Chunky Soup

Here we go -

Oakland:

1075/8

I think if Oakland drafts CJ they will add QB or linemen to boot. That will allow him to have a better-than-expected rookie campaign for the Raiders. They're in terrible shape, but they're not THAT stupid. If Moss + no support couldn't get it done, I doubt they're going to try it again. I say its certainly not the most likely place for CJ but I feel he'd still crack 1000 since they'll get some help elsewhere too.

TB:

1200/8

Garcia throwing with RB help/WR help, can't be bad. This offense has produced good #1 WRs when other things are in place (QB, Line) and we haven't seen that complete for a while. He will produce here.

ATL

1350/10

Vickilicious will have a feild day with him.

Any other teams we're missing?

Those are pretty high numbers for a rookie WR. I love the guy's talent and long-term potential, but counting on those types of numbers from a rookie WR seems unwise. By 2008/2009 he could/should be producing well, but I'd temper my expectations for 2007.

That's true. With a few exceptions, most rookie WRs need a year to get acclimated.I'd say 700/5 would be a solid rookie year. Then look out in year two.

Under normal rookie circumstances, sure.

I hope he goes to an offensive system that will feature him often and use all his talents. Not all(like the Pats) are "built" as such

I want the Lions to draft him..just to see everyone go wild!
Hehe, as a Lions fan, I actually want Detroit to draft him. Living outside Atlanta, I have watched him a lot, and he is the real deal. Unbelieveable talent. It's a shame he had Reggie Ball throwing him the rock. Eeesh... Anywho, we have many many needs, and sure we've been the butt of the league for...ever. But it's hard to pass up talent like this. At first I liked the Rogers pick back in 2003. Unreal talent, but just didn't pan out. Roy Williams I really really liked, and he has shown some flashes of brilliance. Mike Williams, at first, I liked, but the reports of him looking doughy and bad work ethic just soured it all. Now, you have an incredible talent, who could do extremely well on a growing offense like Detroit's. Would be fun to watch...

If he goes to ATL you're going to be very disappointed.
maybe in 2007.he will be a monster in 2008 with Brohm throwing the rock.
Uhh, no. With ATL having traded off Schaub, they have reaffirmed their faith in Vick. He is the QB of the future for them, as it has since 2001.But I completely agree with LHUCKS in that if ATL somehow snagged Johnson, fantasy owners will be very disappointed. Johnson has incredible talent, but it's just not in Vick's style to chuck it up to someone like him.

I think with Denver possibly trading Al Wilson to the Giants as reported on NFL.com..... I would guess it would be for Giants 1st round pick...... giving Denver 2 1st round picks. The Denver trading Detroit for the 2 1's and possibley one of Denvers other extra picks for the 2 over all. Then Denver drafting him.

LOL

I think it's crazy the OP has him putting up a better season with ATL than with Tampa. CJ can't throw the ball to himself!

Although people are going nutty over him, I don't think it's a good idea to expect anything over 900 yards from the guy, and that's stretching it IMO. I'd put him at 60/850/7 as a pretty solid rookie season for him. CJ is very talented, but he has alot to learn.

If Michael Clayton can put up 1000 his rookie season with Griese, I don't think it's far fetched to say CJ won't do it.

But Clayton didn't have CJ there to take away any touches. CJ will have Clayton there. How much does Calyton's presence take away from CJ? Are there enough catches to go around all of TBs receivers for CJ to put up monster FF numbers as a rookie?

Clayton has really fallen off. He's not the impact player he was two years ago.

There is no reason Calvin Johnson not to reach 1000 yards. If you throw it, he will catch it.

One thing that could certainly hold him back, as with any other high first round pick, is failing to get a contract signed and getting into camp on time. Anyone expecting starter production from him this year better watch this closely regardless of where he lands.

Since lod2005 got banned, someone's gotta say it:1800/17 regardless of team.
He got banned? Really??Hmmm, now I have to come up with a new #2 on my Clueless But Fun To Read FBG poster list. :thumbup:Edit to add -- I think he's now FavreCo. :)

Are you kidding me? Why would the Giants give up a first rounder for Al Wilson? I am expecting him to cost a mid round pick. Wilson is good but is getting long in the tooth.

I don't think it's far fetched either, but it's not likely IMO. How many rookie WRs, even starters from the get go have 1k yards in year 1? It's just pretty darned rare, no matter what your name is. I guess we may be splitting hairs. ;)

:D  im gonna miss that dudewhile hes a great prospect, people are doing the same thing over and over and over and over....expecting big production out of the rookies. foolish

1,300 and 13 TD's. He appears that good. Moss was the last rookie with that much talent at the WR position.

This guy won't hold out. He will get paid$$$$$$$$$.

Moss had a stud veteran QB lobbing balls up to him on a very explosive team with Chris Carter opposite him to shield him from double teams. Calvin Johnson will almost certainly not have that kind of idea situation and his stats will reflect that.55/850/4

So, you are predicting something closer to Darrell Jackson's rookie season, when he started 9 games?

You mean to chuck to someone like a receiver? Yeah, Vick seems to have an aversion to that doesn't he?

Jackson isn't the only WR in the league. Lots of other average and above average WRs had average rookie seasons.

Dude sounds like he was an all pro & legend. I'm up for taking over his gig. Let's start with 1450/13 TD's. In honor of him, I will draft Calvin Johnson myself. :lmao:

He (you?) was always entertaining. As far as the clueless part, hey, anyone who ever disagrees with me is clueless. :P

More than 1,000 yards, less than 10 TDs.

I don't think this guy is the next Moss, but he will probably do fairly well out of the gate because he is sure to be a day 1 starter. Best case scenario, he ends up in Tampa Bay, Jeff Garcia plays like he did last year, and Galloway gets injured early. In that case, I would put him somewhere around Michael Clayton rookie numbers with a few more TDs. 80/1200/9 tops.

54-817-8.

These are the exact numbers of another young very good WR in his rookie year. This is probably a solid baseline to hope for.

i think landing in detroit would allow for a pretty big rookie season. veteran (albeit turnover prone) QB capable of putting up big yard and td numbers. stud WR on the other side to prevent double teams. and mike martz calling the plays.
