Brian Westbrook "day to day" with ankle strain (1 Viewer)

Right ankle is what it looks like.

He was a bit off balance hopping over one of his team mates then the right got twisted pretty good when he went to plant it.

preface: I'm playing against Westbrook

BUT as much as I hope he'll stay out, I would NOT be suprised if they shot him with a painkiller, added another roll of tape to the ankle, and brought him back out after the half. They will do X-Rays and all that fun stuff first, but they have that stuff on site, it won't take too long. If he IS out though...

I was at the game, but didn't have the benefit of hearing any television tidbits. It definitely looked like at least a sprained ankle and could've been a twisted knee. My prediction is he's day-to-day for the rest of the season.

No link but Mort said on ESPN its an ankle "strain" and seemed to imply it was not as bad as a "sprain."(whatever that means) X-rays were negative and he is having a precautionary MRI on Monday..

Was great news for me to see him go down. Beat the division leader to tie him for the top spot. Big Ben also did not help him this week.

Eagles | Westbrook to undergo MRI Monday

Sun, 21 Sep 2008 18:07:54 -0700

The Associated Press reports X-rays on Philadelphia Eagles RB Brian Westbrook's (ankle) ankle did not show any break, but he will undergo an MRI Monday, Sept. 22.

from KFFL...

Hauser's team, though it's early in the season, seems to be doing fine.

Brian Westbrook (ankle) was on crutches in the locker room after Sunday's win over the Steelers.Players are often given crutches as a precaution, so don't read too far into this. The Eagles are currently saying that Westbrook, who's scheduled for an MRI on Monday, has an ankle "strain" after X-rays revealed no break.

PHILADELPHIA (AP)—Eagles running back Brian Westbrook strained his ankle in Philadelphia’s 15-6 win over Pittsburgh on Sunday and will have an MRI on Monday.

Eagles coach Andy Reid said X-rays on the ankle were negative but the team would do more tests.

Westbrook did not speak with reporters but was on crutches in the locker room after the game.

Westbrook appeared to get hurt while hurdling a teammate on a 2-yard run early in the second period. He limped off the field and was attended to on the sideline before walking to the locker room. He did not return.

Incidentally...was poking around for the difference between sprain and strain:

A sprain is an injury to a ligament, and a strain is an injury to a muscle or tendon. Strains can occur without a sprain; however, when you have a sprain, you will almost always have a strain.

a strain stretches, twists, or otherwise overstresses nerve fibers, tendons, and muscles without doing serious damage; a sprain is more serious, a rupture or tear of a ligament that may take some time to repair itself, often with swelling and temporary loss of use. Each can be painful, but a sprain is likely to be worse.

Its good that there was no break - that was my #1 fear when I saw it happen because his foot almost went to a 90% angle for a brief second. Hopefully there's no tear and its just a bad strain.

I could have saved you 15 minutes...I don't think it'll be anything serious, but I'm just a PT, not HIS PT. Not much in the ankle that could keep him out for a long time unless it were a break or if he tore a ligament (3rd degree sprain). Chances are if it's a 2nd degree sprain he may not suit up for a week or 2. But, in the NFL there's a magical thing called cortisone injections that work wonders on athletes to keep them playing. Much like Lubchenko coming back to hit the game winning FG for Springfield University after his leg was hanging on just by his skin

I can't help but think he'll be fine. He wasn't limping all that badly when he left the field. At the time, I thought he'd get a new tape job and come back. I was honestly surprised when he didn't.

After he left the field there was a camera shot of him walking through the tunnel and he was limping badly.Edited to add: Hopefully he can shake it off and return next week, but the most important news will be the MRI. You never know what that will show.

You could have sex. Five times.

Time for some constructive rhetoric.

Bettin' it's an ankle sprain.

Thinking they've got three weeks until a bye.... gives him a whole month to recover, and then some. Have him back after the BYE week with the 5-2 Iggles.

Looked like a season ending injury to me. :goodposting:
Not a chance. There is no way in hell that they would have let him walk off of the field on his own... and back to the locker room on hiis own, with a season ending ankle injury. I have had bad sprains that healed in 2 weeks, that simply could not be walked on directly afterwards. I am not talking about just pain either... I am talking that it isn't stable enough to walk on. This could be no worse than a strain, or a minor sprain.

A few years back McNabb finished a game (with 4 TD's) on a (regular) season ending broken ankle.Just sayin...

And I think it was stated earlier. Brady walked off this year.

While I was watching the NFL channel, it showed Westy walking in the tunnel to the locker room, he was limping badly. As a Westy owner I'm worried, all I could think was.................this does look too good.

Anyone have an update on hauser's team?
I need to know too. Big match up this week?Who cares about this Westbrook guy? hauser has more than just one player ya know? And Westbrook isn't even on his team!!Lets get our priorities straight.TIA

In addition to him limping badly as he was walking through the tunnel, I thought at one point I saw him slam his helmet down in frustration which is generally a sign that a player is in pain or knows the injury is a bad one. I'd be very surprised to see him ready to play this week, but as a Westy owner that just dropped Buckhalter Sunday morning to pickup Sammy Morris, I hope I am wrong.

this happened last year and was the reason I traded him. Had been kicking myself since then. But now I'm worried about him on my other 2 teams.

And still have ten minutes left to make a sandwich and do some research on hauser's matchup for week 4.
