Caddyshack: The Inside Story (1 Viewer)

Bill Murray was only on set for 6 days? Wow.
And had ZERO scripted lines. It was all improvisation. :lmao:
This and the gopher blew me away as well. The gopher was originally a sock puppet in one quick scene. They realized they needed a better way to transition between scenes and had an animatronic gopher made and expanded it's screen time. It took much of the time that Noonan's romance was supposed to fill, leaving most of his romance on the editing room floor. It's incredible how different the movie is from the original concept.

And what a great decision....Animatronic gopher >>>>>>>>>> Noonan and Maggie

I always thought the caddies scenes were the weak spots anyways, other than the ones giving Ted Knight & Chevy more screen time.

well, TANKS FER NUTTIN GOPHER!!

Can anyone confirm or deny whether the guy who played Noonan had ever played golf before? I have a buddy who swears he picked it up just for the movie. To me, the swing is too pure.

He turned into an avid golfer after Caddyshack, but I don't believe he never had played before . . .
O'Keefe always has been intrigued by the game and it actually was a caddy at famed Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y., which has hosted four U.S. Opens and the 1997 PGA Championship won by Davis Love III.

"I lived in Larchmont, the town next to Winged Foot," said O'Keefe, who studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. "I was a looper for two summers at Winged Foot when Claude Harmon was the pro. I saw Butch (Harmon, who has been a teacher and mentor for Tiger Woods) play when he was in his 20s. They were amazing players.

"I was always fascinated with Ben Hogan, Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer. I read Mark Frost's book about Francis Ouimet (The Greatest Game Ever Played). I loved golf, was drawn to it, but I never took it seriously as a player.

"When I got the chance to play in 'Caddyshack,' I really wanted to do it. I trained and practiced for six weeks."
The article itself is pretty interesting . . .LINK

Lol. That was funny

It was interesting what they said about the blowing up of the golf course scene. A pilot flying into the local airport had radioed in that he thought a plane had crashed and exploded. Funny stroy about them sending off the owners of the course to a fancy dinner somewhere so they could blow the place up. Also that they used way too much explosive than realyy needed.

Also found it interesting that Cindy Morgan was much more prudish in real life than she came off in the movie. Agree she still looks very nice.

I stay about a few miles from Rolling Hills CC when I go to Miami...drive thru their all the time. You can't get behind the clubhouse...but can see the front and side. Will get on someday.

you know, a caddy, a looper, a jock.

Friggen Gene Shallit. What a hack. Called Ted Knight's performance "awful"? Really?

The show was mostly stuff we knew but some interesting things. O'Keefe remarking that someone saying they were a huge Caddyshack fan would upset him. Ramis saying the poor Caddyshack reviews and experience with the movie didn't do Kenney in, that he was depressed way before that. Rodney doing coke at the audition. Lacey boob job. Odd looking Kenny Loggins. Rickles as Czervik? Nothing about Maggie's spiral into drugs after that movie or did I miss it?

This is what Chevy Chase said on Stern as well, though Chevy also thought that his death was just an accident anyway.

I just got to see the DVR.

The stories about Rodney were hilarious. Him not knowing what "action" meant and having to say to Ramis "what, you want me to come out and do my bit?"

Was there anyone that Chevy Chase got along with?

O'Keefe seemed a little bitter, mentioning several times that he loathed having the movie quoted to him. I guess he would prefer to have people quote "The Slugger's Wife".

That little producer, mini-Kenny Rogers, came off as an arrogant doosh, in particular how he treated Cindy Morgan. (I read up a little on him. Allegedly, he has a third grade reading level--seriously).
