Buy low on Greene? (1 Viewer)

Roster & scoring are in my sig.

I am putting in a claim for Torain & Ridley (dropping Scott & Burleson) but neither are a guarantee. The last thing I want to do is add another RB dud to my roster--I'm looking at you Mendy and SJax. But Greene does get lots of touches, Mangold is coming back soon, and Ryan vowed to run the ball more.

The Greene owner in my league is 0-4 and has Greene on his bench, so I might be able to get him for pretty cheap. Is this a good move, or are we seeing the best of Greene right now?

Thanks!

Take a look at the Powell thread. http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=613153

I just don't believe anymore. Saying you will run the ball more is not the same as doing it and I don't see this as a situaiton where you look at greene and see the obvious talent being held back by coaching philosophy. Instead, what you see is a team that HAS run a lot and tried to run a lot and the results are pedestrian.

I might do it for dirt cheap in a dyansty because you can never have too many RBs but even at that he's not as young as people might think so it really would have to be very cheap.

The guy still probably values him more than he's actually worth. That's what happens when a player's value is just above zero. Ryan's emotional vow to "ground and pound" doesn't magically give the line the ability to open up holes. Ryan is obviously freaking out because he doesn't have the personnel to match his philosophy for the first time since he became head coach. I'd love to see the Jets run the ball effectively against the Patriots but that doesn't seem likely. Airing it out against the Patriots seems like the way to beat them. It's funny he would make the comments the week before a game that require a completely different approach from "ground and pound".

This seems like the same ? that was asked last year at this time and the prior off seasons. Greene isn't the answer. He was fools gold becasue they want him to be a bell cow and he had a nice run in the playoffs a couple of years ago. No more the answer than D. Brown was in Indy (much higher pick). Let someone else keep wishing he did something and move away. Take someone else with upside Powell, McKnight on NYJ roster or the two you mention above.

I was offered greene and a 1st rd pick in our rookie draft next year for vick yesterday LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!

I laughed the owner into giving up. ridiculous. Greene is a dead man walking. He has had 3 years to prove his worth as a legit starting NFL RB. and dont give me that "LT hogged the spotlight last year" crap. If Greene was anything special he would have outproduced the 30 yr old LT in the twilight of his career last year and it would have been ultra clear who owns that backfield after the 1st few games of the season.

I commend Rex Ryan for doing his best to give Greene all the leash that he needs to either sink or swim....but he is sinking. Time to give another young kid a shot. Say what you want about shanny but he is excellent at that. maybe way too much on the other side of trhe coin. Loyalty to a mediocre player will get you a losing record. Ryan will wake up and start giving mcknight and powell some carries as the losses mount.

I would not target greene at all.
