All, in the past I have seen people ask for votes of the FBG population to get some benefit for themselves or community, well this is my shot at asking for help for my community.
Kraft is running a Hockeyville Program to search for the most passionate program in America, with the winners receiving a $150,000 to be used towards rink improvements and host an NHL Preseason Game, they do have prize levels to those who do not finish in first place. I hate to ask for help but our program could desperately use improvements to our rink. Our rink is in Southeastern Wisconsin, a city called Kenosha, WI. Our rink opened 45 years ago, I started playing hockey out of the rink 40 years ago and played all of my childhood at the rink. Not much has changed in those 40 plus years except for the needed for improvements. Now, my 6 year old son is playing for the same organization at the same rink, he loves the sport and takes pride where he plays.
Our rink has plenty of upgrades it could use, improved lockers, a new roof, improved heating within the rink, etc. Hosting an NHL preseason game would be an unforgettable moment for the kids within our organization, but the improvements would mean much more. To think that the improvements could someday allow my son to have a child of his own playing at the same rink is an exciting thought. Any money we win would be put to great use for our rink.
