***BTTF VI: Draft Over! See you in October (3 Viewers)

May 31 update ARMS:

SP KERSHAW 86 IP 1.56 ERA  0.65 WHIP .433 OPS allowed 7.88 IP/G

SP M. Perez  66 IP 3.12 ERA 1.33 WHIP .680 OPS 6.03 IP/G

SP Cy Wisler 61 IP 3.08 ERA  1.03 WHIP .614 OPS 6.13 IP/G

SP C. McHugh 61 IP 4.82 ERA 1.46 WHIP .825! OPS 5.61 IP/G

SP Y. Ventura 55 IP 5.17 ERA 1.53 WHIP .748 OPS 5.57 IP/G

God Bless Kershaw.  Perez and Wisler nice suprises...McHugh/Ventura big disappointments so far.  Yovani Gallardo and Desclafani both back soon, maybe can add depth.  That's basically it though.  B- based solely on Kershaw.  It appears I've blown it again.

RPs:

N. Jones 20 IP 3.66 ERA 0.97 WHIP .581 OPS

Putnam 21 IP 2.49 ERA 1.06 WHIP .549 OPS

Thornburg 22 IP 3.22 ERA 0.90 WHIP .567 OPS

Tonkin 21 IP 3.04 ERA 1.10 WHIP .694 OPS

D. Law 16 IP 2.25 ERA 1.19 WHIP .627 OPS

5 solid guys so far, but no lefties.  Bundy and Hatcher and Goody all #### so far, but maybe can recover a bit and be useful.  Would be nice to see lefty Cooney get called up and be decent to use in the pen.  C+

June 1 update:

Bats. FWIW, all but one of the following 16 bats has at least passed the 50 PA threshold with all but Stewart having 65+:

CA: Francisco Cervelli has cooled a ton but hopefully will end up with a workable OBP. His backup Chris Stewart sucks but at least .315 OBP. Bryan Holaday a pleasant 80+ PA surprise so far with .450 SLG (not that I expect it to last).

1B: Eddie Encarnacion still struggling along, though not completely awful. On pace for 30 HRs none the less at this point.

2B: Ben Zobrist is good.  Kelby Tomlinson with nice OBP so far and Cesar Hernandez serviceable and starts most games. Andres Blanco with Eligibility here, maybe at SS and also likely 3B.

SS: Marcus Semien has cooled on the HRs but still good pop from the position if just over .300 OBP and .220 AVG. Kelby Tomlinson (6 GP) and maybe Andres Blanco (4GP) also have some chance for PAs here depending how awful D is.

3B: Danny Valencia has been great since returning to the lineup. Fingers crossed.  Andres Blanco should be eligible to get some needed (if not all) additional PAs.

LF: Matt Holiday is having a solid if not spectacular year.  .330 OBP / .490 SLG is workeable at his age.

CF: Yoenis Cespedes has been just awesome, though he's slumping of late.

RF: Joey Rickard? Meh, maybe he will have an ok glove? Colby Rasmus has forgotten how to hit HRs. Which he did a lot, but never anything else. Desmond Jennings is just flat out awful. And..., hold it:

HYUN-SOO KIM! has actually looked pretty decent over the last week, playing 7 of 8 games.

Pitchers:

Rotation: Jake Arrieta is pretty awesome.  Johnny Cueto not so shabby either (nearly 7.5 IP/G? in 2016? pretty cool). Joe Ross is so far, so good (fluctuating between pretty good and really good). Bartolo Colon is Bartolo Colon.  And for that he is awesome. I expect a HR from him batting in the sim.

Back End: Justin NiColino (it's a C because he has no Ks) and Colin Rea could be slightly less than serviceable #5s.

Long Relief: Cody Anderson & Chris Young can eat some innings while tossing batting practice in blowouts. At least Chris :deadbanana: Bassitt got over 25 IP (28) so I can use him for some ungodly innings in an emergency.

Relief: Notta so great hear.  Hunter Strickland & Mark Melancon have been very meh but at least been good on the HRs so far. Tony Wilson has sucked.  Joquin Benoit just getting back with only 9 IP after missing a bunch of time.

Right now, I can field a lineup something like:

1. SS - Jean Segura 206/338/464 (234 PA)

2. OF - Jose Bautista 231/361/472 (238 PA)

3. OF - Andrew McCutchen 257/338/451 (231 PA)

4. 3B - Jung-Ho Kang 262/315/600 (only 73 PA)

5. 1B - Hanley Ramirez 287/347/405 (216 PA)

6. OF - Carlos Beltran 270/303/530 (198 PA)

7. 2B - Brett Lawrie 255/339/423 (221 PA)

8. C - Jason Castro 215/349/397 (146 PA)

Everyone gets on base roughly 1 in 3 appearances right now, should have lots of power and a bit of speed. It's right handed heavy and need to have Segura or Owings get some more action at SS to give me someone with a playable grade there likely.

With a decent bench

UT - Chris Owings 281/333/425 (182 PA)

2B - Starlin Castro 245/286/411 (203 PA)

Bat - Dae-Ho Lee 275/318/537 (85 PA)

OF/C? - Blake Swihart 226/333/340 (63 PA)

OF - Matt Szczur 333/388/533 (49 PA)

Backup catcher the big concern. I have Max Stassi as well but he was hurt then demoted, so Swihart playing in the outfield kind of sucks. Options here though for speed/power/defense(?) depending on the situtaion.

