No, we didn't lose anything. I didn't unplug it either. When service was shut off and then restored, did you lose everything on your DVR?
Got a call last evening from Directv offering $30 off per month. I told the lady I was offered $50 off earlier in the day. She said she didn't see that offer in the system. Still nothing on Sunday Ticket. She recommended I allow the cancellation to go through and maybe get better discounts then.Called today to set up cancellation date of 6/26. I was immediately offered $50 off for 12 months, but nothing on Sunday Ticket. Maybe I'm getting greedy, but continued with cancellation. I'll make another call in a couple days.
I answered my own question above just now.Out of interest, has anyone ever accepted a deal and then called back in a few months later to see if there were any new promotions running? I was wondering if accepting a deal locks you out of any new promotions until your current one runs out.
It seems like there are so many versions of discounts out there.
Received an email today with "The Big Deal" asking me to call to see what they could do to keep me. I settled for $40 off per month and free ST Max for 2016 season. They are also sending a tech out to move my dish to a more desirable location at no cost. I'm happy enough to stay for another year.Got a call last evening from Directv offering $30 off per month. Wow, really? Haven't head of that but I definitely need that upgrade. I have a box on a three season porch that sits unused from Jan through March that I would have use for elsewhere. Unfortunately my contract isn't up for a while.when you set it up, think about if you ever want to have a "roving TV" and look for the best location to set up the hub. During FB season, I set up multiple TVs in the living room sometimes, and often bring a TV outside or into the garage. The wireless receiver has about a 75ft radius and works great for these situations.
Yep, really. What kind of setup do you have right now (i.e. genie or something else). FWIW, I'm paying $25/month for "advanced receiver service" and another $7/month for each box.Wow, really? So my $33 off a month expires this month. Went online chat to talk and said I wanted to make sure my Sunday Ticket was free this season too....they kicked me over to a phone # with a pin and I asked again.....they said they couldn't give me Sunday Ticket for free, but they gave me $40 off a month for a year, without extending my contract at all.
I can't tell on my account yet, but I'd be willing to be that I don't even after sign up for Sunday Ticket if I don't want to and still get the $40 off.
I'm very pleased. FWIW, I might still call closer to the season to see if they'll give me Sunday Ticket for free.
So I just got my email that I'll be charged for ST on my next bill. Will be calling on Friday to threaten to cancel and ask for it for free. Fallback is to commit for a year (which I would do anyway). My entire premise of calling was to verify that I would be getting Sunday Ticket for free again this year. He said I would be getting charged the $44.99 for Sunday Ticket if I elected to activate it, but he was willing to give me a $40 monthly credit for 12 months ($480 total) without extending my contract, so it's like I'm getting Sunday Ticket for free plus some extra.
I just checked my account and I'm already seeing a $40 credit, since I was paid up in full when I called. So at this point, I don't even have Sunday Ticket activated and I'm getting $40 off every month....so what I meant was, I don't think the $40 monthly credit was actually tied to Sunday Ticket (i.e. if I don't actually purchase the Sunday Ticket, I'll still get the $40).
When it gets closer to the season, I'll see what I can do to get Sunday ticket for free on top of this.
My contract runs out 8/8 and called to tell them that my bill was getting too high and I'm considering an offer from Time Warner for TV and Redzone thrown in. I got the same offer of $50 off for 12 months with one year contract. Said that was great and put me back in line with the Time Warner deal but what could he do about the ST/Redzone and he said nothing to offer at this time. Told me to check back in late July/early Aug as there will probably be deals on the ST closer to the season. Thanked him for his help and kindly refused his offer and told him I'd try later on.DA RAIDERS said:called, first rep offered $40 off a month no contract. $9 off sunday ticket with the max portion free. plus i'm eligible for a free genie upgrade. i declined. i forgot to set a cancellation date, so i called back. this guy gave me $50 off a month for 12 month with a one year contract and we downgraded my package, saving another $7/mo. he said to call back once direct tv is on the bill and at the very least, i'll get what the other agent had offered. so far so good.
got the same offer.. even went to retentions in the beginning, played a little that I still like it just can't afford it but didn't try too hardJust cancelled Ticket . Offered 10% discount. Uh no
). Also, now that Rams have returned to LA, I can catch them on local network TV. sorry, wuht?My two year contract was up in July, just moved, and was going to pay $20 early termination fee and go cord cutting mode. I already had an Apple TV with Netflix and Hulu, figured I would need a local/basic network antenna and maybe Sling (and also Amazon Fire/stick sideloaded with KODI)?
