Buffalo Bills O-Line (1 Viewer)

I'm starting to worry a little more about the Bills O-line situation.....any updates on Walker or Peters? What about the backups for these two guys are they any good? I was very high on Lynch 3 weeks ago but that feeling is fading fast.

UPDATE:

Bills LT Jason Peters has decided to end his holdout and will report to the team on Saturday.

Peters won't play in Week 1 against Seattle, but this is great news for the entire Bills offense, assuming Peters has stayed in shape. The NFL granted Buffalo a two-week window to activate Peters, but he could be ready for Week 2.

Walker should be ready for week 1 and he is playing in Peter's spot.. The research I've done seems to indicate that Walker is a good run blocker and replacement for Peter's. It would be better if Peter's was there, but all in all, its a decent line

the line looked pretty shaky against the Lions in the final preseason game. if everyone stays healthy, they should be around average without Peters. If Peters was on the line, they'd be an above average line. they appear to be better in pass protection than run blocking.

RUMOR

Peters back Monday?

scout.com
pure speculationMore likely Peters sits until the Bills give up a boatload of sacks and the offense stalls by keeping in multiple TEs.

At the end of pre-season, the Bills are delusional and think their OL is fine with Chambers at RT and Walker at LT.

They need to play a few games and get out of fantasy land.

I dunno dude. I think the Bills are maybe an 8-8 team with Peters and a 7-9 team without him. I don't think they have a ton of incentive to meet his demands.

No updates, still out. Walker to start Sunday, Karl Malone's illegitimate son is his back up. (Demetrius Bell)

John Clayton of ESPN reports that Jason Peters is not close to ending his holdout and hasn't talked to the Bills for a month.

Peters has three years remaining on his contract, but isn't happy with his $3.5 million salary. Once the holdout extends into the season, Peters will be fined $15,000 per day and forfeit his weekly game checks, so the money is going to add up in a hurry.

Not what I wanted to hear

This thing makes no sense. The Bills are publicly saying that are willing to talk if he comes in and does the work. They have a history of renegotiating with players who comply with this. Schobel got his deal by doing this just last season.

Radio speculation is that Peters might not have recovered fully from his surgery, or he is worried about that so he wants the money before anyone sees him in action.

Ahh....that makes sense, I couldn't figure out why they are so unwilling to work with Peters.

If John Clayton said it, then I expect Peters to be starting on Sunday.

Thanks John, reporting absolutely nothing!!!! And there has been speculation for weeks about Peters not being healthy. Could be why his agent won't even return calls!

I could be wrong, but I believe once the season starts the team can't fine the player anymore, they can just withhold game checks. Although I think they can also start going after signing bonus money as well.

I'm not buying it. If your not healthy and your under contract, you report on time and get paid to do nothing.

Is Langston Walker participating fully in practice? Haven't heard much form the Bills since he went out with a bruised arm.

Wow. I honestly didn't expect that at all. I thought for sure that he was holding out until Week 10. Hopefully he'll have a great year and the Bills will be able to work with him and give him a nice extension in the offseason.

We'll see. An offensive line really needs to work together as a unit to maximize its effectiveness. Considering that he is the most valuable player of the line, his holdout during the entire off-season and preseason prohibited any of this. The guy won't be able to play in Week 1 and probably won't be up to speed until Week 3 or 4 at the earliest. This is not exactly showing that you are a team player.

not a huge surprise as he still has 3 years left on his contract. Bills always had the leverage here. We'll have to see how much he hurt the team by this holdout.

Never was a problem for Seattle and Walter Jones. As soon as Clayton said he may hold-out for the bulk of the season, you knew he'd report.

Well, the guy does announce some things first, but let's face it, he's a mouthpiece for the team. It's very possible that they're putting together their official announcement and that Schefter got the info from Eugene Parker first.

I understand the official announcement (which Brown doesn't do by the way), but if Brown has the freedom to post the story, I would think that he could also confirm it as well.

It's entirely possible that Schefter knew about Peters' decision before the Bills did.
It's possible. But Schefter also said that the Bills have been granted a 2 week roster exemption for Peters. So obviously the Bills knew about it before Schefter posted the story, and had known about it long enough to have gone to the league with the exemption request and received it.

good point. Schefter is in the news breaking business though. I'm sure Chris isn't allowed to release privileged info without the Bills approval first.

Schefter is still the best in the business. Although Jay Glazer has definitely caught up.

Knowing the hard headed Bills they will sit Peters and let him rot on the bench while in the process not even coming close to re-signing Evans like the goal before the season.

Front Office is a joke.

FWIW,

John Clayton, from ESPN, is reporting this:

Pro Bowl left tackle Jason Peters has notified the Buffalo Bills that he will end his holdout and report to the team on Saturday, said his agent, Eugene Parker.

Once Peters reports, talks are expected to start for a new contract. Peters, who has three years remaining on his contract, sat out the entire preseason, with the Bills refusing to reopen contract talks with him until he reported. He has been fined $15,166 a day for each of the 43 days he has held out. By reporting, Peters won't lose a game check of more than $191,000. Though the team will be granted a two-week roster exemption, Peters will have a chance to make his $3.25 million base salary this year. The NFL confirmed that Peters has sent the league a letter requesting reinstatement, which is a requirement in this case because the player is on the Bills' reserve-did-not-report list. "It is our understanding that Jason has filed a re-instatement letter with the National Football League and that he is reporting to One Bills Drive tomorrow morning," Bills chief operating officer Russ Brandon said in a statement. Peters, who had offseason surgery to repair a sports hernia, must still pass a team physical, making it very unlikely that he will play Sunday, when the Bills open their regular season by hosting Seattle. Pending his health and how quickly he becomes accustomed to learning the team's new offensive scheme, Peters would have an outside shot at playing the following weekend when Buffalo travels to Jacksonville. It's unclear whether Peters' contract situation has been resolved or what assurances he's received from the Bills involving a new deal. The Bills, throughout the dispute, have been steadfast in maintaining they wanted Peters to play under his existing contract this season before opening talks for a new deal. Peters has not commented publicly on his holdout. His agents, Eugene Parker and Vincent Taylor, have not returned calls from The Associated Press.

John Clayton is a senior NFL writer for ESPN.com. Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

Awesome news if it's true! Bump Lynch, Edwards and the entire Offense.
