PIkes is bland. Will drink it when that's the only option, but it's better with a shot of espresso or something added.
is there an **Official*** Coffee snob thread? If so, I need to go find it. last couple years I have stepped my game way up but I still have a lot to learn. This is going to turn into the coffee snob thread.

Do Dark Matter from across the street?my favorite coffee by far is Stumptown. Put them at 10, and adjust backwards as necessary I guess.
I like Dark Matter and Intelligentsia too. I'll slot them at 9 or so on my rankings I guess.Do Dark Matter from across the street?my favorite coffee by far is Stumptown. Put them at 10, and adjust backwards as necessary I guess.
Have you had Big Shoulders yet? This is my goto for iced coffee.I like Dark Matter and Intelligentsia too. I'll slot them at 9 or so on my rankings I guess.Do Dark Matter from across the street?my favorite coffee by far is Stumptown. Put them at 10, and adjust backwards as necessary I guess.
This isn't a coffee snob thread. It's Burger King/Tim Hortons thread. While I like Tim's coffee, it has no business being in a coffee snob thread, IMO.
I have not, but heard it was great.Have you had Big Shoulders yet? This is my goto for iced coffee.
Unfortunately the reaction will be even worse. Instead of admitting that our absurd tax code needs an overhaul to become more competitive, they'll vilify companies for doing what makes perfect sense and legislate it away.I gotta say, it's a pretty dark day when a U.S. Corporation looks to moving to CANADA to reduce their taxes.
Not any more... new stuff it pretty darn good.Starbuck's pastries are horrible. It's just a damn good cup of coffee. What's so great about Tim Horton's? Never been there, but saw some outside of Detroit when I was there for business recently.
Excellent pastry. Closer to Starbucks.I've never had Tim Hortons. Is it just a coffee shop like Sbux? Or closer to a Dunkin or like a Panera?
Out of curiosity, what specific pieces of code need to be adjusted?Unfortunately the reaction will be even worse. Just my opinion, but they would be better served revisiting the Worldwide Tax system (and tax rates on foreign income), looking to further tax credits on R&D and/or manufacturing, and lowering the overall rate, than spewing this unpatriotic crap.Out of curiosity, what specific pieces of code need to be adjusted?Unfortunately the reaction will be even worse. I think eliminating the right of a multinational corporation to lobby our government would be a good start.Ilov80s said:Out of curiosity, what specific pieces of code need to be adjusted?humpback said:Unfortunately the reaction will be even worse. The list of what pieces do not need to be adjusted would be much, much shorter. Generally, we need to simplify things IMO (on both corporate and personal)- fewer deductions/exemptions/carve outs which will allow for lower rates, taxing on residence not citizenship, shifting towards consumption based instead of income based, etc, etc, etc.Ilov80s said:Out of curiosity, what specific pieces of code need to be adjusted?humpback said:Unfortunately the reaction will be even worse. Ignore personal tax laws, which ones need to most adjusted for corporate tax purposes and how would it help? Also, if by helping you just mean lowering, wouldn't that also have to be accompanied by budget reductions or increased debt? The list of what pieces do not need to be adjusted would be much, much shorter. Not if these politicos have anything to say about it.The General said:This is going to turn into the coffee snob thread.
Doesn't matter. We'll cover the loss in revenue with a few minutes of the printing press. Tell the executives I said to have fun in frigid Canada instead of living on the beach in Miami.hxperson said:I gotta say, it's a pretty dark day when a U.S. Corporation looks to moving to CANADA to reduce their taxes.
They're related so it seems silly to ignore the one million pound gorilla in the room, but I'll play along- no, it wouldn't have to be accompanied by budget reductions or increased debt. Not only would lowering the loopholes et al offset at least some of it, by making our system more competitive, it removes the incentive for companies to do these things in the first place.Ignore personal tax laws, which ones need to most adjusted for corporate tax purposes and how would it help?
