Bryant Johnson - Sneaky Play Wk 6? (1 Viewer)

I like it except Carolina is not a terrible pass defense. Bryant Johnson will be a FA at the end of the season and likely starting somewhere next season. He is a top5 #3WR...I have him in the same category as a Patrick Crayton...just feel he needs a chance...so yes he's a nice play this week if Boldin is out. BJ was hurt the 1st week that Boldin missed. ANd Boldin may be out for a few more weeks, his language this week was someone that didn't want to rush things...plus AZ is 3-2 and probably playing for the division if they can keep up with Seattle, which they can.

I though Carolina's Pass D was good but Marc Wimer says other wise in the weekly passing match up reports:

Carolina kept the pressure on Drew Brees last week, allowing 29/47 for 252 yards, but denying him a score and intercepting him twice. They are the 24th ranked pass D in the NFL this year, averaging 233.6 net passing yards allowed per game, with 5 TDs given away so far and 2 interceptions to their credit. At least they have started to get after the football in the secondary. One thing that the Panthers are very weak at is delivering a pass rush - they are 31st in the NFL with only 2 sacks to their credit through 5 games, and didn't manage to get to Brees last week.

I dunno. I was just going to start Andre Davis but the JAX passing defense is really tough to move the ball on. I might just roll the dice on the B. Johnson upside.

I watched the Panther/Saints game last week. I don't even think the Panthers had a sack. Brees was getting rid of the ball way to early, throwing ints, or the receivers were dropping passes. I would not fear the Panther defense. I don't know if Peppers is hurt, but he is not the same guy.

There is no doubt that Warner is a beast if he gets a chance to make his reads. The problem he has had was that a strong pass rush caused fumbles and int's. He looks like a good bet against the Panthers, and Johnson should benefit, with Boldin out.

All you need to know is the following for this game :

Carolina only has gotten 2 sacks thru 5 games this year.

Arizona has only given UP 5 sacks in 5 games this year.

Warner is at his best when he has time to sling the ball downfield.

Arizona's OL has been very good, while Carolina's DL hasn't given a decent rush.

Carolina, too, will have questions at QB....with alot of 3 and outs, thus giving Warner more opps on offense.

I think Warner, Fitz, and Boldin/Johnson are excellent starts this week. All could be in the top 5 for scoring for their respective positions this week.

My sneaky play. Ben Obomanu Sea WR
:coffee:If for no other reason than the fact that his new nickname needs to be "Been Abominable".
Nice matchup for the Seahawks passing game. Branch is injured and will not play. Seahawks have announced that Engram will start at flanker and move to the slot in 3WR sets, with Obomanu then moving to flanker. Engram is a little long in the tooth and won't (can't) play the whole game. The Seahawks will use a 3 WR set much of the game and Obomanu will see plenty of snaps in the 2WR set. Obomanu is bigger, stronger, and faster than either Burleson and Engram. The Saints will most likely put their top coverage on Engram and Burleson leaving the nickel CB on Obomanu. Just as an earlier poster said about Bryant Johnson, Obomanu just needs an opportunity. After Branch went down last week Obomanu received more targets than either Engram or Burleson. (The Saints D isn't exactly in the same league as Pittsburgh. Ok, they are in the same league, but you know what I mean) I'm starting him in a couple leagues this week over James Jones and Burleson.

So I can go Northcutt or B. Johnson but nothing is convincing me either way.

Why is FBG projecting him for 3 rec and 46 yards? On 8-9 targets you have to figure 6-75.

Engram is a little long in the tooth and won't (can't) play the whole game.
Why won't Engram be able to play the whole game?
Not many 34 year old wideouts not named Jerry Rice can play the entire game without a blow and remain effective. I think Engram is an excellent play this weak, but it is not a "sneaky" play. Obomanu should be available in most leagues and I think will have a nice game.

Obomanu would be a good play in return yardage leagues cause i think he would get some KRs as well.

One thing to note about the Seahawks pass protection is that Mack Strong retired this week and they will go with Leanard Weaver at FB.

I either starting Burleson or Bryant Johnson this week. Any thoughts on which one? I currently have Johnson on my roster but Burleson is on the WW.