I had been paying about $100 mo. for a Genie in the living room and three smaller boxes in bedrooms. The rep offered $40 off for a year (with no time commitment extension beyond the existing July '16 time frame, I think month to month after that?). I voluntarily requested to go from a mid-tier programming package to basic (Choice, Select?) and still got most of what I already watched, hi def CBS/NBC/ABC/FOX, TCM, BBC America, usual channels like TBS, TNT, USA, NAT GEO, music channels, after it dropped out for a day, was surprised to get NFL Network, only seem to have dropped ESPN which I rarely watch anyway. Also in the move, kept some equipment, but downsized to Genie in living room and a box for just ONE additional room (lopping two off the bill, extra equipment really jacks up the monthly bill). I still pay for "whole house" DVR and equipment insurance, as it has gone on the fritz once or twice over the years. Most recent and first new mid-month bill was $37, I will need to renegotiate the extra $40 month off in a year. The work order confirm e-mail for the move install did mention (contrary to what I was told by the FIRST rep) that ANY move install entailed a re-up for another 12 months, and new equipment, which I didn't get, for 24 months. I tried to clarify this, but as far as I can tell, no time commitment change, and even if it is a year, at this price, I'm fine either way. The install was free, and required a new dish as there wasn't one already (though there was pre-existing wiring).
Was paying $60 mo for Time Warner cable modem hi speed internet and tried to consolidate with ATT (now owns DirecTV) fiber optic, but that was a nightmare, got a wrong price quote, nobody would correct, was on hold for close to an hour before hanging up, so called back just to cancel. Earlier, when I bought a TV from Dell on Black Friday, got a 10% gift certificate and used it to buy a Time Warner approved combo modem/wireless router (two choices, the less expensive was about $110 but rep gave me about 25% off to get it to approx. $85). I thought I was paying $5 mo but it was actually $10 mo for the equipment rental, so when they did the internet move install ($20 which I tried to remove in advance with no luck), the tech hooked up my new combo and took theirs. Something was off on the new bill which was now $70, but he found a new 12 mo promo to apply (need to request again on or before 6-3-17), and with the deducted $10 equipment rental, new bill lowered to $45 mo. Also month to month, no time commitment I think?
So far I like the upgrades. Our internet is hit and miss. With the new setup, it is not streaming Pandora, etc. I have other ways to make that happen through the stereo but not happy about the connection issue (which was tolerable before). I need to contact Comcast to deal with this.thanks yeah said i couldnt get out of the $99 fee but would give me $50 instant credit. Interested on how the wireless receiver works
ok was wondering. I have blast with comcast and supposed to 50 but its normally in the 10 range. Seems like I occasionally have problems when watching hbogo and other things. Think I just need a new router that is a little better. So far I like the upgrades. Our internet is hit and miss. I have been looking for someone to take my "DTV's Gimp" status Mitch. My contract ended in May. I called and was told the best she could do was $5/mo off. She said to call at then end of June and they might have more for me. So I paid a full month and now will be calling this week.
Not really happy about this. My call this week will include a cancel if necessary.

You could be it. :drumsfingersonmitch'shead:
No worries Mitch. Go through with the cancellation and your ##### status will disappear. Agreed. I've been with them for almost 20 years now I think. Can get cable as a bundle for a year for $20 a month I think. Wanted to switch because I really don't care but Mrs. SLB objected.I am going to bend DTV over and pound them into oblivion in the next week or so. My bill jumped form $78 to $93 to $130 in the last 2 months. If I have to, Ill completely cancel and wait for them to call. Ive done this song and dance for years and just havent been feeling it yet this year, but the time is almost here. I want the ST Max, $200 gift card, and silly discounts, and I wont stop until I get it. All of it. :chestpound:
correct.so, if I cancel, they just turn the service off correct? I don't have to wait for a tech to come out or anything?
So what did you say online for cancelling Sunday Ticket? I'm about to try that now and see what happensAgreed. I've been with them for almost 20 years now I think. Can get cable as a bundle for a year for $20 a month I think. Wanted to switch because I really don't care but Mrs. SLB objected.
FYI, if you had free ST last year and cancel online, they will offer you a discount to stay. Decline that and they will offer you another discount. In case you want it but don't feel like haggling.
Also, if I cancel, they just turn the service off correct? I don't have to wait for a tech to come out or anything?
Not sure its anywhere on the bill (don't feel like looking ....)Where do I check to see when my contract is up? Checked everywhere
Thanks GBcorrect.
you probably have to mail back the equipment at some point though.
I canceled online and then there was a pop up asking me to reconsider for 10% off. I declined that and there was another popup offering 20% off. After declining that it canceled. So what did you say online for cancelling Sunday Ticket? I'm about to try that now and see what happens