Starting Rotation

1. Danny Salazar 60 IP, 2.39 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, 10.7 K/9

2. Marco Estrada 66 IP, 2.43 ERA, 1.02 WHIP. 7.8 K/9

3. John Lackey 68 IP, 3.16 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, 8.8 K/9

4. Taijuan Walker 54 IP, 3.34 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, 8.3 K/9

5. Tyler Chatwood 69 IP, 2.99 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 5.7K/9

The safe vets Estrada and Lackey have picked up where the finished last year. I don't know if they can keep being this good but at worst they'll be solid mid rotation types. The high upside guys have been great (Salazar) good (Walker) or hurt (Raisel Iglesias). In addition to Raisel, I have Zack Wheeler and Matt Garza in the wings, hopefully to pitch in some half seasons for when Chatwood, who's been very good to date, gets figured out.

Bullpen:

Arodys Vizcaino 22.2 IP, 1.59 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, 13.1 K/9

Joe Biagini 21 IP, 0.86 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, 7.3 K/9

David Hernandez 24.2 IP, 2.55 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, 12.8 K/9

Gavin Floyd 23 IP, 3.91 ERA, 0.91 WHIP, 9.4 K/9

Joakim Soria 25IP, 3.20 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, 8.2 K/9

Trevor May 26IP, 5.13 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, 13.7 K/9

Jake McGee 19.2 IP 14 saves, proven closer

My other left handed relievers have all been hurt/demoted. Brett Cecil and McGee were the first two relievers I took and I thought left handed relief would be my strength but so far it has not been. My draft the entire Jays bullpen strategy has yielded two solid pieces so far in Biagini/Floyd.

the DOSO team, currently sitting in 3rd place on fantrax, is a strange one.

on offense, have basically 8 everyday players, one for each position, and almost no bench.

otoh, the pitching staff is LOADED (Sale, Lester, Pomeranz, Rich Hill, Shoemaker, Hector Santiago, Chacin, Nolasco, Tropeano as SPs).

will definitely be looking to give up some SP innings for batting help, when the time comes.

Here's how I'm shaping up so far...

C - :oldunsure: :bag:

(Geovany Soto looking like a good back-up in the SIM at 283/338/483 after he got hurt, may have had enough ABs to start had he not gotten hurt; JR Murphy was supposed to be my guy but he sucked and got sent down.  Going to need to swing a trade here, baring some miracle)

1B - David Ortiz 335/415/730 in 212 PAs - STUD

Ryan Zimmerman 250/312/451 in 205 PAs - Servicable, good be trade bait or depth

2B - Josh Harrison 318/354/419 in 193 PAs - really happy with this production so far, needs to keep it up.

Jedd Gyorko 245/325/419 in 114 PAs - solid utility guy

3B - Maikel Franco 253/297/438 in 212 PAs - not great, wish he'd take a walk.  started hot, but has tailed off.  Still time to get it going

Cheslor Cuthbert 277/294/386 in 85 PAs - may be usable with Moustakas out for the year

SS - Xander Bogaerts 348/397/507 in 247 PAs - STUD

Aledmys Diaz 328/361/539 in 194 PAs - STUD with the bat, glove...eh not so much, MAJOR trade bait potentially

OF - Adam Eaton 273/357/388 in 242 PAs - Shaping up to be my leadoff guy nicely, may not be able to use him in CF as planned though with A Jackson roaming there for ChiSox

Brett Gardner 211/342/335 in 194 PAs - Been in a massive slump, OBP is good, but AVG and slugging is pitiful

Domingo Santana 239/353/381 in 133 PAs - OBP good, some pop, injury curtailed ABs but back today

SP - Matt Harvey

        Marcus Stroman

        Steven Matz

        Ervin Santana

        Vincent Velasquez

Should shape up to be a capable starting 5.  Hopefully Harvey's last start is evidence of a turnaround.  Z Davies looking promising in MIL.  J Lamb and S Manaea pitching (poorly) in the bigs.  Alex Reyes waiting in the wings should the Cards call him up.

BP - Wade Davis (closer)

        Roberto Osuna (SU)

        Mychal Givens (SU)

        Miguel Castro (SU?)

        Austin Adams (SU?)

        Luis Cessa (SU?)

        Javier Lopez (LOOGY?)

        Bud Norris (Long Man)

Back three should be good here.  Can always use one of my starters in the bullpen if need be or trade for another reliever.

Time to give this a lookover

Catcher
Jarrod Saltalamendozaline 128 PA 191/305/436
Nick Hundley 81 PA 250/362/426
Dustin Garneau 67 PA 233/299/367

Need Hundley to stay healthy in the 2nd half and I should be ok. Otherwise could run into PA issues. Production's not terrible for catcher.

Infield

1B Joey Votto 265 PA 237/362/443
1B Billy Butler 104 PA 265/308/408
2B Joe Panik 248 PA 256/320/413
3B Kyle Seager 265 PA 280/355/504
SS Zack Cozart 223 PA 284/314/490
SS Jhonny Peralta 27 PA 333/407/542
UT Gordon Beckham 110 PA 284/382/442
UT Daniel Castro 128 PA 182/220/190 (Only this year's Braves would give that many PAs to a guy with a .410 OPS)

The strength of my team, although Votto and Panik have been a little disappointing offensively. But I should have plenty of PAs, especially if Peralta stays healthy and plays regularly in the 2nd half. Panik, Seager and Cozart all have really good range factors so far so I should be strong defensively.

Outfield

Mookie Betts 295 PA 289/339/524
Khris Davis 230 PA 244/283/498
Ender Inciarte 160 PA 236/302/313
Ryan Raburn 106 PA 258/340/495
Daniel Nava 49 PA 222/286/311
Abraham Almonte/Andre Ethier :deadbanana:

Mookie's better in roto than this format but I still can't complain about that line. Davis could definitely walk more but isn't too far off what I expected. Inciarte's hitting sucks but at least he will give me good CF defense - because of his injury Mookie will have to play CF vs. L, and Raburn should fill in nicely in the corner. Anything I get from Almonte or Ethier is a bonus at this point.

