local sports news in pittsburgh just a few minutes ago, take it for what it's worth. bruce arians said the steelers are considering playing FWP more on 3rd downs, putting him in motion more, and generally letting him play in space more. he mentioned that the short little flair pass that goes for 50 is willie's speciality, but that they might be more creative to get him the ball in other ways. i think he used the phrase "lining him up as a WR" but i'm not certain. he also mentioned that just because more tight ends may be on the field, that doesn't mean they'll be seeing more passes. he said their primary function is blocking.

no link but if you want to search the KDKA website, you might find one. it aired during the 6PM news.

FWP had 31 receptions last year for 222 yards. That's a low ypc average compared to the other top rb's. Was it simply the way the plays were designed or is he nothing special when it comes to catching the ball and running with it?

I'd say the Steelers really only used FWP as a reciever in uber-vanilla schemes last year. I think the low YPC can at least be party attributed to the fact that because probably 25 of those 31 catches came in a a designed screen or a panicked dump off -- defenses were able to sniff them out.Parker is shifty and fast -- one of the better open field runners in the NFL today. If Ariens isn't just blowing smoke (it's tough to get excited about anything you hear in May), and they do plan on getting him the ball in open space, this is very good news for Parker owners.
