They have zero NFL RB on their rosters.

Green : well he is finished

Davenport : cant even keep a 3 ypc in pre season , also finished no burst no speed nothing.

Gado : Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah , please .

Why arent they trying to acquire a RB , there are still a few available.

Suggs ( forget that failed physical it was BS )

Willie Green ( better then what they have on their roster )

Cedric Cobbs ( worth looking at )

Chris Brown ( sure he is available )

Thomas Jones

Mcalister ( they would be open to a decent offer )

Those guys are worth a look , when your RB`s are Green , Davenport or Gado.

Because anybody can run in this type of offense. Or so they say.

If Green can't return to his 2003 form, the offense will suffer. Najeh and Gado don't have the ability to make up for a below average line. That said, the Packers aren't going to break the bank for a player like Jones or McCalister and their back-ups are no worse than the available street FA's mentioned above.

Or they don't think that Ahman Green is "done".
I have a buddy who lives in Appleton WI (Near GB) and he says that A. Green as looked good in practice (thousands turn out to watch practice). The local whisper is also that Green has signed a one year incentive heavy contract and that Green is very motivated to have a big year. Behind that OL it will be difficult for him to meet those incentives but I think he has more left than many think.

I'd rather have a "finished" A. Green than a "never was" Suggs, W. Green or Cobbs. And trying to aquire T. Jones, Brown or McAllister would cost Green Bay way too much.

You can scratch Thomas Jones off that list. There's no WAY on Ditka's green earth that the Bears would toss their most hated rival a 1300-plus runner.

The national whisper is Green was very motivated to have a big year last year because he was becoming a FA.... and looked awful even before getting hurt.

Najeh down?
Yes, he is, and it did not take long at al:Packers | Davenport injured at practice Tuesday

Published Tue Aug 22 11:30:00 p.m. ET 2006

(KFFL) Cliff Christl, of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, reports Green Bay Packers RB Najeh Davenport (hip) pulled up on a running play and left practice Tuesday evening, Aug. 22, with a hip injury.

This is what I was thinking.
Ha has been done for at least two years .
Well the GB front office does not agree with you.
How they doin' with that line of thinking?
Well, they work for the Green Bay Packers earning 6 figure salaries. How you doin' with your line of thinking?

That's exactly right. He played in the zone blocking scheme and moves real well in it.TT doesn't like trading draft picks.

I wonder how much Matt Millen is being payed? He must make GREAT decisions.

I am surprised to hear that Noah Herron is fighting for a roster spot on that team. I liked him in Pittsburgh and I thought he ran well for GB last season when he got the chance.

If he gets cut I wouldn't be surprised if the Steelers picked him up.

I'm interested to see how much work Green gets Monday night. For his first game back I'm not expecting much, but I'd really like to see a couple of series with him in.

Arliss Beach looked better than both Davenport and Herron on Saturday night. I believe Beach was a backup at Kentucky. Its a sorry situation if Green can't come back strong.

I mean, they DID re-sign him this year rather than go into the FA market.
Not quite true. Green sat around unsigned for awhile as a FA. No nibbles. Eventually resigned with Green Bay for a one year, heavily incentive laden contract, set up in such a way that if the Pack were to cut / release him, there would be almost no cap hit.

They are in the market for a Rb. The way the Pack look, they are going to be in the running for A.Peterson in next year's draft.

I could see them showing interest in a first day, or even first round, RB next year. They do still have plenty of other areas they could upgrade, but even if Green does come back and is decent this year, he is only signed for 2006 and is getting up there in age. Alot may depend on how well Gado improves/does this year. Even then, they could still use some depth. There will be some FA RBs that could be of interest, but with the way Thompson likes to build from drafts I'd have to lean more that side.