Starting pitching

1. Kyle Hendricks 73.2 IP 3.05 ERA 1.00 WHIP
2. Carlos Martinez 75.1 IP 3.46 ERA 1.13 WHIP
3. Jerad Eickhoff 79.1 IP 3.40 ERA 1.17 WHIP
4. R.A. Dickey 84.1 IP 4.16 ERA 1.32 WHIP
5. Andrew Cashner 53 IP 4.75 ERA 1.45 WHIP
6. Jesse Hahn 34.2 IP 6.49 ERA 1.76 WHIP
7. Joe Kelly 22.1 IP 8.46 ERA 2.24 WHIP

Not great. The first three are solid but unspectacular, and Dickey's a passable 4th starter. Cashner has been usable but not good, and now he's hurt again. Very little chance of salvaging anything from Hahn or Kelly at this point, so I may have to trade for some IP.

Relief pitching

RHP Alex Colome 28 IP 0.96 ERA 1.00 WHIP
RHP Ryan Dull 32.1 IP 2.51 ERA  0.87 WHIP
LHP Travis Wood 24 IP 2.25 ERA 0.96 WHIP
LHP Justin Wilson 25.1 IP 3.55 ERA 1.11 WHIP
RHP Trevor Rosenthal 21.2 IP 3.32 ERA 1.66 WHIP
LHP Kyle Lobstein 24 IP 4.13 ERA 1.42 WHIP
RHP Mark Lowe 19 IP 8.05 ERA 1.68 WHIP

Should be good at finishing games with 4 guys pitching really well, but depth might be an issue. Would help if Rosenthal could cut down that 7.48 BB/9. Losing Keone Kela to injury hurt.

Overall

Pretty mediocre. With a good 2nd half this could be an above-average team, but I don't have enough IP/PA leeway to deal with any significant injuries.

Just realized I have the wrong Miguel Gonzalez on my Fantrax roster. Should have the one who's with the White Sox. That's another mediocre SP arm, which looking at my roster above, I really need.

Well - half way here folks

I guess we are half way through

CA: Have a full catcher already.  Will probably have to deal some Pas to fill other holes

  • Salvador Perez:  308 Pas .283/.318/.500
  • Cameron Rupp:  222 Pas .287/.329/.507
  • Ramon Cabrera: 78 Pas .268/.312/.338
1B:  With Cron injured, that means more Lind, which is not good.

  • CJ Cron:               287 Pas .278/.333/.475
  • Adam Lind:          245 Pas .232/.261/.438
2B:

3B:

  • Luis Valbuena:    297 Pas .269/.364/.474
  • Matt Duffy:         286 Pas .253/.313/.358
SS:  I dare you to find worse Pas

  • Erick Aybar:         260 Pas .212/.265/.267
  • Util:  Please play some games at SS
  • Daniel Descalo:  82 Pas .343/.439/.486
OF:  Will have plenty of crappy Pas to deal.  Bradley is the only bright spot

C - Suzuki time!!!

D'arnaud sucks

1b- Miggy and Freeman are raking.  Not sure who I'm playing where or if I'll trade, but 2 .900 OPS full seasons doesn't hurt

2b- Need to carry several partial seasons, but good stats.  Drew .880 OPS Scooter G .730 ... also have Refsnyder

SS- Trea Turner is raking and playing now.  JJ Hardy will fill the rest of PAs

3B- Longoria 885 OPS plays every day... free joey gallo?

OF- Fowler 870 OPS

Adam Jones 770 OPS

Reddick 815 OPS (missed a month)

Jake Smolinski 850 OPS (137 PAs)

Miggy/Freeman could spend some time at OF if no deal

Overall I think I have a deep lineup here that can win.

Pitching- getting better, but probably still short of everything

1. Kluber - ACE workhorse

2. Jon Gray - already 109 innings and 1.15 WHIP ... bailing me out somewhat

This is where it gets ugly.  I literally have no other players who have started 10 games.  My other starts need to come from

3. Blake Snell - 2.98 DICE and in rotation now, but he's only at 45 innings and counting

4. Rubby/Urena - Might be able to combine these 2 into a passable #4

Tyler Skaggs, Robert Stephenson, Brett Anderson - all of these guys should be getting starts soon and have talent, but they're going to be tiny seasons at best

Bullpen-

CL- Andrew Miller, had a negative DICE most of the season somehow

SUA- Jake Barrett

SUB- Joe Smith

RP- Zach McAllister

Mopup- Overton/Surkamp

Other Failed Starters or tiny innings counts

So yaaaa, probably should trade a bat for SP

Getting close enough to taste trading season - which I am going to need, except I have no depth to trade.

After somehow hanging round the top of the standings until a couple weeks back, injuries and lack of depth have caught up to me. Oof.

Catcher - Will need some PAs via trade (without some miracle ala Tom Murphy or soething)

May come up just short on PAs w 425 PAs of general suckitude. My two backups still on IR, Cervelli red flagged again. If Cervelli misses more time, I'll need to trade for some PAs. F'n catcher

1B: Great so far, not a need.

Eddie E. bein' Eddie E.

2B: Position of depth and potential full time trade bait here.

Zobrist bein' Zobrist, just at one position.  C. Hernandez hitting nearly .300 and over .340 OBP in 370 PAs.   My only potential big trade chip probably. Have Kelby Tomlinson also, if he ever comes back to the bigs.

SS: Solid, not a need.

Semien holding fort with a full complement of PAs to date.

