BTTF 2018: MLB123746 (2 Viewers)

instead of 55, i propose a 2 round supp draft at the AS break, reverse order of initial draft.  it will give people a chance to grab innings or fill a need without going 20-142.
I think the better solution to this is to give teams a chance to fill in rosters from castaways who don't make the 25+AAA of other teams. They would be garbage innings that wouldn't radically alter competitive balance, but would probably mostly prevent the complete season wipes that can mess things up. There are probably only something like 1-2 players every year who go undrafted but would factor in a mid-season draft, so it would only benefit a couple of teams who may or may not even need help. It's injuries that cause problems for most teams and those don't have anything to do with draft order.

The problem with a supp draft is the difference between drawing first pick and drawing 24th pick is enormous. 1st pick in that you could get an all star. 24th you might not find a guy worth adding to your 31 man roster.

Yeah, this is why we always talk about it and then decide it's not worth doing.  AOD's idea has some merit and was implemented in a few cases after last season to get people some innings (crappy ones, but INNINGS!!11!!!).

Having a 100 pot of free agent money to spend throughout the season though would be fair.  And again, ties can go to the owner with the worst draft position.

Do you blow your load on the rookie called up mid April (when they can fall flat on their face), or wait and find there's a guy who already has 25 IP with a decent chance for more?

No supplemental draft or FAAB. We draft, we are done for the year, then we play it out. I don't want to think about this thing during the season.

Besides, its always fun to see the guys who somehow didn't get drafted.
