Burger King in Talks to Buy Tim Hortons (1 Viewer)

I don't care if the crappy burgers make their way to America's Hat. I just want that :moneybag: coffee to make its way back south.

I assume this means quality goes down and Starbucks takes over. How are Tim's in the States? Is the coffee different?

Already lots of Tim Horton's in the US, but they seem to be mostly located in Western NY, Michigan, and Ohio areas.

They used to be co-owned with Wendys and that probably led to a lot of their previous expansion into the states.

this is pretty crazy:

Tim Hortons holds 62% of the Canadian coffee market (compared to Starbucks, in the number two position, at 7%)

There were a crapload of them here, but Dunkin drove them out of the area in short order. Tim's = awesome. Dunkin = crap. So why wouldn't they drive them out? I'm just hoping the full Timmy's line of coffee will be available at BK's in the states.

What's so great about Tim Horton's? Never been there, but saw some outside of Detroit when I was there for business recently.

Tim Hortons everywhere here... A lot of them here teaming up with cold stone creamery. I'd hate to see bk ruin them, love Timmy ho's

How could this happen? All they have to do is put out different flavors in these things like they do at Panera, be sure it's fresh, and let the customers serve themselves. Even 16 year-old snot-nose high school kids couldn't mess that up.

Love my Timmy Hos on 34th and Park. Just about the only place on the block that has bacon. Their maple donuts are also too good for my health.

It's basically a Dunkin Donuts but way better.
This.

Tim Hortons started as a donut shop in Canada. Became to Canada what Dunkin Donuts is to the US. Then they added breakfast and lunch options. Dunkin tries to duplicate it, but just falls short. Here in Columbus, Dunkin has been trying to grow its presence for the past few year. When they fail, Tim Horton comes into the space and succeeds. The only thing Dunkin had on Tim Hortons is a huge group in the northeast loyal to Dunkin coffee.

That being said, when I just want good coffee, I go to Starbucks. But when I want food and coffee I go to Tim Hortons.

 So f'n good. Love their powdered blueberry donuts too.

I never see anyone at Burger King. Where are they making their money these days? No one goes
BK is such garbage. Remember their original chicken sandwich back in the day, how it was actually thick and juicy? Got one last week... it was like eating breaded cardboard. Totally embarrassing. The meat on their burgers takes up roughly 60% of the bun. Acquiring Timmy's coffee would be the only reason I'd step foot in there again.

My heart rate increases so much after drinking Starbucks, I literally thought I was having a heart attack the last time.

That's what I like about it. Not joking. I have a naturally slow heart rate.

I have a seven state territory to cover.

There is better coffee than Starbucks out there if one is willing to go find it. But when we are talking chains, Starbucks is pretty good coffee. So is Tim Hortons and Dunkin Donuts. McDonalds even got a lot better about five to seven years ago. If all four are right next to each other, I'm picking Starbucks... unless I want breakfast too, and then I'm going to Tim Hortons.

I don't drink Tim Hortons coffee. I like their food.

Do Tim's is the States have chili? I like their chili.
They used to as of like two years ago. I am not sure if they still do. I used to get it all the time.

 having multiple Tim's on my old college campus. We actually have one on the 1st floor of our office building too but they only serve a limited breakfast and coffee. They're EVERYWHERE. And it's great.

Never had a coffee from their shops but their bagged coffee was disgusting. It was bland with a wierd taste towards the end.

Based on this, DD is so much better.

they have begun pppping up around NYC. Locations in Penn and at Jamaica train station and ive seen a few around Manhattan.

It's just a damn good cup of coffee.

I've never had Tim Hortons. Is it just a coffee shop like Sbux? Or closer to a Dunkin or like a Panera?
Excellent pastry. Closer to Starbucks.
Starbuck's pastries are horrible.
That's not what I meant, but I agree.

I mean it's similar to the Starbucks' offerings, only better.

*Plus a full, delicious donut line.
Not a Tim Horton's within 1,000 miles of New Orleans ... but whenever I hear about them, it's "donuts" first, second, and third. Didn't know they were known for coffee and other food items. Thought they were basically Canadian Krispy Kreme.

Now I'm kinda hoping we get a Tim Horton's someday ... I like options.

Help me out here, I'll start us off on the Offdee Coffdee scale.

Where does Tim Hortons fit in here?

10. Kick ### coffee from Kicking Horse

7. Starbucks Pikes Place

5. McDonalds

3. Dunkin Donuts

2. Your average coffee maker in the kitchen at the office of a big company

1. Folgers

*this is for corporate tax purposes, correct?
that's what they are saying. they would move their corporate HQ to Canada for a better tax rate.

what I don't get is Tim Horton's seems to have almost twice the annual revenue as BK, so why does BK get to "buy" Tim Hortons?

Pikes Place kind of sucks. I'd put Timmy's coffee on par with it. Clearly above McDs and Dunkin.
I figured some might buck at my rating system. Feel free to give your own, but use as many reference points as possible.

well, I drink a lot of Starbucks but I always go with the Dark Roast there.

PIkes is bland. Will drink it when that's the only option, but it's better with a shot of espresso or something added.