3B: Will be a trade need for part or full timer (maybe for one of my 2B) D Valencia came back and a nice enough slash, but losing PAs with only 316 so far anyway. A Blanco just got hurt, with 168 PAs, so need 150 more one way or another (K Tomlinson, one of my 2B, trade).

OF: Probably have enough to work with, but could be some cogs in a trade. Between the four below, have about 1,200 PAs so far.

Cespedes has cooled but has one or two more hot streaks in him.

Matt Holiday has been doing petty well in everything but OBP.

Hyun-soo Kim as actually earned himself enough of a role to potentially hold down half of a platoon if he continues to get starts as of late.

Joey Rickard - May be the other half a platoon, or more likely defensive replacement for Kim but now injured.

Pitching: I need to get some IPs likely, and am perilously close to just falling behind if I don't get / stay healthy, which has not been an easy thing this year.

Starters: Good chance to have 3.5 great to solid spots. In house could provide for another crappy half or three quarters starter. After that, disaster.

Double Aces in Arrieta and Cueto. Need Arrieta to finish strong and hopefully bring the whip down a bit. Cueto's been great, eats innings as well so far. Neither has given many HR's to date, which in my park is key.

Colon, J Ross (need him back from IR and to pitch well) have been a real nice #3/4 tandem, but likely going to combine for 1.5 pitching spots.

Rea - Just ot traded, and maybe the large confines and new energy of Miami can get him to a more reasonable WHIP less than 1.45, closer to 1.35-38. If so, can be an ok 5 I suppose.

After that it's like Nicolino and Chris Young. Innings I guess.

Pen: Gonna need to trade for a decent set up guy or two. I have three who have good enough WHIP / HR's to give promise but then oof.

Melancon's been awesome so far, Strickland solid enough.  Not to much after there other than Alex Wilson, gives up few HRs but need to get WHIP under control.

aaaannnd...

Rea goes down.  Sucks to have basically a really good team, but these injuries are going to make it near impossible to put out a lineup r have much if any trade room. May need to consider trading a stud pitcher for a haul, but not sure that would even make sense. Have 3 starting pitchers now.  ugh

Love how Koya has to trade for a catcher, a third basemen, a starter or two, and some relief pitching, yet thinks he is going to do this without trading away anything good.

Um, I don't expect that. Which is why I'm screwed.

I could get enough PAs on offense through minor deals, especially if I have two viable starting 2B... but I cant compensate for losing Bassit, then Ross for a long while, now Rea from the rotation.

C - Houston didn't get a catcher, so Jason Castro should get me a decent enough number of PA's, at least. No average or power but maybe an empty OBP

1B - Hanley Ramirez has been a bit up and down but hung around an .800 OPS most of the season. Dae-Ho Lee will provide power off the bench.

2B - Brett Lawire and Starlin Castro continue to be their disappointing selves. Both of their numbers have looked pretty good at one point or another, but at the moment they both look incredibly average. Maybe one will get hot. Lots of PA's, in any case.

3B - Jung-Ho Kang has been decent in terms of power, indecent in terms of average, OBP and consent.

SS - Jean Segura has played 21 games here now and has a nice tidy 312/361/456 line, with 18 steals. Should be my leadoff hitter. Chris Owings should be a nice multi position backup/utility guy.

OF - Carlos Beltran is in Texas now. 304/344/546 will fit nicely in the middle of my order. Presumably Jose Bautista will slot in their as well. He's having an off season by his standards, but still has an .800ish OPS that should climb towards the end of the season. Andrew McCutchen is pretty disappointing but he has to be better than this, right? Worst case, he hits a lot lower in the order than expected. Matt Szczur looks like a decent 4th outfielder/bench guy.

Rotation

John Lackey, Marco Estrada and Danny Salazar are my top 3. All are striking out about a batter an inning. All have ERA's in the 3-3.5 range and their DICE is about the same. Not a lot to choose between them, but we're going with the rotation full of #2's theory. All have at least 116 IP

Tyler Chatwood has 110 IP of 3.50 ERA. High walk, low strikeout, but not many home runs allowed either - he's actually been really good outside of Coors.

Taijuan Walker has been about as expected but is injured and stuck at 86 IP - he's about to start a rehab assignment. Maybe between him and Zack Wheeler, I end up with some sort of #4 tandem?

Bullpen

Homer pick Joe Biagini has the best numbers (42 IP, 2.32 ERA, 2.20 DICE). I was hoping to have Raisel Iglesias as a starter but with a low IP/G, he'll come in here and should be real good (52IP 2.08 ERA, 3.10DICE). David Hernandez and Trevor May have lots of innings, lots of strikeouts but not the best overall numbers. Joakim Soria is meh. Arodys Vizcaino was good, then not so much, then hurt. Then I have a bunch of guys who have been good forever who chose to suck this year - Brett Cecil, Jake McGee. In any case, I should be able to patchwork this.

--

Basically, team looked awesome at the start of the year, looks average now but I should have no problem fielding a (.500) team.

Alright let's rip the band-aid off and see how bad it looks.

Offense:

C:  Woooooooooof.  Went with 2 starters because you can never be too careful.  That's ok they both got hurt anyways. And they both suck!  Between Robinson Chirinos (.192/.274/.471), James McCann (.204/.254/.345), and Chris Giminez (.202/.238/.273) I already have about 450 PA's, so at least I don't have to trade for a catcher, but my goodness do they suck.  The one small bright side is 18 hrs in 450 PA's isn't too shabby from the C spot.

1B: Prince Fielder (.212/.292/.334) is a fat tub of monkey ####.  Again it was between him and Ortiz when I selected him, at least I don't have to follow him anymore the rest of the season.  Joe Mauer (.268/.370/.390) is my big bopper there now, the power hitting threat every team desires at first base.  Tyler White (.204/.288/.365) after an incredible first 2 weeks of the season has pretty much died.  Hopefully I can trade for any sort of a bat to help out here.

