Brian Cushing (1 Viewer)

NFL suspended Texans SLB Brian Cushing four games for violating the league's steroids policy.

Schefter's Twitter.

Cushing appealed the suspension in February and discovered today he had lost his appeal. First game he will miss is against the Colts.

All kinds of rumors about this last year when he went back to NJ to work out with his HS trainer for the draft.

So much for that "blue collar" work ethic.

Interesting discussions on twitter about what Cushing might go through production-wise upon his return to the league post-suspension. Merriman's name has come up since he's never been the same since his suspension. OUr own Mr. Bloom had this to say:

those two things (merriman not same & not staying healthy) could both be related to the absence of steroids from his diet
also on the table - should Cushing lose his DROY? If he tested positive during the season, I say for sure. If the test was positive after he was done playing - well it's hard to argue he was only using off season, huh?

Big news here. I imagine DeMeco Ryans and Bernard Pollard get upticks on the IDP fallout. Someone is going to have to make tackles.

Wasn't there talk of him doing roids in College?
Yes, lots and lots of warnings about him in college and roids.
Yup :coffee:
That before picture is actually supposed to be an 'after' picture. Here's a link about him and steroids from 2006.Found this post about him and that before pic in 2006:

i'm not a CFB fan so i'm not here to flame. i am, however, a power lifter. i don't know who this young kid is and but one picture or not, it speaks 1000 words. this isn't a guy that is simply out of shape. he looks like a guy who didn't handle his cycling properly. you see this all the time, especially with high schoolers that try to get jacked quickly. the evidence shows in his chest and hips but is really obvious in his face. there's no way he took the necessary anti-estrogens like clomid, nolvadex, and arimidex looking the way he is.

They should take away his ROY award. It is reasonable to assume that he was juiced last season. 4 games is too lenient. They should expand this rule to a full season.

Definitely an after pic. I see old lady boobies...

:hey: at Jay Glazer's faux outrage at Cushing. Like he had no idea that Cushing was juicing. If he didn't, then that tells me all I need to know about Glazer's journalistic abilities.

Donte Whitner agrees: "Not a crazy notion. RT @DonteWhitner: They should take his Defensive rookie of the year away!" tweet.

Response from Gregg Rosenthal twitter: "Maybe. But appeal held in February. Reasonable to assume test from '09. Would it depend on date of test?"

If Cushing knew about this test before Feb, and ROY award was handed out after the season, you wonder if the NFL knew prior to giving him the award?

If it can be proved he tested positive during the 09 season, I think that they have to take it away and give it to the runner up.

From the thread from last year after the initial reports of Cushing and Matthews testing positive.....

People around Jersey have been talking about Cushing being on steroids for years. I'd be pretty surprised if he was totally clean.Personally, i dont think the weed thing should be a big deal. However, it does signal stupidity if the player does it before the combine. very dumb/immature thing.
honestly, i think its sad that it took this long for the NFL to nab this kid. Complete cheater. Always has been.

the NFL doesn't give anybody those awards.on a related note --- who cares?I mean, besides donte whitner.

The NFL doesn't give out post-season awards. It's different news sources -- the AP, the Sporting News, ESPN, CBS, etc. -- that give them out. When it comes to the defensive rookie of the year award, the AP obviously reigns king. But it doesn't carry any special weight and it's not anything more than a popularity contest.

You can take away his DROYSelection just don't take away his ROYDSelection. He looks like he could pop. That's too bad. He was a great story this past season... wonder if Goodell is going to swing the big stick again. Make an example.

No wonder he was so good. So, now that we know he was cheating, who was the real NFL DROTY?
Clay Matthews
Riiiiiight, lets give it to the other USC guy who went from 6-1' 165lb. HS Junior whos own father would not start to a 6-3' 245lb. walk on freak. I'm sure he's nothing like his old team mate and had nothing to help him.

then half the league would be suspended

Good... It's BS baseball has taken the heat it has and the NFL has gone without reprocution. Yes, they test and have been testing but I question the aggressiveness of their measures to stop PED's.Edit to add: I'm glad this guy got caught earlier than Merriman, it's been quite obvious since college he is a cheater and it is crap that he was able to operate as a cheater for a full season.

+1. An 80 pound muscle gain during his USC career. That must be a hell of a weight program lol.

It was always funny listening to USC fans defend Cushing and say he wasn't on roids. Not sure if they really believed that or if they just couldn't admit it publicly.

Concerned dynasty owner here about his production once he gets back. Lets hope he sticks to a workout program that allows him to close to as successful as he was withouth the use of drugs.

Why not just cut bait? Dude hasn't been able to prove he's a legit talent since HS without the use of drugs.

Just good old fashioned hard work. :banned:

why is it nobody wants to acknowledge the elephant in the room?

he's allowed to keep all his awards while mike vick was demonized and jailed.

and as usual who's being cheated out of their rightful award....?

obama may be president, but some things never change.

:nerd:

He's claiming that he flunked a random test during the season and that it was for a non-steroidal agent.

We'll see. The one thing for me to come out of this, is that because Jay Glazer is now training all of these players in his MMA-style training, I can't trust his reporting or judgement anymore. When you go from being objective to having a vested interest in the guys you're supposed to be covering, the fans don't know when you're just being cautious or when you're covering something up for someone.

You are right...some things don't change. One got busted violating the league's drug policy. The other got busted by the Feds for a crime and served the appropriate punishment.

Well...he supposedly walked on weighing 225...and yes, in that time he also seemed to have grown 2 inches in height.Ever think the guy did develop a bit later than others? While its possible he juiced...there have been absolutely no actual indications of it other than his growth over a 6 year time period. He was not 245 when he walked on...that was his final weight 6 years after the first weight you are giving. At least be truthful and tell the whole story.

From Sophmore to Junior year of H.S. I added a foot of height and 80 lbs.

I believe for me the pictures, particularly the one showing his boobs, are convincing proof of his steroid use.

I have this guy in a few dynasty leagues. I have already paid a price for this type of behavior owning Merriman. Looks like I may be paying again.

If these guys are going to go for it like this I wish they would push all in. Forget the roids, Forget the HGH. Go for the good stuff, the SGH (Symian Growth Hormone). That Gorilla juice will REALLY get them pumped up. Sure they may grow silver hair on their backs and start to develop a sagital crest, but Lawdy the results they will get.

It's one thing to grow this much when you are 15/16 years old, but growing that much after you are 19/20 is a different story. I agree with the above, the picture tells a thousand words....his body is shriveled up, and 5o% of the mass he gained is gone

I guess Clay got some masking agent tips from the Williams wall.

Which steroid do you think made him grow 2 inches in height? And where can I get some?
