Broncos attempted to get #5 pick from Packers (1 Viewer)

Just heard on the radio (no link) that the Packers turned down an offer from the Broncos offering the #15 & #22 picks for the #5 (this was before they traded #22 away to the 49ers)

Was this their original attempt for Vernon Davis?

Interesting. Of course, without a link it must not be true
I guess it's just coming out now in both Wisconsin and Colorado sources that the Broncos had discussions with both the Packers and the Titans about moving up ahead of the 49ers to get Vernon Davis. No dice from either and they then moved to plan B and did the deal with the 49ers and moved the #22.

One scenario:

plan A: trade up for Davis.

plan B: trade down because one of Lewis or Pope (Klop? Byrd?) should be there at 37.

This is an interesting year - Texans, Titans or Jets said no to the Broncos on a trade for #15 and #22. They must all be pretty well set with who they want or think that there will be more offered as time goes on.

Lee Rasizer, of the Rocky Mountain News, reports an unnamed team was the third team to turn down the Denver Broncos' offer of two first-round draft picks for their first-round pick in the NFL Draft. The team was draft somewhere in the top five of the draft, other than No. 3 or No. 5.

WBAY, citing the Rocky Mountain News, reports the Green Bay Packers turned down the Denver Broncos' offer of two first-round draft picks for the Packers' selection at No. 5 in the NFL Draft.

Yep, AM 1250 out of Waukesha, Wisconsin

If you apply the chart, the top 4 picks are worth more then the 15 and 22. o it makes sense that the other teams would not trade just yet.

But GB needs more then one player, and they would have been on the upside of that trade. IMHO they should have pulled the trigger.

Thompson probably figured Denver would add some later picks the closer it got to draft day (or on draft day).

Green Bay could definitely use a few more picks. Trading #5 for #15, #22 and maybe a later pick wouldn't be so bad IMO. I'd be happy with Greenway and a top tier DB along with whomever.

:goodposting: personally i like plan B.....and on top of that i wouldn't mind seeing Denver move out of the 15th spot to the mid 20's and add another 1st day selection.

I'll be happy if they don't draft a punter again in the 3rd round or any round. ;)

Whether he's a punter or not is debatable.

:lmao: :goodposting: both of you.

This is interesting in that the Broncos were also interested in getting number 6 from SF. This tells me either the 49ers also rejected the Broncos, or another conditional trade (dependant upon how the top 5 go) may already be agreed upon between the 49ers and Broncos come draft day.