2B: After a horrendous start to the season, Howie Kendrick (.269/.333/.385) has rebounded enough to be decently playable.  He's also been playing a lot of OF and 3B, so hopefully he plays 2B enough to get a rating.  Johnny Giavotella (.272/.297/.394) provides potential trade bait or backup PA's.

SS: Jose Iglesias (.257/.308/.344) has been fairly terrible, but with no backup SS going into this at least he's managed to stay healthy. I guess I'll mention Jorge Polanco (.275/.348/.550) here as well.  Less than 50 PA's so far, Twins will probably give him an extended look the rest of the season, although seems like he'll play all over the diamond, not exclusively SS.

3B: Before injury, Matt Carpenter (.298/.420/.568) definitely pulling his weight as a 3rd round pick, hopefully he comes back soon and keeps hitting. Adonis Garcia (.269/.307/.397) provides some depth.

OF: Maybe there is something to that Coors Field after all, eh Corey Dickerson (.235/.282/.458)?  Debated between Gregory Polanco (.287/.361/.506) and Stephen Piscotty (.285/.356/.475) when I settled on Polanco, was able to get Piscotty a whole round later so that worked out well.  Other slugs include Delino DeShields (.225/.303/.326), Mike Aviles (.212/.259/.269), and Chris Coghlan (.156/.253/.276)

Overall, a pretty mediocre/bad line-up.  I don't have to trade for any position which I guess is good, and I might have extra IF PA's to trade away, but the lack of HR power is pretty gross and I'm going to have so many partial seasons to juggle.

Pitching:

In order of how I drafted them...

Jose Fernandez (1.05 WHIP/ 2.08 DICE/ 125.2 IP) has returned to form fairly well, really wish he wasn't on an innings limit or whatever, but I knew that when I drafted him.

Carlos Carrasco (1.025/3.88/91.2 IP) has been pretty good, although it still makes me laugh that he missed more than a month injuring himself covering first base. HR/9 of 1.28 is a high, get used to that theme on this staff.

Carlos Rodon (1.54/4.38/98.1 IP) I was more wrong about him than maybe anyone else I've ever drafted in these things.  I watch him pitch and I just don't get it. 4th round pick, yuck. HR/9 of 1.56

Drew Smyly (1.32/4.27/ 117.1) Another swing and a miss, at least he's healthy I guess. HR/9 of 1.69

Hyun-Jin Ryu ( ) Good job, good effort. I'll include it anyways even though he made only 1 start, HR/9 of 1.93

Chase Anderson (1.44/4.98/100 IP) Look at all those innings! HR/9 of 1.62

Colby Lewis (1.02/4.12/98 IP)  Currently hurt but a very pleasant surprise, hopefully when he comes back he doesn't ruin his numbers. HR/9 of 1.19

Aaron Blair (1.75/5.86/50 IP) Can't complain because he got the opportunity early, he just blew it. HR/9 of 1.42

Brandon McCarthy (0.84/2.51/26.1 IP) Man would that really help if he could pitch the entire second half at anywhere close to this level, not holding my breath.

So yeah, not looking great.  Can I re-pick my stadium for somewhere that's like -4 in every direction for homers?

Bullpen:

Looking decent, I don't really like to project too much since one bad appearance can ruin an entire season, but potentially a place of strength where I could make some trades.  Best so far are Kelvin Herrera (0.86/1.65), Dan Otero (1.04/2.18) and Kevin Siegrist (0.99/4.14)

Overall it's about as mediocre as I had been expecting; didn't realized my starters were giving up that many homers so that was a fun surprise.  I don't appear to be short on PA's or IP anywhere so maybe trades can help save me a little, but I'm not sure the people I can afford to trade will send me back anything super helpful.  Still a lot of season left, we'll see what happens.

Status of The Squad (its bad, Jim)

C -  Wilson Ramos 362 PA, 917 OPS, 16 HR, 36% CS  (v good!)

Backups:  C. Perez 225 PA, 556 OPS, 39% CS and J. Thole/J. Lobaton 100ish PAs each of terrible

1B - C. Davis 435 PA, 780 OPS, 22 HRs

Backups: M. Reynolds 369 PA 777 OPS, 11 HR,  V Mart 407 PA, 844OPS,  18 HR

2B - D. Travis 218 PA, 783 OPS, 7 HR

Backups: T. Beckham 141 PA, 710 OPS

3B - M. Sano?  320 PA, 779 OPS, 15 HR (butcher)

Backups: H. Perez 214 PA, 789 OPS, 8 HR, 19 SB,  Moustakas 113 PA, 801 OPS

SS - A. Simmons 280 PA, 673 OPS

Backups: F. Galvis 419 PA, 619 OPS, 9 HR, 10 SB

OF - :blowsout:

L. Martin 351 PA, 736 OPS, 13 HR, 11 SB

S. Souza 317 PA, 682 OPS, 10 HR

Sano?

B. Buxton 212 PA, 579 OPS, 9 SB

O. Arcia 175 PA, 698 OPS

SP - :blowsoooout:

Kershaw 121 IP, 1.79 ERA, .727 WHIP

M. Perez 132 IP, 4.22 ERA, 1.44 WHIP

M. Wisler (not Cy Young) 122 IP, 5.16 ERA, 1.34 WHIP

C. McHugh 115 IP, 4.75 ERA, 1.50 WHIP

Y. Ventura 119 IP, 4.83 ERA, 1.38 WHIP

A. Desclafani 61 IP, 2.91 ERA, 1.22 WHIP

Y. Gallardo 66 IP, 5.70 ERA, 1.67 WHIP

Maybe I get enough innings to have a rotation, but it won't be pretty at all.

