"Like many players at this stage of their career, I am currently evaluating options for my future. I would expect to have a decision regarding this matter in the not-too-distant future."
did you move him?If you're right it would be a huge steal.hahaha don't do that! If this is wrong I'm gonna feel terrible. In negotiations to move him now.
What is the point of releasing a statement saying you're about to make a statement? Is this a negotiating tactic?"Like many players at this stage of their career, I am currently evaluating options for my future. I would expect to have a decision regarding this matter in the not-too-distant future."
Good work man. Your contributors are greatly appreciated"Calvin Johnson released a statement Wednesday confirming he is considering retiring from the NFL this offseason."
good callToo late, you are a tool. Can't say. Hey he could be wrong, I don't wanna look like a total tool if it doesn't happen which I know I'm risking. But just watch tomorrow.what is your source?Shocking news to be released tomorrow apparently.
Doesnt even matter if you really do have a source, threads like this are just idiotic.
Only a few people attacked him. Most people appreciated the thread.Lot's of Egg on people's faces. The attacks on the OP were ridiculous.
Deamon had no previous rep for having access to inside info, so when it didn't happen on time, the ribbing was predictable. Now he has rep. He's paid his dues and will be treated with deference the next time he comes to the board with a scoop. I didn't read all of the replies, but most of the ones I did read seemed mostly in jest. This thread is a perfect example of the society we live in today. Something didn't happen the nano-second it was expected so the barbarians were summoned to the gates and now might end up with some egg on the ole face.
A man with patience and timing skills is worth his weight in gold in todays Twitter/FB/insta-brag society.
Oof.Brb, gonna start my own rumor thread! Joe Flacco wants to be a woman!!!He was pretty upfront that it was a rumor his friend who works within the Lion's org told him. He shared it here, and said from the beginning, multiple times, his friend could be wrong and it was nothing but a rumor.Someone give this guy a 3 day ban for spreading rumors.
If you traded Calvin, or made any rash decisions, that's your own fault.
As I stated earlier, the only thing questionable about the original title was the omission of the word RUMOR.Thanks guys. I fully expected to get attacked for starting it but figured I'd share what I heard with the community anyways. Even I started to get a little worried though once it didn't happen right away though haha
It still hasn't happened, lol. Thanks guys. I fully expected to get attacked for starting it but figured I'd share what I heard with the community anyways. Even I started to get a little worried though once it didn't happen right away though haha
Yep, such is the problem with the Shark Pool. Amateur comedians circle jerking all over to the point that any piece of information that might actually help your fantasy team gets lost in the noise. I had two offers out trying to move him (not because of this) that I felt like I had to withdraw now after this news officially broke.did you move him?If you're right it would be a huge steal.hahaha don't do that! If this is wrong I'm gonna feel terrible. In negotiations to move him now.
Thank you for braving the inevitable ribbing (of which I contributed my share) to offer up your information. Thanks guys. I fully expected to get attacked for starting it but figured I'd share what I heard with the community anyways. Even I started to get a little worried though once it didn't happen right away though haha
haha he's not THAT involved where he'll know too much about that stuff. But I can always try. Hopefully no more productive lions will be considering retirement any time soon.Thank you for braving the inevitable ribbing (of which I contributed my share) to offer up your information. Thanks guys. I appreciated your detailed "sourcing" of it, and hope that you can cultivate said source for more such information in the future. See if you can't get him to get some insight into RB usage for the weekly game threads.![]()
He's not a football player?I figured this would come soon. I've said for awhile that he's the next Barry in every sense. He's a lot like Barry in that he's a very personal, reserved and professional. It's his job not his passion. He's not a football player, he's a person that plays football.
I never ever do this but to the vast majority of the Shark Pool I say...As usual the SP is blowing a gasket over nothing. Someone overheard a rumor and wanted to share. Had it been correct or if Johnson is no longer a Lion next season for whatever reason then I think the OP was more than justified.
I say bring the rumors and we will decide if they are horsespit or not.
I'm MOP and I approve this message.
Yes he does.Regardless of what he ultimately decides to do, Deamon deserves some praise for giving us the scoop.

But I love you all still the same
While it does seem likely that Calvin is going to retire, it would be great to see him get a chance to play for a winning team that gets into the playoffs. He may just not be able to physically do it.I assume a lot of it also $. The Lions need him to take less and he just might not think what they are offering is worth putting more miles on his body. I can see him as the type that's not interested in changing teams either. Calvin has real issues with his knees and has been avoiding surgery, I don't blame him for leaving now.
I wouldn't respond but to simply clarify that I meant the OP owned this place, not MOP. Simply pointing out I was the first to have his back and inject some rational thinking. If you can't accept that or agree with that I feel sorry for you.I never ever do this but to the vast majority of the Shark Pool I say...As usual the SP is blowing a gasket over nothing. well done on the scoop OPCorrect. The signing bonus is prorated over the life of the contract, any remaining balance hits the salary cap. If the cut/retirement happens before June 1st the entire amount hits in 2016. If the cut/retirement is after June 1st the Lions can split the hit between 2016 and 2017.All kidding aside, even if he did retire, that wouldn't take away his cap hit, right? Doesn't it accelerate his signing bonus or something? I seem to remember this happening with someone a few years ago, though the specifics escape me.I think he told them, fire Caldwell or else I'll retire. Then the Ford's looked at Calvin's cap number and said ... we were going to fire him but now we'll keep Caldwell.
That's the only thing that makes sense in the Lions recent decision making processes ... And this thread
