BTTF 2017 : Scoobus wins World Series (1 Viewer)

I am so horrible at drafting offense, I usually end up in the bottom 5 in offense every year. I tried to font few things different this year and I am wondering if any of you experienced might let me know if I did ok.

lineup: (last years stats)

1.  Andrus SS (.360 OBP,  24 SB, B,A+ def)

2. Forsythe 2B (.333 OBP, 20 HR)

3. Triut CF (He's Mike F-ing Trout)

4. Santana 1B (.259/.366/.498, 34 HR)

5. Gomez LF (hoping the Texas stats carry over to this year, great defense)

6. Lamb 3B (.249/.332/.509, 29 HR)

7. Castillo C (.264/.22/.423, 14 HR)

8. Gardner RF (.261/.351/.362)

All are pretty healthy and consistent. Gomez is the wild-card. His stint in Texas was great. If he can't revert to his great 2014 form I think I should be pretty solid. What do you guys think? I would love to have an offense that was just average!

  •
I don't know......andrus seems more a .310 obp guy than .360, but we could split the difference for argument sake.  gomez spooks me and he is on my NO list.  he seems hurt or just maybe his age is inaccurate, but his drop seems like age 33-34, more than age 30.  the texas stop seems the recent anomaly to me.  he has looked god awful.  I think gardner winds up hitting 1 or 2.  unsure of lamb chopping again at that rate, but you gotta pick someone.  I might be tempted to go trout 2, Santana 3, :LAM: 4 possibly.

I'm currently looking at something like this...

1. Dansby Swanson, SS

2. Andrew Benintendi, LF

3. Miguel Cabrera, 1B

4. Domingo Santana, RF

5.  Alex Bregman, 3B

6. Tyler Naquin, CF

7. Starlin Castro, 2B

8. Mike Zunino, C

SP1 Justin Verlander

SP2 Marcus Stroman

SP3 Jon Gray

SP4 Mike Foltynewicz

SP5 CC Sabathia

CL Roberto Osuna

Man, went younger than I thought on offense.  Need some breakouts! I really like Swanson, Benintendi and Bregman to be good though.  Probably should have gotten a more established CF than Naquin, though, looking back on things.
this lineup scares me, in a bad way.  no doubt about the pedigree, but asking swanson, benintendi, Santana, bregman, Naquin to have big full years without a track record leaves a lot to the unknown.  I think this team is 1-2 years early.  zunino is a career .195 hitter.  SP 3-5 is a coin toss.

That's a really strong offense. Andrus looked good last year. Gardner is solid. Santana an OBP monster. Trout is a beast. Beef is a good bat. Forsythe will get on base.

I like this team.

maybe lineup:

melky

pence

yelich

bryant

morales

gregorius

phillips

perez

with encarnacion gone the Jay GM stated Morales could see a good deal of time at 1b, maybe that helps him get better than a D/D-, but i'll take the chance at this point for a 5 hitter.
Morales fits in very nicely with the rest of that squad.  Great value in round 14.

You've got a lot of upside with this lineup, but a really low floor too. I think that your youngsters all hold their jobs all year because their teams want them to. In the WIS format, just making sure yiu get enough PA's is part of the battle. The only exception to that is Naquin. Because he doesn't have the pedigree of the other 3, I don't think his leash is as long. You have drafted a ton of potential, though. Except at catcher, yuck. :)

As for your pitching staff, it's always a crapshoot with pitching. I like your 1 and 2, and I am high on Foltynewicz. I have a strict "No Rockies" mantra, so I can't get on board with Gray. But if any Rockies were going to have value in this format it would be Gray. Sabbath is is a horse and, if nothing else, should give you 180 IP with the possibility yo be a #4 guy.

Just one guys opinion.

Intrigued to see how this works out in the SIMROID environment WIS is currently employing.  That offense should put up huge numbers.

Gardner was a coup this late.  Think he ends up hitting in the 1/2 spot for you.  Gomez is the big difference maker in terms of a solid offense vs a great offense.   Possible he has a Desmond-like resurgence down in Texas this year.  As X said, the Trout/Santana/Lamb possibility at 2/3/4 is intriguing.

I'm good with my team, fairly established on offense. Starting pitching is guys with upside who have already pitched a full season so no innings concerns (except Pomeranz has not staying in the rotation concerns). OF defense and lack of leadoff hitter are a concern (Reyes could solve the leadoff thing if he plays enough).

C - Russell Martin

1B - Hanley Ramirez

2B - Kolten Wong

SS - Matt Duffy

3B - Josh Donaldson

OF - Carlos Gonzalez

OF - Matt Kemp

OF - Carlos Beltran

UT - Jose Reyes

SP Carlos Martinez

SP Danny Duffy

SP Drew Pomeranz

CL Cody Allen

15.14 Jason Vargas, SP KC

More innings Chasing. Will need a couple bounce backs from Lynn, Wheeler and/or Vargas to pay off big to make up for losing Reyes

Killing my hitting depth here  :sadbanana:

Whenever you have a chance to draft 2 catchers and get zeroes from both, you have to take it!

Because I need more .300 OBP / 25-30 HR guys. Does make me a bit more comfortable with the Renfroe pick and passing on sluggers like Trumbo, Grichik and Duvall