RP:

D. Bundy 59 IP 3.05 ERA, 1.29 WHIP

M Tonkin 52 IP, 3.76 ERA, 1.23 WHIP

N Jones 48 IP, 2.44 ERA, .94 WHIP

T. Thornburg 43 IP, 2.27 ERA, .96 WHIP

D. Law 40 IP, 2.21 ERA, 1.01 WHIP

Z. Putnam 27 IP, 2.30 ERA, 1.32 WHIP

N. Goody 25 IP, 4.26 ERA, 1.22 WHIP

C. Edwards 16 IP, 1.62 ERA, .66 WHIP

Plenty of bullpen arms it seems.

Need more innings, and some big second halves to be anything more than meh.

Up to 9th place.  :excited:

And that's still without the correct Miguel Gonzalez on my team. Could I please get him added to my roster and the imposter dropped?

I guess I can play:

Catcher: Curt Casali (202 PA 0.169/0.256/0.326) and Hank Conger (137 PA  0.194/0.265/0.306). Going to need help here if I plan on this spot being productive at all.

First Base: Mitch Moreland (18 HR) and Justin Smoak (12 HR) providing a Meh Tandem at 1B.

Second Base: Aaron Hill (0.270/0.338/0.400) and Darwin "Super Sub" Barney (0.271/0.321/0.367) holding it down until hopefully Dee Gordon has an amazing second half.

Shortstop: Elvis Andrus (0.291/0.347/0.412, 13SB) having one of his best seasons so far. Bounced back even better than I thought from that horrible inning in Toronto. Barney, Sardinas, Alberto, Mondesi all getting in innings at SS, so a backup should float to the top of the horrible stats most of them have.

Third Base: Martin Prado (0.321/0.371/0.428) might be my MVP so far this season. Late round surprise to make up for A-Rod's crappy season.

Outfield: Bryce Harper can go back to being Bryce Harper anytime now. Matt Kemp (23 HR) and Billy Hamilton (36 SB) make for an interesting starting lineup. Cameron Maybin could push someone out if he continues on his pace. Ryan Rua, Rickie Weeks Jr providing depth/trade value.

21 total hitters with PAs has to be a new record for me.

Starters: Verlander (16 QS, 3.54 ERA), Wacha (13 QS, 4.38 ERA) and Matt Moore (12 QS, 4.08 ERA) will be my workhorses for an average rotation, averaging 130 innings each right now. Alex Wood (3.99 ERA), AJ Griffin (3.99 ERA) and Darvish (3.29 ERA) should figure in with more innings pitched. Chris Rusin and Mike Wright provide Mop-Up fodder. AJ Cole might get some starts late in the season.

Bullpen: Addison Reed (1.97 ERA, 0.874 WHIP), Tony Barnette (2.08 ERA) and Aroldis Chapman (2.00 ERA, 0.806 WHIP) will anchor the back of the bullpen. Bryan Shaw (3.88 ERA) and hopefully a returning Tanner Scheppers will be decent middle relief guys.

115 Games Started, 946 innings pitched, ERA minus a few horrible guys right about 4.00. Best I have ever done by a wide margin.

That said, best I can hope for is 0.500, but at least I can field a team without hopefully too much trouble.

Gary Sanchez just needs to keep playing games and catching some of the time, and maybe I can only trade for a backup C instead of a starter. Now if only my pitchers could be not horrible.

C Schwarber :deadbanana

C Miguel Montero 214pa 185/313/309 and Gary Sanchez 41pa and climbing

1B Chris Carter 459pa 220/309/485 and Eric Hosmer 487pa 274/331/426

2B DJ Lemahieu 477pa 331/405/477 (team MVP, non-Trout division)

SS Jonahan Villar 490pa 302/386/441 and Asdrubal Cabrera 403pa 255/308/410

3B Todd Frazier 479pa 210/296/460

LF Jay Bruce 453pa 252/307/529

CF Mike Trout 494pa  311/423/550

RF Matt Joyce 206pa 266/398/538, and some combination of suck from Franklin Gutierrez, Keon Broxton, Tyler Colins, David Peralta

UT Brandon Drury 348pa 256/302/414 hopefully qualifies at 2B/3B/OF

Clint Robinson, Casey McGehee, Alejandro De Aza, and Wilmer Difo also getting ABs

So my lineup is pretty stacked but I desperately need bullpen help.

C: D Norris/garbage

1B: A Rizzo

2B: R Cano

SS: B Crawford

3B: J Lamb

OF: J Pederson, T Naquin, K Calhoun

Bench: A. Garcia, J Peterson, T Saladino, D Dahl, Aaron Hicks, awful catcher

SP:  M Fulmer (round 30!), JA Happ, C Archer, J Samardzija, Straily

RP: S Cishek, N Vincent, garbage, garbage, more garbage

I'll deal any of the OF starters except Pederson or any of the bench guys for some bullpen help, maybe an effective setup guy or something. I would also deal Pederson, Cano or Crawford if you're willing to fix my bullpen in one shot with multiple pieces. The bullpen situation is really bad.

You have Clippard who is definitely usable. And if Shipley gets a few more decent starts he will have enough innings for you to use in the bullpen.

c:  Chris Iannetta (.217/.313/.340 in 298 pas).  Clevenger and Mesoraco are both dead, but total 131 terrible PAs.  Rene Rivera is up to 130 terrible pas.  Might not have to trade!

