Car wash delivery service (1 Viewer)

Our office uses a guy named Sherman. He's constantly outside detailing someone's car while we work. He has about 20 people working for him and has accounts all over the area. He makes bank.

yeah, there's always been a guy working the lot at work. seemed like a waste of money to me especially when my car gets washed for free every time i get an oil change. but just hanging in the house nursing a hangover and working second breakfast while the whip gets a shine? good stuff.

I think I prefer the car wash at the office concept. I used to just drop the keys off at the receptionist and pick it up at the end of the day.

I have a car wash less than a block from my office. If it wasn't so close I'd probably get someone to do it while I was at work.

If you're getting your oil changed at the stealership, I promise you're "paying" for that car wash and some...even if it doesn't show up on your invoice.

Should say I haven't looked into it here, but my Honda dealership in Florida was never more than $25 and cleaned inside and out.

It is not 1974 anymore. I am in independent repair shops all the time and the majority cost more than a dealership and use inferior filters and oil.

I love how people still think this way.

Granted, I am a small dealer in a smaller town, but our oil changes are just as much as joe down the street (sometimes less), plus we vacuum the inside of the car and wash the outside. People still go to joe because they are creatures of habit and have the fear that we are going to always be more expensive.

I guess it must vary then...The Acura place wanted $69 to change the oil on my wife's RDX. I can do it myself for under $30, and the local places are usually $50 or less.

First hand knowledge from guys who have worked at several dealerships in my area suggest every single dealership they've worked at have all been exactly the same:

1 good mechanic who gets all the good jobs and 4-6 kids who constantly strip oil plugs.

The dealer markup on parts is highway robbery. I know a guy who gets me parts at dealer cost and I wouldn't believe the ridiculousness of it if I didn't see it myself.

I'm of the opinion a good honest mechanic is like gold. I don't know what I do w/o him. I guess get screwed like everyone else.

How much?
Met the guy at the bar last night and negotiated $80 and a sleeve of golf balls. Usually he's $120+.
How many washes and how often?
One wash, once. Wash/wax/tires/interior.
What city and state?
whats it matter?
$120 is a lot different in backwoods Kentucky vs Malibu, CA.

Just wondering if it's $120 ($80) in San Francisco dollars or $120 in Columbia MO dollars. No biggie. Didn't mean for you to think I was iStalking.

When these services work out of parking lots, what do they use for water? Do they hook up to the building and pay the building for the use of the water?

Most of the ones I have seen tow the water in. You can get a permit to fill those tanks at fire hydrants.

So this is a detail right? They armor all your interior, clean all the crevices with toothpicks and q-tips?

Im asking because of you're paying for them just to wash and wax your car and minimal vacuuming then I think you're getting robbed.

If you're getting meticulous cleaning to a new car like condition, seats/upholstery shampooed , etc then I think you're paying a fair price.
