Can you negotiate with DirecTV? (4 Viewers)

I just called.  She said the charge covers me from May 2016 through April 2017 and as such I will be receiving Sunday Ticket free again this year.

Let me know if they tell you the same thing when you call. Specifically point them to the Activity Window, as that helped her understand what was going on.
Mine says the same thing, but when I go into My Programming, it doesn't confirm that I have it, I need to activate it if I want it.

my d-day is 6/6  i spoke to a regular rep today and she said to wait until the promo currently on my bill ends, and to call back on the 6th.

When I called the other day about the 2yr offer on the other day, they told me they couldn't tell if it went for another 12 months or not until my bill is up after today. Seemed odd, but the guy said if my bill is too high, they would work with me to adjust. But, I'm thinking of calling the retention number today and seeing what happens.

 
I just went into the chat, and we told me June my bill would be $4.75 not sure why but not complaining,  It was a mess last month when I tried to get the deal.  July will be $129,  He gave me a different number and a pin number to get credits off, he said they will lower my bill for sure.  I'll call on lunch.   It'll probably just be the $20 off for 24 months - 2 year commitment, and $10.00 for 12 months, which I won't take.  I'm hoping that since my statement generated today I'll be able to get better deals as the promo from last year is gone.

Definitely let me know what happens. Today is my last day of my 1yr deal from last year. Both times I've called, they've told me to call back after I get my last statement and they'll be able to offer me something.

I will, Mine might be different because I disconnected, re-connected, my payment dates got all messed up.  I'm not sure why my bill is only 4 bucks this month.   I paid May's which was my last month of the deal at around $70.00   I might have to wait till my bill reads the $125 amount after June's statement on 6/23 - I'll try today though.  Frustrating experience for sure.  Worse comes to worse, I sign up as a new customer, same name new address when I find a house in a month or two.

No credits are available. All that's available is a system genie upgrade.  He thinks he isn't showing any credits because my bill is only $4.75 or whatever. If you had the energy, you should put this whole story together in an organized form and mail it in to Direct TV just to show them how messed up they are.

A huge mess, there's so many notes on my account now. I tell them don't bother reading the notes you'll be there for 2 hours and I don't have the time for you to read all of them trying to decipher who messed up multiple times on my account.

 
Just called in and spoke to someone who told me for Premier package subscriptions every 6 months you can call in and get the next "6 month" promo.  This is to keep their highest package cost down.  Basically its $5 off each of HBO, Cinemax, Shotime, $7 off Starz and $10 off sports ($32 total if my math is correct).  She gave me the discount and since my cycle is up on the 21st of the month she said to note and call back on Dec 21 to get the next 6 mo offer.  You cant call too soon on this one, you have to call when your billing cycle is up.

Since I had two other discounts that do not expire for 4 more months ($15 total), there were no other promos she could get me so I didnt get into Sunday Ticket or any of the NFL stuff.  Can call in Sept when my other discounts come off and see what they have though.

 
Frontier took over here for Verizon FIOS, and it may have been the most botched switchover in history.  Frontier is a ####show.  DirecTV is getting real aggressive to get me to come back.  Free Sunday ticket, etc.

 
Last week I downgraded packages to save some money and my discounts from this time last year were about to go away. I also knew I would be calling this week to set up my service to be moved. Last time I moved they charged me $299. 

So today I call about moving service. Without even asking she starts throwing deals at me. Ended up $60 additional off, free movie channels for 3 months, free move (I fully expected to have to pay big again), and kept the discounts I had for months 13-24 from last years deal. Point I guess I'm trying to make is she seemed to do all this because I have been with them for 4 years and they have deals to give. I didn't even ask for anything except to move my service. My bill is $18 for the next year. 

 
$50 off a month for 12 months. Cheaper than what I was paying with my previous deals. No Sunday Ticket though, but whatever.

 
Anyone use Dish or another offer as leverage lately? Just received one in the mail today. The threat of a real competitor used to be taken seriously pre-AT&T. Heck, I may even actually do it. 

I used to enjoy this negotiation dance more. Now I'm souring on it. DTV is wearing me down.

jesus, you get free showtime for 3 months and Matt gets $50 off a month.  How can these things vary so much????

All in one. The lady told me she could save up $600/year. Asked how $50/month sounded, told her that would work. Didn't get any other perks unfortunately, but I was more worried about the price than anything else.

So the first person I spoke to was a disaster. Wasn't very fluent in English and had a hard time understanding anything I was saying. I asked her how I could get my bill back to where it was the previous month. She told me the only thing I could do to lower my bill was to lower my package. Well, that's not really doing anything since I'm getting less, so of course I would pay less. Asked her who I needed to talk to then to cancel my service. Next person I talk to quickly offered the $50/month discount and I took it. Would have been nice to get Sunday Ticket, but all the Redskins' games are local to me, so it wasn't really a deal breaker.

 
So moral of the story. I'm actually paying less now than I was last year with the newdeal1 promo. My bill was $96/month, now I'm at $81/month. I have Ultimate, Genie DVR, and 3 mini Genies.

 
I just made the call and asked to cancel my account. I was immediately offered a loyalty package which was better than the newdeal offer last year. I went from $77 a month with newdeal to $62 a month with the loyalty deal. Still got Sunday ticket too.

Bout time to call.  Just got the email that they are going to start billing me for Sunday Ticket after last year's free. Will see what they offer and threaten a cancel I guess.

I bolted from Verizon the day the deal went through. I only had Verizon internet, so I switched to Bright House, which just got bought out by Charter. :wall:

But yeah the Frontier switch over was (and still is) a complete nightmare.

 
First time customer last year. Got the first year discounts, free sunday ticket, and $200 gift card. What can i realistically expect when i call to negotiate given i'll still be under contract for another year? Can i get discounts and sunday ticket or will they not give me the ticket for free again?

 
I could see that. It's strange that this was the first bill the $0 charge showed up on.

I had the same thing. Called and got the loyalty package. $15 less than last year for same programming. Come to think of it, did we get gift cards last year? That may be the difference.

first rep was wrong.  i have at least another month.  i did get the auto renewal sunday ticket email this week.

eta:  cut off date to cancel ST is 9/11

going to call this week, discounts are about gone and they axed or are in negotiations with our local abc channel so that's been gone for a good 2 weeks. perfect combo for a call

Got an email saying Sunday Ticket will auto charge soon.  I called said no,  they said we have give you $9 off 20% a month.  I said no, they said we can offer you free genie upgrade for a two year commitment.  I laughed.  I plan on calling when my statement generates to the $129+ on the 22nd and hope offers populated.

No, my bill kept getting progressively higher. 

I think there are two different promotions running. $50 off for 12 months, but no ST and then whatever Avoiding Injuries got which was a discount and ST for $90.

 
I called back to change my disconnect from Friday to tomorrow, spoke to this woman, she starts throwing the house at me and we got disconnected. I was calling from a conference line at my office and as she is offering ST Max, the call goes silent :hot:  Nobody there. I say HELLO HELLO HELLO for like 2 minutes, nothing, then race to my desk as my phone is ringing, it is her :excited:  

Bottom line, free ST Max, $45 off a month for a year. 12 month commitment, no problem!
