to which makes him tough to bench, but realistically, how is this game going to go? What's the extent of his injuries, especially since there's talk of surgery in the offseason? Will he be pulled if the game gets out of hand? This is a crucial week for many of us starting our playoffs; so who are you starting over Favre this week?

I thought it was his ankle he was getting surgery on. I'm also flipflopping between Favre and Garrard.

yes, that is true...ANKLE surgery and not shoulder/elbow/arm surgery

Dec 4 Favre (shoulder, arm, ankle) will most likely have offseason surgery on bone spurs in his right ankle, NFL.com reports.

Recommendation: Despite these myriad injuries Favre will be on the field this Sunday to continue Green Bay's march to the playoffs. His ankle has been bothering him more and more as the season has worn on, and the surgery looks inevitable but it will wait until after the season.

Same decision here. Oakland's secondary is tough and let's be honest, he looked like 2006 vintage against the Boys. Did he practice today?

Unfortunately I think he is going to hand off to Grant more than usual. On the other hand, they should get back to the short passing game and allow the WR's to get the YAC. Oakland hasn't faced 4-5 wide so who knows if they have the personnel to stop that.

I need 3-4 TD's and 1 to Jennings at least.

I think they did much of the time against the Lions: 36 -21 Lions. I don't know if that game is applicable at this point in the season. :goodposting:

This may have a lot to do with Oakland's weakness against the run vs the pass in addition to Favre's injuries.