1b:  Steve Pearce (.304/.387/.507 in 248 PAs) and Brandon Moss (.264/.343/.572 in 312 PAs).  This should work.  Have Matt Adams (.249/.307/.455 in 277 PAs) for a possible trade.

2b:  Brian Dozier (.265/.339/.526 in 500 PAs).  Good to go here.  Adam Rosales should be in the 200-250 PA range as a bad bad hitter.

3b:  Manny Machado (.305/.362/.549 in 505 PAs).  Good to go here.  Jose Ramirez (.311/.366/.451 in 438 PAs) will probably need to be traded for help elsewhere.

ss:  Didi Gregorius (.286/.315/.467 in 432 PAs).  Should be good here.  No back up unless Rosales somehow manages to find innings to get a rating.

of:  Lorenzo Cain (.282/.326/.401 in 374 PAs), Seth Smith (.260/.353/.410 in 334 PAs), and Lonnie Chisenhall (.292/.338/.448 in 313 PAs) should be pretty close to a full outfield.  Also have 254 PAs of Kevin Kiermaier and 258 of Eddie Rosario right now.  Plus Moss can fill in out here if I don't trade a 1B.

Feeling pretty good about the lineup.

Starters:

Jimmy Nelson (1.49 WHIP/4.07 ERA in 137 IPs)

Gio Gonzalez (1.32 WHIP/4.28 ERA in 137 IPs)

Kendall Graveman (1.38 WHIP/4.37 ERA in 134 IPs)

Sonny Gray (1.5 WHIP/5.74 ERA in 116 IPs)

Aaron Nola (1.31 WHIP/4.78 ERA in 111 IPs)

Ivan Nova (1.34 WHIP/4.68 ERA in 110 IPs)

Derek Holland (1.42 WHIP/5.20 ERA in 73 IPs)

That's a whole lot of bad.  Enough innings to make a rotation at this rate, at least.  Also have Logan Verrett (1.52 WHIP/5.36 ERA in 86 IPs) and Matt Andriese (1.09 WHIP/3.36 ERA in 86 IPs) who made some starts this year, but I might need them in the pen.

RELIEVERS:

Randall Delgado - 60ips of solid slightly below average work.

Ian Kroll - 37ips that are good

Michael Lorenze - 27ips that are excellent

Will Smith - 25 bad ips

Odrisamer Despaigne - 24 bad ips

Adam Ottavino - 15 superb ips

Could be in trouble with a thin bullpen.  Hopefully all these guys, none of whom except Delgado started the year on the big league roster, keep getting work.

With six weeks left to go ...

BATTING

C: Steven Vogt (.270/.317/.424, 372 pa) starts. Tyler Flowers (.253/.343/.425, 198 pa) and David Ross (.227/.335/.430, 159 pa) are both quality backups. Probably will be a net exporter of catching PAs.

1B: Thank goodness Jose Abreu (.280/.335/.435, 505 pa) has been an iron man, because I have no real backup. Was expecting about 60-80 more slugging points, but he went about two months without a HR until last week.

2B: Jonathan Schoop (.280/.312/.474, 471 pa) has been solid. Cliff Pennington (.713 OPS) and Ryan Goins (.512 OPS) are the only real MIF backups ... hope I don't need to use them much.

SS: Carlos Correa (.276/.370/.479, 506 pa) has been pretty solid. No great backup ... either Goins or Marwin Gonzales, who was drafted to be the backup SS but now best qualifies in WIS at 1B or 3B.

3B: Yangervis Solarte (.288/.353/.493, 306 pa) has been a pleasant surprise when on the field, but has battled injuries all year. Marwin Gonzales (.257/.295/.424, 378 pa) and Conor Gillespie (.257/.295/.405, 156 pa) are, at best, servicable backups.

LF: Christian Yelich (.316/.386/.494, 482 pa) has been the man for my squad. Gregor Blanco (.629 OPS) will be an underwhelming backup -- if he even makes the final 25.

CF: Odubel Herrera (.284/.364/.417, 495 pa) has been cooling off since the All-Star break, but I can feel good about taking his current offensive output into battle. Tommy Pham (.256/.350/.528, 144 pa) and Michael Bourn (.667 OPS, 12 stl, 306 pa) are on hand, as well. Pham and Bourn can back up any of the OF spots. Hoping Pham doesn't tail off much so that I can use him as a kind-of power cookie PH in WIS.

RF: Melky Cabrera (.298/.345/.445, 467 pa) will slide over from real-life LF, as the sim doesn't really care. Hitting nicely.

PITCHING

Starters

Jeremy Hellickson (1.14 WHIP, 3.65 ERA, 143 IP)
Chris Tillman (1.21 WHIP, 3.46 ERA, 151 IP)
Cole Hamels (1.30 WHIP, 2.88 ERA, 153 IP)
Brandon Finnegan (1.42 WHIP, 4.54 ERA, 134 IP)
James Shields (1.60 WHIP, 5.78 ERA, 132 IP)
Mike Foltynewicz (1.29 WHIP, 4.50 ERA, 84 IP)
Adam Morgan (1.61 WHIP, 6.62 ERA, 69 IP)

Don't really feel like I have a true #1 SP. Hellickson and Tillman are good, not great. Hamels has been a mild disappointment, but has enough starts left to come in as a viable WIS #2-3 SP. Finnegan has cooled over the last month, but will have a place in the back end of the rotation. Shields has a ton of starts, but has been an inconsistent #### show almost all season -- you look at his high-level stats and would never guess he's had 14 quality starts. Hoping Folty can shave down his stats a bit more and take 15-20 starts away from Shields. Morgan would have to put together 4 or 5 great starts in a row going forward to be usable.

