Anything to add, or just chiming in to be a smartass?Well we heard it first , but we did nt see it.The guy is a third down back .Calhoun will clock a 4.3 at the combine. You heard it hear first.![]()

I didn't say make him equal to Reggie Bush, I just was stating people get caught up a bit too much in 40 times on a track. Let's say hypothetically Reggie Bush runs a 4.57 40. Would we all erase all those things he did on the field for 3 years and say now that he is slow? I wouldn't. So with Calhoun, it's obvious from just watching him beat defenses to the edge and just watching him play, he plays faster then his 4.6 whatever 40 time suggests he is. Some track coach can teach you how to run a 40 and shave off a .10 here and there, doesn't change your colors. You either play fast or you don't.Right, so let's make him a top-5 pick, since he says he's as good as Reggie Bush. When have draft prospects ever inflated their resumes?agree 100%. If Calhouns plays fast, I could care less what he does in a controlled 40 yard dash on some track.I have no problems with people who want to downgrade someone for being a few tenths slower than expected. I'm just not one that puts much faith in the 40 time. I don't believe the way it is measured and performed translates accurately to game speed, whitch is what I judge prospects by.I'm having a hard time with that. Speed was supposed to be the thing that separated Calhoun from many others. It was the reason why I thought he deserved to be RB5 in the draft. He doesn't bring more to the game than Maurice Drew or Jerome Harrison if he isn't faster. I don't think he is as quick as either. He has nice moves, but I like the way the other two make defenders miss quite a bit more, and they both run with better power. All of this is debateable of course, and his second time was 4.51 (reportedly). That's almost identical to Harrison, though Drew smoked them both today. Still, if Jerome Harrison and Brian Calhoun are the same speed, I like Harrison better. This may explain Calhoun's lousy YPC too. Big red flag for me because of the type of player he is, not because I weigh 40 times excessively. If a group of players are hard to distinguish, sure NFL personnelers have often taken the faster player and been wrong. But when a player's seeming advantage is better speed, and it turns out to be false... I have to downgrade that guy.I'm not trying to sound like a Calhoun apologist, and I have never claimed at anytime that Calhoun is near Bush in talent. He did run slower than what I expected based on what I saw on film and in live football action. I'm just not going to let today affect my opinion of him as a football player, the same as I'd do for others who run slower than expected.
Maybe it's taking a long time to wrap up because Calhoun isn't done running his 40.Calhoun's pro day should be wrapping up here in a few minutes. I'm waiting for the #s. Hope that achilles had enough time for him to run 100%. I have no doubt he is much faster than 4.6, but it would be nice to confirm it.
Problem is, given his size and the relative lack of success by Wisconsin backs in the NFL of late, he needed a blistering 40 to get a shot early in the draft.40 schmorty...watch what the kid did on the field.
Don't think he is quick or fast...explain that to the Auburn defenders who he consistently beat to the outside in that bowl game. Tell that to Tommy Tuberville who had to finally admit that a big 10 team put some speed on the field.
He showed his burst throughout the year with Wisconsin.
He has run track in the Big 10. The kid's speed is well documented in spite of his poor combine showing. He is not Michael Bennett fast, but he is fast.As you say the negatives on him are, or will not be, his speed, but rather the relative lack of success of the past few Wisconsin backs.Problem is, given his size and the relative lack of success by Wisconsin backs in the NFL of late, he needed a blistering 40 to get a shot early in the draft.40 schmorty...watch what the kid did on the field.

Nice! Fastest back in the draft so far. Maroney and Bush will run on the 23rd and 2nd...eta: Wisconsin has a notoriously fast track and scouts will account for that in relation to the guys who ran 4.39 and 4.40, but that odd combine is rightfully reversed.Calhoun ran a 4.38 in his pro day 40 today.

OK, only a few weeks late.Calhoun ran a 4.38 in his pro day 40 today.

These guys seem very similar to me. Calhoun isn't quite as explosive, but it's close.

"The only difference between me and him (is), he was an inch taller than me, he was a pound heavier than me. So it'd be good to match up with him."When's this clown going to come back to reality? He plays the slow white kids in the big ten, dropping a couple long runs against them, and now thinks he's on Bushs' level?

Possibly...though he was the first real "complete" back to come out of Wisconsin. Great burst, showed power when needed, avoided injury, and caught the ball well. Barry does not give that praise often and he called him the best/most complete back he ever had.Oh...and the 4.38 he apparently ran today...pretty blistering...Problem is, given his size and the relative lack of success by Wisconsin backs in the NFL of late, he needed a blistering 40 to get a shot early in the draft.40 schmorty...watch what the kid did on the field.

Tell that to Auburn and Tommy Tuberville.....Maybe actually watch football from time to time before making comments like this. These guys seem very similar to me. Calhoun isn't quite as explosive, but it's close.

As I said in the other Calhoun thread today...his Pro Day 40-time put him back on solid footing as RB6 or RB7, most likely. That could easily be late 2nd, early 3rd round this year...but it's not out of the question Calhoun could be gone by the mid 2nd; it will only take one GM to view him as RB6 [behind Bush, Williams, White, Maroney and Addai] for that to happen.Possibly...though he was the first real "complete" back to come out of Wisconsin.
