There's a clause, Yudkin, Do your homework.I can see the Sox signing him, but do you actually see the Rays trading him if they are in the hunt . . . especially to Boston? And how is Drew coming off the books? He's signed through 2011.
Of course not. Pre-season projections have the Rays, Yanks and Sox within a game of each other. Fin is just stroking himself here.would TB trade Crawford to Bos?
He hasn't been the same in a while now. Probably needs a sabbatical. Not one of his better efforts.
Link to projections?Of course not. Pre-season projections have the Rays, Yanks and Sox within a game of each other. Fin is just stroking himself here.would TB trade Crawford to Bos?
Crawford will not be traded within the AL East under any circumstances. Even if the Rays fall flat (HUGELY unlikely) and they do end up dealing him, it'll be out of the division.
There are several clauses. The main one is that the Sox had outs if Drew spent 35 games on the DL in either year due to a pre-existing injury to his throwing shoulder. But that's the only out they have. The other out clause they have is if he ended either the 2009 or 2010 seasons on the DL and if he was not able to play the OF in the following season, then they would not hav eto pay him. The other clause is that if he missed extensive time but could still play they would still have to pay him for the entire 5th year of his contract but they could defer some of what he was due past the 2011 season. The Sox have not tried to make an issue of his injuries and it's doubtful they would have gotten anywhere. He didn't spend 35 days on the DL in 2 of the 3 seasons and the one year he missed that many games I believe he was out with a back injury and wsas not on the DL long enough to trigger the clause.Either way, the Sox are happy with his performance and Theo said the Sox would not be pursue anything to get out of Drew's contract. Despite some fans opinions that Drew has been a bust, he's actually been one of the best RFs in the league when looking at various metrics and statistics. So long story short, Drew will not be coming off the books unless he has a new, major injury that would keep him out of the game for all of next year or he reinjures his throwing shoulder and spends 35 days on the DL . . . AND the Sox decide to pursue getting out of the deal. Bottom line, he's not coming off the books. There's a clause, Yudkin, Do your homework.I can see the Sox signing him, but do you actually see the Rays trading him if they are in the hunt . . . especially to Boston? Yep. This. As was said earlier, the only way Crawford is dealt this year is if Tampa is out of contention near the deadline. I don't see that scenario developing since the Rays are a very good team. Zero chance he's traded within the division. Zero.I don't think there is a chance he resigns with the Rays, but I don't see him getting traded, unless the Rays really choke during the year. THey have a solid team, and should be in the playoff race all year. Much like the A's when they had Tejada and Giambi at the end of their contracts. They will keep Crawford and take the draft picks when he leaves, IMO.
Will this weekend suffice, or would you like to see more?Link to projections?Of course not. Pre-season projections have the Rays, Yanks and Sox within a game of each other. Fin is just stroking himself here.would TB trade Crawford to Bos?