Relievers

Kenley Jansen (0.70 WHIP, 1.80 ERA, 50 IP)
Vidal Nuno (1.15 WHIP, 2.80 ERA, 45 IP)
Shane Greene (1.09 WHIP, 4.04 ERA, 42 IP)
Sean Doolittle (1.04 WHIP, 2.93 ERA, 30 IP)
Xavier Cedeno (1.24 WHIP, 4.21 ERA, 36 IP)
Trevor Cahill (1.32 WHIP, 2.74 ERA, 46 IP)
Zack Godley (1.36 WHIP, 5.24 ERA, 44 IP)
John Axford (1.57 WHIP, 4.78 ERA, 49 IP)
Tommy Milone (1.55 WHIP, 5.68 ERA, 65 IP)
Cesar Ramos (1.68 WHIP, 6.04 ERA, 47 IP)

Jansen is my lone stud pitcher. Greene was converted to relieving early in the season, and has done really well (except too much ERA). Got a trio of decent LHPs in Nuno, Doolittle, and Cedeno (though Cedeno has been cold recently). In a perfect world, Cahill and Godley can trim down their numbers some before the end of the season -- Cahill is walking 5 batters per 9, while Godley is giving up way too many base hits. Everyone else is headed for AAA/mop-up.

I'm starting to have a batting order take shape:

1. L 1B Joey Votto 303/427/509 496 PA
2. R LF Mookie Betts 317/358/570 544 PA
3. L 3B Kyle Seager 286/361/511 504 PA
4. R RF Khris Davis 252/292/511 452 PA
5. R SS Zack Cozart 263/313/442 450 PA

Like that top 5 but it gets pretty meh after that. These guys will be 6-8 in some order:

L 2B Joe Panik 243/317/374 381 PA
R C Nick Hundley 248/322/397 240 PA and S C Jarrod Saltalamacchia 199/314/414 223 PA
L CF Ender Inciarte 270/327/344 388 PA

Well, my one former strength in the OF has caught up with the rest of the :deadbanana: roster of mine.

5 of 6 OFers on the DL.  Only Kim playing as of now. :oldunsure:

C - ????

Geovany Soto could maybe be a back-up with 86 PAs and 269/321/487

1B - David Ortiz 312/406/619 in 463 PAs.  Stud and probable #3 hitter Also have Ryan Zimmerman and his blah 222/284/394 in 335

2B - Josh Harrison (273/303/383 in 424) or Jedd Gyorko (244/310/481) Can move one or the other for reinforcements elsewhere

3B - Maikel Franco (247/303/433 in 475) or Cheslor Cuthbert (290/327/443 in 356 PAs) Can also move one to strengthen holes elsewhere

SS - Xander Bogaerts (311/366/449 in 533) or Aledmys Diaz (312/376/518 in 401) One of them will probably be moved for best C/OF/P combo I can get.  Toying playing Diaz in RF as well.  We'll see.  Also have Tim Anderson (273/296/424 in 251)

LF - Brett Gardner (26/351/378 in 461)

CF - Adam Eaton (276/358/418 in 535) hopefully gets a good enough range rating for CF

RF - ??

4th OF - Domingo Santana (234/347/391 in 150 PAs)

SP1 - Steven Matz (3.40 ERA/1.21 WHIP/3.24 DICE in 132.1)

SP2 - Ervin Santana (3.43/1.21/3.64 in 133.2)

SP3 - Marcus Stroman (4.63/1.28/3.7 in 153.2)

SP4 - Zach Davies (4.18/1.26/3.79 in 127)

SP5 - Vince Velasquez (4.14/1.36/3.8 in 113)

SP6 - Sean Manaea (4.7/1.31/4.3 in 110)

CL - Wade Davis (1.6/1.1/2.61 in 33.2)

SU1 - Roberto Osuna (1.84/.84/2.29 om 53.2)

SU2 - Mychal Givens (3.13/1.34/3.26 in 54.2)

SU3 - Matt Harvey?

SU4 - Alex Reyes? please get to 25 innings young stud!

LOOGY - Javier Lopez? (4.19/1.6/5.38 in 19.1)

LONG - Bud Norris (4.26/1.31/3.77)

Very happy with my starting pitching and infield.  Back end of the bullpen should be a strength too with Davis/Osuna/Givens.  Need work on C (major work here), OF, and potentially strengthen the BP.  Have some great pieces to deal to guys, gonna have to be active!

Top of my lineup is gonna be pretty slick.

1) 2B Jose Altuve 364/426/575

2) RF Paulo Orlando 316/341/424 + Travis Janikowski 258/365/342

3) CA Buster Posey 291/367/453

4) CF Charlie Blackmon 321/382/540

5) LF Angel Pagan 299/353/443 + Chris Young 277/338/508

6) 3B Danny Espinosa 216/317/386 + Jose Reyes 267/316/467

7) SS Jordy Mercer 264/340/374

8) 1B John Jaso 255/343/365 + Josh Bell 444/500/889

Lucked into my RF platoon with Orlando and Janikowski (thanks for nothing Brantley!). Hoping that Josh Bell gets enough at bats down the stretch to complete my platoon with Jaso. Will probably try and make a move for a full-time 3B and let Espinosa be my utility guy.

Will have starting pitching to trade for hopefully a 3B and some RP help. Anyone got a spare 3B?

5-77

I do have a 2B to deal... likely Cesar Hernandez (.295/.355/.396 in 457 PAs) or possibly Zobrist if im wowed.

Would look for either a HR hitting OF (straight up, or could give Holliday in return for one of the top HR producers) or HR hitting 3B, where I could give back Danny Valencia (.302/.351/.478 in 393 - also OF and 1B eligible.

Ideally Id package Hernandez and someone for a lotta HRs and maybe a decent reliever.
