Wait a minute. These followers were not part of the officially permitted parade, which was 4-6 blocks ahead.

Remember when Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper tried tagging along on the end of a parade in Easy Rider? What happened to them? Thrown in the slammah for parading without a permit.

So every one of those tag-alongside were parading without a permit and should all be going to jail.

Do people really think that the right thing to do when a pedestrian is blocking traffic is to run them over?
When I watched the slo-mo video, the guy was inching through the crowd until some moron opened the door. A stranger opens my car door, especially the door of my wife or children, all bets are off.
Why is he inching through the crowd to begin with? Just keep the car 10 yards away from the crowd and let them pass and we have no problems.
I was under the impression that they werent passing. They were just congregating in the middle of the street.

I bet next time there is a police presence at intersections. The fact there wasn't, when there are that many people blocking an intersection, is negligence on the police department. Having said that, the driver still should not have started to use his car as a battering ram; however, the pedestrians are also to blame as they were illegally blocking a road and then some started to damage/attack the driver. Once that happened I understand why the driver acted the way he did, but if he didn't start in the first place it wouldn't have happened. It also wouldn't have happened if the pedestrians hadn't acted like ##### or if the police had a presence at the intersection and were controlling the flow of traffic.

Why are people sitting on the hood of someone else's car in traffic? Legally, they may have had the right of way to walk in front of the car, but why tempt fate by jumping on the car of a clearly agitated driver? How did they think that was going to end? Everyone have a good giggle over the situation?

I'd rather give up my right-of-way and live, rather than flaunt my right-of-way and potentially die.
All of that is true.

The driver still should go to jail.

 I doubt they could get a conviction - if the stories of a deaf family, with two kids in the car, are true. Not saying legally they could not get a conviction, just that a jury would likely sympathize with the family, and at least 1 would buy the panic story.

Speaking of the drivers hearing disability, it's curious how he thought it made it safe to drive through the crowd because he was honking the horn.

What if one of the walkers was you know, deaf?

In response to which he signs to the riveted courtroom, "...but what are the ####### chances?" Then he makes the universal head exploding gesture. Case dismissed.

Wait a minute, they were deaf? Totally justifies almost killing people with their vehicle.

Who was almost killed again? The lady that broke her arm and the sat right up.

Can we please stop saying that they were "moving" across the street. They were clearly obstructing traffic. No one was moving. I don't fault this guy for one second. If people are opening my door and jumping on my hood, I'm flooring it too, especially with children in the car. Nothing but dooshes in the street.

Reginald Denny let a mob open his door didn't he? Here's the video.

Nobody did anything until the car starting creeping forward.

When you have a mob walking in front of you.................maybe, just maybe, WAIT IT OUT!!!

Driver at fault pretty easily. Jail time????? Well no. But certainly something fairly stiff as far as punishment goes.

well, sure, lot of idiots in this.

The MOST wrong individual is easily the driver.

That's going to void the warranty on his car. Definitely not covered on the drive train once you get zombie flesh all up in the underside of your vehicle.

If you don't precipitate a crisis then you will not have to respond to that crisis.

Did the organizers have a permit to block traffic like that?
incredibly irrelevant.

One illegal act doesnt make the next one all of a sudden legal...........and in this case the second illegal act is far worse than standing in the road.
Sure it does. Somebody begins to assault you, you can defend yourself.
This dude wasn't defending himself. This was not a violent, angry mob. It was a peaceful crowd of people that had a mild protest when they noticed the car trying to drive through them.

One idiot sat on the hood of the car once they finally got the car to relent. He showed no signs of wanting to do physical harm to anyone in the car.

Because the driver was impatient and annoyed with stupid hood jumper, he risked the lives of at least a dozen people. Most of whom weren't involved in anyway. .

I bet they learned a valuable lesson. They should be thanking the driver that the lesson was not more expensive.

This entire incident weakened a nation #ColonelNathanJessup

now when the real zombies come people are going to be afraid to run them over. "What if it is just free range cosplaying nerd troop...OH GOD MY BRAINS THEY ARE EATING MY BRAINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I'm willing to bet if the guy just inched all the way through without honking and without flooring it when he did, he would've gotten through without incident. By honking, he just riled everyone up to the point where it escalated, then he made a stupid decision.

I don't think drivers should have to just simply wait for idiots to decide they're done blocking a street, but I also obviously don't support plowing through them.

This imo is the exact reason the judge's ruling on this case is so crucial. When the zombie apocalypse hits, our initial reaction to it is directly linked to whether or not we are justified in mowin' down zombies and wannabes.

Maybe but idiots get ####ed up by placing themselves in harm's way sometimes. I called it Darwinism. Just like I don't feel bad when somebody hits their nuts really hard on Ridiculousness. Serves em right.

if there is a legit chance someone is undead I believe you are not only justified in running them down, you have a societal obligation to do just that. I don't want a bunch of Neville Chamberlains out there afraid to do what needs to be done to stop the undead menace.

This, you open the door and go for my kid, #### you.

Plus even if you don't open the door I really can't take the chance that you aren't real zombies.
