Agreed. I'm not getting the Reid hate at all. Bucs completely took away the running game and dared the rookie QB to beat them, which he did.It is more of a question of do you trust Marvin Lewis to run a balanced D or try the same thing that backfired on Schiano.

Yes, and he's pretty predictable. When someone like McCoy gets hurt, he goes back-to-basics vanilla offense for the first couple of weeks. Once he figures the new guy is up to speed, well, he can't make his mark as a genius with a simple gameplan, so he has to go 90% pass, 10% run, stunts, tricks, etc. And then the wheels come off.
I'm riding him one more week, though a lot of that is due to my other flex options being unappealing (Antonio Brown, Amendola). But if I make it to the championship, there's a good chance he sits, based on a) him having another bad outing this week, b) McCoy coming back, c) a bad matchup vs the Redskins and d) a (hopefully) healthy Amendola with a great matchup vs TB.

Ugh! I hate these Thursday night games. I have to decide between Brown and Reggie Bush. I think Brown will have a better game than last week, but Reggie has Jacksonville. Still leaning towards Brown, but after last week, I'm really concerned about another low single digit scoring game.
Time to go to think tank and figure this one out.

im thinking the eagles saw that tampa has the best Run D in the league and decided to avoid its strength by passing all game...it was a failed game plan and im sure they wont do that vs the Bengals...Brown didnt suddenly start sucking,that boy can flat out run.

I don't follow the Eagles that closely but, Brown had 12 carries for 6 yards, and the passing game was actually working. I know its fun to hate on Reid but TB was selling out to stop Brown, I really dont think giving him 5-8 more carries would have resulted in a significantly better fantasy outing for Brown. They didn't truly abandon the run until later in the game when the ground game just wasn't working. His Longest run was 11 yards, which means the rest of his stat line was 11 carries for -5 yards. I don't think you can fault any coach who goes pass heavy in those circumstances.
Disclaimer I am forced to start him in the flex due to Jordy/Dez uncertainties, so I may just be overly hopeful.

I watched the game and remembered differently, so I went back and checked the play-by-play. Philly's 1st 3 plays were pass attempts, & 11 of their 1st 16 plays were passes. The score was 0-0 for everyone of these plays & Reid (like many coaches) scripts his first 15 plays. I think it's fair to say that Reid came into this game planning to throw the ball A LOT.
Furthermore, Philly had the lead for much of the 2nd quarter. They had two drives with the lead (first 3-0, then 10-0), but they ran the ball ONE TIME during those two drives.
Philly ran the ball THREE TIMES in the 2nd half.
Suggesting/believing that they didn't abandon the run until late in the game is incorrect; Reid decided to pass, instead of run, because he thinks he's a genius. Because they won, you should expect (IMO) more of the same on TNF.

What types of defenses do Tampa, Dallas and Carolina run? Any chance that can explain the difference between the great and poor weeks? And what does Cinci run?

Agreed. I now have DMC over Brown. I will switch back and forth 87 times before kickoff and whatever I end up with will be wrong.

Right now I'm going with Ridley, Moreno and McFadden over Brown, Sproles and Dwyer in a PPR.McFadden went off vs. KC in Week 8 and Denver should be able to control the clock vs. Baltimore. Not crazy about the Ridley matchup vs. SF, but I have a feeling Cincinnati will be able to shut Brown down.I may change my mind between now and tomorrow. I just think Brown's the most likely of those four to lay an egg.
True. I saw him having a terrible game going into last week. TB has stuffed everyone on the ground. And Philly's O-line hasnt been spectacular. I figured even if Brown played well that he would not put up huge numbers last week. Not against that Defense.

This is the best Run Defense in the NFL. You cant exactly blame Reid for coming out of the gate throwing the ball.You can fault him for a lot of other things(and I wouldnt blame you if you do), but I'd defend him on this point.

Weeks 12-13 hero Bryce Brown will likely be benched in many fantasy leagues against the Bengals, following last week's clunker in Tampa. It's important to note that no one runs on the Buccaneers, however. The Bucs allow 78.2 rushing yards per game, fewest in the league by more than a dozen. Whereas Tampa Bay's top-ranked run defense tilts its nose tackle in a cocked stance to tie up multiple blockers, freeing the linebackers to blow up run plays, Cincinnati's 11th-ranked group utilizes a more aggressive, up-field style geared toward rushing the passer and causing backfield penetration. The penetration would be greater cause for concern if Brown lacked speed to beat linebackers to the perimeter. But Brown has speed in spades, and Foles' improvement should only help the efficiency of the run game going forward. Start Brown on Thursday night as a high-upside, if moderately high-risk RB2.

Woke up this morning after thinking long and hard about whether or not I want to chance my fantasy season to Bryce Brown. So many bullish opinions on this thread have me wanting to feel excited about starting him. I guess it comes down to what your options are. I'm going to go back to the guys that got me here.
I don't think Bryce Brown is nearly as bad a start as he was last week, but I also don't think he's the two week wonder before that. Still should be a solid start tonight. But I'm going to bench him. Cincy is coming off a close disappointing loss and have something to play for. Philly is trotting out Maclin with a sore groin and they could just as easily dare Foles to beat them up top and stack the box. I don't believe Foles can make Cincy pay for stacking the box and I think the Bengals probably feel the same.

Feel like it would be foolish to give up on this guy after one bad game, very few RBs have had the kind of game he's had in his first 2 starts. I'm willing to give him in the benefit of the doubt for last week, and am rolling him out this week as my RB2.
Now, if he disappoints again, then sure, we'll have something to worry about.

I don't know that I'd say I'm "blaming" Reid. I was responding to an earlier post that suggested that the Eagles didn't abandon the run until late in the game. The fact is that Reid probably decided to abandon the run sometime around last Tuesday, when he was game-planning. However, Reid has a history of being pass-heavy. The fact that he developed a game-plan that featured the pass heavily, and that they won the game with said gameplan, would make me concerned that he's going to do that again, despite the fact the Foles hasn't looked very good, other than last week.

I need to decide whether I can trust Brown enough to start him over either Reggie Bush or Danario Alexander. I'm terrified of leaving him in my lineup tonight and seeing 14 carries for 32 yards to be honest. His first two games were hard to ignore, I didn't expect similar in Tampa but figured he might get me 70 and a td. Struggling with this lineup decision more than any other this year.

That is my hope. I can be OK if he ends up a weak ypc, like 19 carries for 51 yards for example, as long as he gets a TD and is active in the passing game as the one league I have him is PPR.
