Technically, Jay Cutler was a one-hour holdout. At roughly 5:30 p.m. today, one hour after the first team training camp meeting began, the quarterback and the Broncos agreed on a six-year deal worth $48 million.
After a four-year career at Vanderbilt, Cutler became the Broncos' first-round draft pick, 11th overall in April.
Expected to play behind Jake Plummer in this, his rookie season, Cutler's contract includes roughly $11 million in guarantees. Upon reaching the agreement, Cutler hurried over to the Broncos training complex in Dove Valley in
hopes of catching the end of the team meeting.
"The sky's the limit for this kid," said Bus Cook, Cutler's agent. "I'm just glad we got him in on time." The Broncos first training camp workout is Friday morning.
